Holy smokes. Great tut. Somebody got out of bed on the wrong side .. Just about every pattern has many names and many different ways to cut and assemble them. Jenny, however, does us a favor by using precuts and saves us time. This allows us the ability to make a quilt quicker by whatever name you want to give the quilt. Since I am a long arm quilter I spend most of my time quilting other people's quilts. I appreciate these tuts as they give me the opportunity to make a quilt once in a while.

Terrific! I don't care if it is "original" it is just how you make them go together that is magic.

Jenny, You are my hero! You have given me the freedom to quilt the way I see fit and not totally by the strict rules those that taught me insisted had to be followed. Your comment in this video reminded me of something one teacher once said to me:"if it's not quite right, Steam it into submission!"

I love her delivery, she is so professional that she makes it seem so easy and casual. Between Jenny, Eleanor and Bonnie I can access any information on any style that I want to. If anyone has a problem with the tutorials it is simple do not watch.

I would make this, but not the scrappy look...i want the "circles" to match like other Celtic Twist and Amish Snowball patterns I have seen. will need to re-figure the supplies to that configuration. Love your methods....almost always much more logical, efficient and simple than other "tutes"! Also love to get my supplies from Missouri Star.....almost always a bonus free item in the box! Hey Everyone, just so you know, almost no tutorials you will see here are 'original'. Quilting has been around for hundreds of years, there are thousands of quilt blocks out there, we just put our spin on things. If you're worried about this one in particular, google "Celtic Twist Block" and you'll see what I mean. This block is an old block and has been made new several times. Drop an email if you have any concerns, happy to discuss!

I was thinking the same about using a jelly roll instead. I can't think why it wouldn't work just as well, although with a bit more sewing and less cutting. I have a French General Jelly Roll waiting that I planned to make an Irish Chain with but I think this will be the pattern instead. Although - if it only takes one printed Charm Pack there would be loads of left overs of the Jelly Roll - so maybe I can make both.

Good tutorial, love the fabric in this quilt. I hope that the people criticizing you in this post don't discourage you from making videos. Famous quilters such as Eleanor Burns and Fons & Porter do the exact same thing. They demonstrate how to make patterns. Which is all you're doing, in my view. Just because you didn't call your quilt the actual name of the pattern doesn't mean you're claiming it as your original. Love your tutorials and MSQC! I also do indeed love ironing machines, HAHAHA!

I have never quilted before and would love to try. I got all my supplies, I bought a (2) 42 sqaure charm packs, backing fabric, and batting (cotton). I do want to ask a couple questions before I start, should I wash the charm pack before quilting them or can I quilt them as is? My other question is, is polyester batting bad to as oppose to cotton. I hear many people say choose cotton and not polyester, does it matter?

Love this quilt! I may want to match the prints in the sashing blocks to the snowballed ones, just to have continuity to make it really look like it's weaving over and under like a chain link fence. I may need to use more than one charm pack, but I'm okay with that! Anyone who wants this design in a table runner version, can get it in BLOCK Magazine 2022, Vol 9 Issue 1 (There they call it "Lots O' Luck Table Runner").

When I first saw this quilt, it made me thing of chicken wire. The reason it made me think of chicken wire is I've been wanting to do quilt using rooster and hen applique but have no idea how I want to set it together. Do you think this would work to applique in the center? By the way, I love all your videos.
@HRHDMKYT
@HRHDMKYT 8 жыл бұрын
+Rita Norris I think that would look fabulous, Rita! You could also just use two contrasting solid fabrics to make up the 'chicken wire'/links, and each centre would be a different hen applique (or embroidery!) square done on the background fabric. Add a farm-themed print for the border, and you've got the makings of a gorgeous barnyard quilt! ~A fellow MSQC fan.
