This song to me is about how important it is to be okay with being alone. Because if you can't be okay being alone with yourself, how will you be okay being alone with someone when everything else has stopped? During the silent moments, during the boring ones. When everyone else has left the party, and it's just the 2 of you, are you both strong enough individually and together that you have a great foundation? That you can sit through the silent or boring or still moments together and still feel just as happy. Or did you need the craziness and chaos of the party around you to keep you together? Because at the end of the day, when you're in a relationship, it comes down to just the 2 of you. Nothing else matters but how the 2 of you are together, separate from everything else.

It's the little things my mind commits To etch behind my eyelids Like getting stoned when we wake up Coffee grounds and coffee cups Your silhouette in high top sneakers And hardcore from laptop speakers The classics to the more obscure From Minor Threat to your old roommate's band Like a kaleidoscope in vibrant hues I navigate around your tattoos Said you got that one on a whim when you were breaking up with him And that Matryoshka Russian doll That lines your shelf from big to small What a way to start anew To shed your skin and find the old you Everybody wants to get famous But you just want to dance in a basement You don't care if anyone is watching Just as long as you stay in motion We put miles on these old jean jackets Got caught up in the drunk conversations But after the party, it's me and you After the party, it's me and you With a new outlook on everything we see From high upon this rooftop over South Philly To the nights we lose our self control From the sex, from the drugs, from the rock and roll Everybody wants to get famous But you just want to dance in a basement You don't care if anyone is watching Just as long as you stay in motion We put miles on these old jean jackets Got caught up in the drunk conversations But after the party, it's me and you After the party, it's me and you After the party, it's me and you After the party, it's me and you

This band, God this band, just puts their finger on the pulse of a moment, a feeling, a time in our lives when things were there worst and the best all at the same time. More than likely we've all moved on from that moment where responsibility and life didn't get in the way and we were free to be whoever the fuck we wanted to be. But then a song like this hits the speakers and it all comes back. There's something special when music that can do that.

I love and relate so much to the story this song/video tells. Ive been in a couple of these amazingly disfunctional/codependent relationships. They are paradoxical in that from my experience the passion and companionship experienced compared to that of which most would call a "healthy" relationship is greatly unsurpassed. The inseperable attraction, the sex, comradery, usually drugs, reckless devotion, and what i call the "Bonnie and Clyde" or "Sid and Nancy" mentality are what make these relationships so intensely devoted yet highly destructive. For me memories of this type of relationship comprise equally the best and worst memories of my life. I think what happens is a rare phenomena when two rebel kindred spirits discover, come to understand and identify each others true nature. While this sounds ideal for any relationship the issue is the "rebel" side of their nature (for lack of a better word, character flaw would be innacurate of what im describing). These are characteristics and behaviors that when paired with another spirit with its own unique characteristic/behaviors tend to ideally balance each other out. When the two aforementioned "kindred rebel spirits" meet these potentially damaging characteristics are embraced, brought to the forefront and exacerbated. Again, from my experience these two souls form a perfect storm of unflinching loyalty, unhealthy infatuation, lovedrunkeness, the melting of each of their individual needs and identities and more often than not at the very least borderline substance abuse tendencies. The merger described above often devolves from an intense unparalleled bond/romance to a codependent, drug riddled embodiment of chaos and debauchery. The end of which usually for me signaled a trip to rehab, a requisite changing of phone number/address and emotional scars which usually take me a couple years to move past. Dont get me wrong. Im not entirely denouncing this type of relationship. As i said before the love and connection i felt in these relationships is still to this very day incomparable and unmatched. I wouldnt trade that experience of having felt so intensely about and forging an unbreakable bond with another person for anything. Was it highly unhealthy behavior that ultimately ended in an equally intensive chaotic heartbroken dischord? Absolutely but experiencing this vast, complex range of feelings/emotions concurrently with someone else is what comprises the best parts of being human. Of course the destructive nature and woes that follow would comprise the other nature of being human. You either get burned by the fiery passion, learn from it and move on/heal or it consumes you and a departure in a fiery blaze of debauched, codependent glory is inevitable. I have personally experienced two such relationships. One sent me down a dark path where once passion and burning love reigned but were replaced by vengeful anger and spiteful indignation. I didnt understand what the saying "a thin line between love and hate" really meant until embarking on that darkest of journeys. The second aforedescribed scenario culminated in a trip to rehab followed by a still to this day ongoing process of self rediscovery and emotional healing. Sorry for the longwinded sappy verbal diarrhea, but seeing this video dredged up intentionally buried feelings. I felt it necessary for cathartic ends to tell my story of life, love, sex, violence and heroin as I relate it to this song/video. I would love to hear similar stories from others. When im feeling robotic from the work/eat/playiflucky/sleep cycle i watch this video and take a stroll down debauched memory lane to remind me im still human and was fortunate to know the absolute best and the infernally worse the human experience has to offer. #noregrets #theanarchyandtheecstacy # lovemolotovsandrevolution

Man you described my world from 2015-2021 like nothing ive heard another person say before. It was every extreme of the human experience and i wouldnt ever undo it. Im thankful for these feelings, the experience, the pain even. These relationships are only comparable to addiction. The highs are an ecstasy, someone who sees you wholeheartedly as if it were written in the stars for you to join. The lows are hell, crushing and suffocating, and desperate for the high to return. The highs have left me with this void craving, and the darkest times have fucked me up like nothing ever could. Such a paradox of love and hate, trust and deception, compassion and cruelty. Its something years later i struggle to make sense out of. I focus on healthy bonds and stability, and attempt to ignore and bury the visceral memory of the emotions. But as it turns out, i come back to songs like this and the little devil in my brain likes to drag the waters and surface them. Wish you continued healing man.

Incredible video all around, but imo the best shot is when the 2nd chorus comes in when the lead actress leans down to scream into the camera then it jumps to her lifting her head up off of the bar. Amazing stuff.

The type of love these two are experiencing is the type of love that is decribed as riding the line of "love and hatred." Although most likely to happen young, this type of love can appear in anybody's life at any age. You have two rebellious spirits fusing together to create a whirlwind of emotions a "healthy relationship" wouldn't be able to compete with - as the downs of the relationship create a false sense of high when the ups do occassionally come around - a yin and yang sensation one could say. This sensation usually happens within the youth as they are experiencing new emotions more often than mature adults, and are accustomed to the emotional instability that frequents their youth as a part of growing up. Not to mention, the beginning stages of alcohol use or abuse, as they are completely new emotions and highs, that at that age, one isn't experienced enough with. So you have a whirlwind of new emotions (love and substance abuse) forming incontrollable feelings and thoughts while sharing this journey with another carefree and like-minded soul, you head straight into the tornado of souls that leads to confused and explosive arguments which in turn, correlates to wildly emotional and passionate sex. This kind of passion frequents people who grew up with a rough childhood, as they are used to the chaos that these relationships hold. You add the normalcy of chaos and dip it in a pool of love, and you're met with the destructive infatuation, the substance abuse, the chaotic spontaneous nights, the passionate make-up sex, the highly emotional arguments, and hidden insecurities, all to create the perfect storm of passion, love, and chaos. Some of these relationships make it out alive, some end up as scars on people's hearts forever. The passion for life one shares as a youth is the same energy they put into relationships, only this relationship adds an extra variable to the mix; the rebellious spirit. The majority of people in their youth feel they hold this spirit, but the truth is - its only the small majority that can truly be spontaneous and live without any security or stable variables within their lives - and that's where/why this relationship becomes so explosively passionate and yet has the potential for complete destruction and toxicity at the same time. Two souls that have lived their entire lives without the emotional attachment to very much, suddenly find an undesirable need for each other. Their rebellious spirits aren't accustomed to emotionally relying on someone, and now that same spirit is telling them they cannot live without the other person. Through the rebellious nature they try to fight it but know they can't. So they let themselves fall harder than ever before as they're not used to balancing such emotions - the rebellious spirit feeds off of extreme's of emotions, thus allowing them to fall really hard - and the other rebellious soul goes through the same thing, thus creating an unbreakable bond as the souls finally feel connected to somebody similar. When you get older, you can still experience this same passion through same shared rebellious spirit, although you lose the yang that comes from the fighting, (as you're more mature and have a better grasp on your emotions) you fill it with other adrenaline filled adventures with your significant other to continue the passionate sex, and to grasp the need for the rebellious spirits to fulfill their love for a highly emotional and passionate relationship. It's also good to note that passionate relationships as such, require the perfect person to share it with, you can have everything you want in a person and the passionate spark be non-existent. For those of you who have found something similar in this video, embrace it and do whatever it takes to keep the spark alive, it is very possible to share this fueled passion many decades later into a marriage. One of the greatest gifts about getting older is to share this same passion and youthful love with somebody minus the toxicity and destruction of the immature arguments.
