Not sure the title is accurate tbh. The Bundesliga title race is beyond boring, absolutely agree. But the league itself boasts some of the most exciting, attacking football around. The Bundesliga games are NOT boring. But the title race, DEFINITELY boring.

The reason that Bayern came back with a vengeance in 2013 was not only Dortmund but also the lost CL final "dahoam" in 2012 against Chelsea. The entire 2012/13 season was one big vengeance trip and it was glorious. Also, Bayern had several times over the last 10 years where they were really struggling in the League and at one point Dortmund was even ahead by 9 points, but still they squandered their lead. It's not only that Bayern is good, other clubs also do not capitalize on Bayern's mistakes - and they *do* make mistakes.

If 50+1 falls who do you think will get the biggest owner? I'll give you a hint it won't be Bochum. The standings at the top will probably mostly stay the same and what do we as fans recieve? Higher ticket prices, more tourists than actual fans in the stadium, sports washing and all for as much CL titles as Man city or PSG have ... oh wait ...

One thing that is very interesting in the video, I didnt realize the scale of TV revenue for Bayern Munich was so huge in contrast to other clubs. You can take a look at a successful example in American football (NFL) where a small town like Green Bay can compete with huge cities like New York and Los Angeles, because the TV revenue they all get is exactly the same.

What ruined the Bundesliga and All other leagues is the CL. Its sad. I say that as a lifelong FCB fan. The 50+1 rule is an interesting case. But it is what makes the Bundesliga affordable. It makes the clubs have real fans and not only rich ones. If the 50+1 rule should fall, the should be strict and longlasting investments needed. No rich man toys in the Bundesliga pls.

I think Bayern's dominance is mainly because of its financial situation. The club has zero debts, owns the stadium, no silly unaffordable transfers. financially, it is an immaculate club.

This is exactly how I feel about LaLiga. It’s a 3 team race every single year. In the past 20 years only 4 clubs have won la Liga one of them being Valencia. This is an anomaly but every years it’s between Barca Real and Athletico it’s extremely boring. Excellent short documentary DW, as a long life Bayern fan since I got memory it is very interesting everything that was mentioned in the video. Bayern mentality is to be the best, win every match and break records. As many in the comments say, and I can’t object, is that the Bundesliga has become a little too predictable about who is going to win it but the fights for the UCL/Europa league/ relegation spots and even the mid table is very exiting. I love watching the underdogs perform well and seeing how many young stars develop at the beginning of their careers. Because again, I think that The Bundesliga has become a seedbed of many top class players that now play or have played for top clubs that have received this financial aid (which is extremely important specially now after the pandemic that have left many German clubs weakened, it would be interesting to see foreign investing in case they delete the 50+1 rule). Finally to not make my comment long and boring, until this day I keep and will keep enjoying watching week after week the great and entertaining German football where I know something’s I ain’t gonna miss are exciting goals and lots of fun! Blaming the 50+1 rule is a joke. Shalke had a sugar daddy who poured money on the club despite the 50+1, they simply spent poorly. The same applies to Hertha. Their sugar daddy spent €350 million and they barely avoided relegation. Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are owned by two of the most successful corporations in the world and even though Vile Energy Drink FC technically follow 50+1 the football authorities have let them flout it in such a way that they are in fact a company owned team. Nothing stops any of those companies from opening their purses and spending. The people responsible for making the Bundesliga boring are the presidents and the chairmen of the clubs. They behave as if it is 1963. I live in a city with an MLS franchise. That team has played 4 exhibition/friendlies against Premiere league clubs since 2000. Bundesliga clubs almost never come to the US unless it is to play in these phony ICC tournaments and that is only Bayern. I have sent emails and Tweets to Dortmund begging Dortmund to come to the US especially the Midwest where there are tons of German Americans with their German American clubs and music societies. Instead they go to Dubai. Bayern opened an office in the US several years ago. The man in charge of the office was interviewed on a podcast. His job was in a nutshell to build the Bayern brand in the US. Has any other club opened a US office? I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure they haven’t. Money keeps Bayern ahead but their forward thinking doesn’t hurt.

And If we fix Bayern at the top then rest of league is still so competitive even small clubs like augsburg and union Berlin had played in Europe and bigger clubs like Schalke and Hamburg got relegated from Bundesliga. predicting PL's top 7 is easier than predicting Bundesliga's top seven......

For me the real wakeup call was a 0:4 against St. Petersburg in the uefa cup. Because it showed them that there were not able to compete on a high level in europe anymore. Not even in the uefa cup. So they wanted big changes. Klinsmann was their first try. Then came Van Gaal who build the tactical foundation. The reached the cl final in 2010 for the first time since 2001. Van Gaal also made thomas mueller a star. He turnt Schweinsteiger into a defensive midfielder and in general worked very closely with youth trainer hermann gerland who trained lahm, alaba, mueller, schweinsteiger, kroos, badstuber etc. And of course robben joined the club that year to form a devastating attack team with ribery.

I remember around 2004, I was 6 yrs old and I think Werder Bremen won the title that season...I began following Bundesliga a bit at that time, guys like Diego, Kuranyi, Podolski and Ballack were very good. I also remember Wolfsburg winning in 09. Old times. At that time Lyon was dominating France and Inter in Italy so Germany had the best variation of Champions Even Serie A and Ligue 1 have had some variety in the last decade amidst domination from Juve and PSG. But in Germany, always Bayern. The league has become Laughably One sided and is generally seen as trash by all fans outside Germany

“Dortmund escaped bankruptcy and shocked the world” it sounds great when you say it like it’s a fairy tale but Bayern were actually the ones who saved Dortmund from bankruptcy. Stop painting Bayern as a big bad wolf in Germany. I honestly admire their mentality and relentlessness. Players and managers have come and gone + new CEO now, yet the mentality has no been shaken. Juventus won the Serie A 9 times in a row before Ronaldo came, and no one bats an eye. So yes, I admire Bayern’s mentality, ruthlessness, and cut-throat execution. They are the epitome of discipline and class.

Back in the 70s or so they got the olympicsstadium. A massive stadium that most other clubs couldnt afford for basically free. And that in a time when ticketsales was the main source of income. Surely not the only reason but it built the foundation for their reign

I loved Dortmund. As a Japanese American, I followed Kagawa-san's career eagerly. Never imagined it would introduce me to one of the most exciting clubs of the early 2010's. It's such a shame what has happened in the years since. I still enjoy watching individual Bundesliga matches, but following the league and the title race no longer holds the appeal it once did.

I look forward to seeing who comes in second this year.

The story goes far more back to the early 70's. Bayern got the biggest stadium (Olympia) for free and could earn more money than anyone else in this time. Which was the major source of income.

As long as the 50+1 rule exists, I predict another decade of Bayern Munich Dominance. Money plays a huge role in modern football whether one likes it or not.

I feel like I was sold a false bill of goods - I got into the Bundesliga around 2010, back when I was taking German classes and looking for a more interesting alternative to the Premier League. I thought the good times would never end 😿 But I nonetheless continue to pay an obscene amount of money for the Bundesliga television package here in Canada, if only to do my part for the foreign TV revenue that German football so desperately needs 🙃

As a life-long Schalke fan, seeing them relegated was at first devestating. But after watching the competition and excitment in 2. Bundesliga, there's a bit of sadness we are back in the Bundesliga. Bayern already rocked Frankfurt 6-1, a strong club who are Europa League champions. Frankfurt had a much less embarrasing scoreline today, only losing 2-0 to Champions League winners Real. Bayern poach the best German talents, from Dortmund, previously from Schalke. I hope this titan falls, it would be a great improvement. As for 50+1, it should stay, Buyern will hit a string of wrong moves like any big club previously thought to be untouchable (a la AC Milan, Man United, Barcelona).

I like how the seria A has become competitive. It is only a matter of time before champions league win returns back to Italy.

Last couple of years Dortmund had Haaland and a bunch of other good players they still couldn't build a team that could compete. It's not all on Bayern... And of course we would have Klinsmann, Mr "not having a clue about football" as a national team coach :)

Not going to lie, I'm still stinging from the 2012 season, and every trophy fills a massive gap I still feel from that nightmare. And if I feel that way as a fan from a foreign country, I can't imagine the steely determination that Bayern players and staff who lived through it must have. I don't think Bayern will fall off until Müller and Neuer leave - they won't let it happen.

The "fall" already happened. Bayern under Ancelotti and Kovac was weak and beatable. Lost some confidence and had inroom fighting or atleast disagreements. Dortmund failed to capitalize on that and in came Flick, Brazzo grew as manager and Kahn took over and Bayern was the unbreakable machine again. Its also Dortmunds fault to some part. They took to a system after 2013 in which they brought in a lot of young players and sold them on for profit. Its great and you love to see them as a talent factory in europe and it brought them some success but if you want to compete for titles you need consistency and form a great squad over years that can challenge Bayern as soon as they struggle. In 18/19 they fell off because they had to many young players with not enough mentality that could challenge thoruhg difficult times after losing the no 1 spot in Germany again after the winter break. I kinda hope that it's the way they are going now. Schlotterbeck, Süle, Adeyemi and Haller seem like players to me that they brought in to stay and form a squad around with Terzic as coach. There are some players like Bellingham and maybe Reyna that I think will leave for a nice sum in the future but my hope driven view of BVB is that they have players they can build a stable core around that wont leave for the first big club offer. Dembele and Haland were great transfers but it was clear from the start that they would come for a short time and then leave for a big sum. Right now Bayern is a machine and I genuinly believe only Liverpool and ManCity would be capable of beating them in a league challenge (Madrid is a cup team, dont think they could compete over a league season). Investor are also not the golden child that they are believed they are. So far many investors have failed in german football eg Hertha, TSV 1860 München, Uerdingen, HSV. Even internationally if you look at ManUtd or Arsenal investors don't always do good. Liverpool before the current owners was the same. Id rather have a boring Bundesliga then Clubs selling their soul to investors. I think German Football has to find a way to attract investors and money without giving up the clubs identities.

Even though this is not the Man Utd-Arsenal era just like when both sides were managed by their respective coaches, Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, and Chelsea having suffered a setback after the end of Roman Abramovich due to the fact he was involved in a bloody war against Ukraine, this league is still boring because Klopp, now a Liverpool manager, had a bloody rivalries with Man City and Pep Guardiola. With the arrival of Haaland and Nunez, plus a chance for other teams like Tottenham, Arsenal, and Man Utd (under Ten Hag), it is very likely the league gets complicated. Edit: "Bayern beat Dortmund in the first all-German Final at Wembley in 2013." If Liverpool and City meet each other in the next UCL Final at Wembley (2024) and Liverpool won it, the same Bundesliga predictions and Man Utd's Fergie era resurfaced.

The sad thing is that all the smaller clubs are supporting the 50%+1 share rule, which is kind of noble, but on the other hand the only thing they gain is keeping in their hands their own misery...It is sad that the world is waiting August 5th for Premier League but has no idea when the Bundesliga will start. Another issue that must be tackled is the fact that East Germany exists in few places in Germany and football and Bundesliga is one of them. It was not Bayern's fault that dortmund can't manage their player to give him a new and better contract also Hummels was bayern's academy product. That 50+1 rule sounds good actually… The problem apparently lies more with the _other_ rules that allow Bayern to walk all over the league. Qatar buying off PSG did not make the French League less boring lol. Though at least PSG has the curtesy to lose the title once in a while.

Don't get me wrong, but it's always a pity to realize how some people are linking interest for a league only to "who will win the title". It's just like those who can't enjoy a movie if the end doesn't fit what they want. If you really love football and follow every Bundesliga matchday, you will find out that Bayern, just like any other teams, can be surprised by some underdog and have to fight hard to win... and sometimes they failed, despite all odds. Also, stop complaining about Bayern getting other BL teams' stars... Where do you think they would go if their current teams can't match their salary demands? No, they wouldn't put loyalty above money. Yes, they would just go to another league... I doubt BL would gain anything by this.

As much as we blame Bayern for destroying competition by buying the star players of their competitors, they at least grew into a giant club organically and smartly which the rest of the Bundesliga can learn from. 😬Germany's capital city club (Hertha, not Union Berlin) have been mismanaged, Germany's second-city club HSV have become dinosaurs living in the past whereas Dortmund are bottlers. The obvious course of action would be to have league payouts be equal for all participating teams. Helps recently promoted sides, keeps teams from facing financial problems due to a bad season, etc. Of course, there's the old chestnut of 50+1, but there's a bigger chance of Germany ceasing to buy Russian gas than the DFB overturning 50+1.

As much I agree that Bayern winning all the time make it less exciting especially to international fan, the league is still very exciting to watch and affordable to every men and women. Getting good players from competitors is hard to fix problem with all the money Bayern have compared to other clubs and that is also not their fault either they are just smarter in the beginning. Other clubs need to play catch up.
