When he said, 'The sudden change was very sudden', I felt that. Having all the sports in the same venue sounds like a cost-efficient genius idea. But when you see the final product and complaints coming in, it's too late and a waste of money. RFK Stadium, Montreal Olympic Stadium, Oakland Coliseum, all of these were poorly designed in the name of squishing sports without thinking about the fan experience. The roof collapsing was the tip of the iceberg.

Longtime Vikings fan, I remember when this happened thinking how crazy it was, then my next thought was thank goodness no one was hurt and it didn't happened with a packed stadium, that could have made things 10x worse.

My dad and I traveled through that storm to go to that game. He’s a Giants fan. A 3 hour trip took almost 7 1/2 hours. We spun out on I-35 and almost hit the ditch at one point but corrected at the last min. We stayed at my sisters house and remember weakening up the next day and we were so disappointed. I’ll never forget that weekend and all the crazy stuff that happened.

I remember that Minneapolis miracle like it was yesterday. I'm a Saints fan. I mean that one still hurts to think about but it's cool to have seen the Vikings bounce back like they did. I didn't even know about the roof collapse and the new stadium looks amazing not even going to lie.

Glad they saw this as a sign that the Metrodome was at the end of its life and had to be replaced. Sure that roof might have been a good idea at first, but with all the snow Minnesota gets, it was gonna happen eventually. It needed a more modern approach, and US Bank Stadium was the answer. Funny thing is Minnesota's sports authority did an inspection on the Metrodome's roof that same year in April and concluded that it was still in very good shape and didn't need to be replaced...aged like milk

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, so the rivalry in our border-battle with Minnesota was next level. The Vikings fan base has proven to be the most loyal fan base in history, even over the Packers. The stadium is so well deserved, the fans earned it. Shame it took a collapse for it to become a reality, but I've been at both the dome and the US Bank and the new stadium would bring most European soccer areas to their knees.

Seriously tho, big thanks to Detroit and the Lions for putting up their division rival under tough circumstances. Same goes to the managers and staff at the Vikings who hauled ass in making arrangements and moving all that equipment and dealing with being on the road for the rest of the season. Big props to the University of Minnesota for letting the Vikings use Gopher stadium and for all the peeps showing up to move all that snow?! That's Minnesota backbone for ya. Won't be forgotten.

Exact same thing happened to the Lions’ old stadium, the Pontiac Silverdome, back in the mid 80s. Their snow removal procedure was even worse than this with crews of men with shovels!

Let's be fair, this stadium only had roof problems twice through it's 30+ years and if they just upgraded the heaters it wouldn't have been a problem. This was a great stadium for football and I kinda wish they kept it.

We just got 17 inches of snow in 16hrs in Toronto. It was chaos here for a couple of days. The last of the stuck buses were towed out 3 days later. So glad my work is only a 10 minute walk away, and that I had nowhere to go!

Ah, memories... My plane was waiting on the tarmac at Minneapolis and we were called back in. Ended up getting snowed into the Mall of America that night and saw the Metrodome collapsed that next morning. Just a surreal few days for someone who never lived around snow.

You should hear the Vikings' radio guy Paul Allen's call of the game. He is a true HOMER.... Love that guy! He's got to be the most passionate, most home team rooting radio announcer to keep his job in the modern game. My favorite calls are the true Vikings moment 2015 field goal miss in the Playoff game vs. Seattle _ "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! He missed a 27 yard field goal! Are you Kidding me!!!!!!!!!!" 2009 NFC Championship game Favre Interception "This isn't detroit man! This is the SUPERBOWL!!!!!"

We have had snow like once in November and it didn’t last long and haven’t got anything yet sense then which is kinda crazy. Like we have had 40 degrees in December in MN. As a person living in Minnesota, I believe Both the vikes and twins had their best years at the dome. They used the design of it to their advantage, not to mention the crowd noise. Once their new respective facilities were built, they have both sunk into a level of mediocrity; although there were a few moments of greatness.

I mean there's a reason the stadium was nicknamed the "Thunderdome" the crowd noise was just amplified to the extreme there were more than a few recorded cases of it being so loud the players on the field couldn't hear audibles and other call outs leading to botched plays

I remember when this happened. I was working at a restaurant that had a full bar so I actually had to try to care about sports. The football also hit & destroyed one of the huge monitors at the brand new Cowboys stadium when I worked there.

The heating system was a good idea, but insufficient for the size of the building. It would have needed a mechanic system to remove the snow from roof. Like an automatic snowplow to start working, cleaning off the snow from the roof, as soon as there's a considerable amount of snow on the roof.
