Shame I missed this one when it got uploaded. Another banger video for sure. You briefly touched upon this, but Birdo without Miis is just completely stupid. Picking second during a snake draft, you take captain Birdo, and then you take Petey. Assuming Yoshi was the first pick, Yoshi needs to basically drop a chem link to stop you from getting King Boo + K. Rool + Kritter (i.e. autowinning the game), giving you the freedom to either drop a chem link to get powerful characters in another part of the chem tree (Bro-Bowser Jr-Bro OF) or just go up to 8 chem links vs a 7 link team. So basically the strat became take Birdo first pick as captain solely so Birdo and Petey won't end up on the same team, and even still Birdo's chem tree nets you so many good characters. Coloured Yoshi and Toadette make it so easy to get to Piantas and Daisy's also there as a pitching option because why not? Even Shy Guy has a niche letting you link into King Boo without dropping a chem link through Boo. Yoshi, meanwhile, is forced to drop a chem link to get Petey because Light Green Mii doesn't exist and basically just ends up building a worse version of Birdo's team. It actually got to the point where we were considering banning Birdo when playing without Miis because of how ridiculously powerful her chem tree gets. 6:27 - In standard play, I actually think Birdo is the second best captain pick in the game (unless Miis are banned, in which case she's easily the best). Making sure Yoshi doesn't get Petey (Light Green Mii basically makes it so they have chem with each other) is the meta imo and Birdo is the only captain in the entire game with a direct link in. Having a captain with a bad star swing isn't really the end of the world when you can just rely on your captain's regular bat and use generic star swings, or the occasional 2 star option like Daisy, instead.

I think the most formidable team would be: Birdo Petey Pirahna King Boo Daisy Yoshi Mario Peach Wiggler and Boo. Thoughts?

Good analysis! I did find it odd that Petey and Birdo had chemistry in Sluggers, but, yeah, I assumed that it was due to them being anti-Mario mini-bosses. Petey was nearly always on my team when I used to play Superstar/Sluggers. I could always rely on him for dingers! I didn't realize how unique Birdo was in that you can build a really solid team around her due to her amazing chemistry using a variety of characters. If there is a new Mario Baseball, I'm curious if there will be a new duo that even surpasses Petey and Birdo?

Yoooo this was my B&B combo back in the Baseball/Sluggers days! I loved using these two in Double Dash, simply because they were my favorite characters! I remember finding out about their chemistry in Baseball and being ecstatic that they got along well, despite having no prior history together! I'm thrilled to see they're not just as good, but even better than I remember. Thanks for the upload!

(bit late to the video and it is a little surreal to see 4k on one of your more recent videos) but from 6:38-6:43 I've said this before but choosing yoshi as your first captain is a death sentence in this version of a snake draft because player 2 will ideally draft mario captain and birdo. even if player 1 grabs daisy and toadette to stop birdo from linking into mario player 2 can still grab toadsworth and peach. Now player 1 only has 2 good pitchers, AND has more or less fragmented their team chemistry. Even if they decide to grab noki and pianta, that still doesn't make for a good outfield as one of them is a pitcher and another is pretty awful in the outfield. Sorry for the small over analysis on this one moment. Idk it just irked me the wrong way. (oh and for anyone who doesn't know me I don't acknowledge miis)
