It's also that she respected the fast food joint decorum: You order, you pay and either have it there or pack it up to go and if possible, with a thank out of courtesy because you're a decent person. Us service workers respect simple things such as that.

I liked the performative nature of the cheeseburger scene. Erin and Chef were both playing a part and both aware the other was playing too. It kinda points towards Erin's skills as a sex worker - what is her job if not creating fantasies for men's pleasure? She played into Chef's fantasy of being able to go back to being a simple fry cook and genuinely enjoy cooking and life again. And in return he played along and allowed her to leave. Her directly challenging him was an aspect to that as well. I think he ultimately enjoyed her outsider's perspective on high class fine dining and how she refused to go along with the other insipid diners who praised the food while not really respecting it and who basically meekly sat there the whole night with only token attempts to escape.

Yeah also her taking one bite savouring it and loving it is the exact thing Julien asked them to do in the beginning with his don't eat but taste speech. He got to experience the joy of cooking for one final time before his death and got to see a genuine regular person truly enjoy and savour something he had created.

It's also that these two have the most in common among all the guests: Their profession and craft revels in satisfying customers: Julian with his kitchen, and Erin with her company. They both crawled into a more comfortable life serving insufferable rich people and lost their passion along the way because of those people.

The cheeseburger scene was the only time real food was actually eaten (everything else was edible props). The cast was so incredibly hungry that John Leguizamo ended up ordering burgers and fries for the cast and crew. Not gonna lie, but I ended up making my own cheeseburger and crinkle fries after I watched this for the first time, and it was so good.

Yes, I remember questioning it, but I didn't fully follow my suspicion down the rabbit hole: I was simultaneously caught up in the moment, so when the pay-off came, I was both surprised and satisfied. A very nicely structured movie.

This movie goes so so so much deeper than us normies realize. I watched a reaction by a girl who used to be a chef, and my God… the things she explained. Like the fish for ‘The Mess’ was literally composed of blood, sweat, and tears. Showcasing the sacrifices Jeremy went through in his life still unhappy. The oysters they eat on the boat to the island were foreshadowing as well but I forget why. When the men are given a head start to hide for 45 seconds, the husband of the food critic hides with the chickens. Symbolic.

I'm amazed at the amount of reactors who didn't get that Erin / Margo was a "Call Girl". It's right at the beginning of the movie. She says to him "It's your dime". And after that, after Cheff's dumb shit, she keeps talking about how HE is serving Tyler and he should not take shit from Cheff.

I love how you described her "cheeseburger to-go" move as like "tricking a computer" It's especially poignant in the era of AI generated art. When art can be calculated and quantified it's just a game of chess. He made his entire life about telling these intricate stories with food. People keep trying to moralize his actions but that misses the point. He's an egomaniacal psychopathic death cult leader. It's not about morality. It's about creating art that tells the truth. She simply didn't belong in the Menu and she found a way out that didn't spoil the concept.

This movie kinda reminds me of the movie The Final 2010 wich I already suggested. Because it was all planned out minus 1 thing that was unforeseen. If you liked this movie you will probably like The Final. Here's a new suggestion Funhouse 2019 let's just say. Nothing is random it's all planned out perfectly it also has a good amount of brutality and it comes to The Kills. Here's one I recently came across on the app Tubi. It's called Trick 2019 it has a interesting story and a surprisingly high body count. You may want to look into it on what ever place has it. You can even rent it on KZfaq for like 4 dollars an not have any commercials if you choose.
