We're back with the Michelin LTX AT2 Review for 2021! It's an oldie but a goodie that a lot of you have been asking to see a review on. I've personally owned three sets of these tires, and from my experiences I think you'll find this review helpful if you've been thinking about getting a set of these tires. As always let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks!

Thanks for the info that the tire chain stores are NOT capable of the knowledge base that you have.

My 2019 F350 diesel came from the factory with these tires. Your review is right on. They are quiet, smooth, good in wet and snow and wear like iron. I have 70,000 miles on the tires, With 36,-000 miles pulling a heavy fifth wheel, and they have 4/32” tread left. The only downside is they are average in mud, but great otherwise. I highly recommend them.

I also learned about these tires when they came from the factory on my f250 platinum diesel. I don’t trash my trucks but I do live on a dirt road and take the truck hunting so I needed a little off road capability but 90% of my use or more is on road. These tires make the truck just feel planted to the road, they’re quiet, and I really don’t have anything bad to say about them. Will run them on all my vehicles from now on unless they change something

Have these on my 2020 F350 dually, 13000 miles and are down to 10/32”, all 6 tires on the ground, started at 15/32” . I doubt I’ll see 30000 miles. Always have had good luck with Michelin, these not so much. Would like to see more on hiway tread tires. Thinks that’s the route I’m going next. Always good to see your reviews. I like how you show the good and the bad of each, sure helps to make a decision. Thank You.

Thank you for this review. I live in Hawaii. I need to replace my Michelin "street tires" for my 2012 Jeep unlimited Rubicon. (I have these on a second set of wheels. The OEM tires are too noisy on the road and a too harsh, in my opinion.) Based on what I have already read, and having watched your review and listed to you commentary, I'll probably buy a set of these Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires to replace my nine year old Michelin LTX "street tires" with. One of the sidewalls of my original Michelins is starting to crack, since they were only on my car about 1/2 of the time over the past nine years. They still have most of their tread. I was happy with these LTX Michelin's when new and the Jeep was in Utah. The LTX performed well on Utah's slick rock; I've wondered how they'll do here in Hawaii (with volcanic rock!), thus I have not had them on my Rubicon since shipping it from Utah to Hawaii. Now when I've finally decided to put the Michelin';s back on, I found one of them looks to be close to have the side wall split from being stored with four other wheels and tires on top of it. Thanks again for your video!! Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

Nice review with all accurate points. The LTX AT2 works nice for towing an RV on the roadways. But in a little bit of wet grass/mud, it's slippery and has no bite. The M/S2 tires from Michelin seem to perform better in any mud/snow than these AT tires do.

I put these on a 2003 Ford Explorer that came stock with the LTX M/s. I added sipes to these tires. These tires had awesome traction under all conditions. Only problem was on canyon roads the handling was scary! The stiffer LT tires used on heavier trucks should be fine.

I am replacing mine tomorrow. They have 72,000 miles on them and the tread depth is 5/32. They are starting to get squirlly on wet roads. I had a difficult time not going with another set considering how long they lasted, how quiet they are and how they do towing. It just came down to me wanting a more aggressive looking tire. Going with the Firestone Destination XT’s.

Thanks for the review Matt. I was considering these for my new F150 instead of the GY Wrangler Territory AT tires it'll come with. Outperformed any other tire i used. LtxAt2’s got me 95k+ miles pulling a 5th wheel flatbed 9k lbs trailer with added load weight on Highway use. The best tire for the money. 2nd place goes to Michelin Primacy Qc both of these tires ive used on a 2016 and 2019 Gmc 3500 Dually. On the primacy 40k warranty im getting 105k which is unbelievable. I have all receites and papers to prove i used two sets total 12 tires my truck has 210k and still going on 2nd set. Middle of tire still about 25-30% left. And i thought these would never compare with the At2’s!!!

Every tire dealer has gone to 3rd generation of AT tires except for Michelin. These have been around for some 25 years without a change. Now, Michelin says if you want all terrain and off road tires, go to BF Goodrich, as they own BFG. I had a set of these as a factory tire for my Ford F250 6.7 diesel. It's quiet, smooth, and good in the rain, and decent in several inches of snow. They hold pebbles like a magnet picks up nails. I've had about 4 or 5 punctures with nails so it had been patched up numerous times. Finally got rid if it at 50,000 Mike's. Replaced them with Cooper AT3 XLT. Same quiet, smooth ride, same great in the rain and even better in the snow. And not once have I picked up a puncture from a nail. I am replacing the Coopers with thr Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT as the Cooper have just over 51,000 miles in them. I can get many more miles out if them if I live in the south, but I love in Idaho so better fresh shoes before I slide into a guard rail.

I’m set to replace the tires on my ‘21 Super Duty. I have the LTX AT2 now that are the OEMs. Can’t say anything bad about them. I survived a Vermont winter and had no issues with traction. I’m also interested in the Defender M/S as well. Any advice on switching to the Defender or staying with the AT2? Unfortunately I don’t do much, if any, off-roading with my Super Duty, but I do pull a 5th wheel camper long distances multiple times per year. We could go from South Texas to Indiana, and out to South Dakota in the same year pulling a 18,000lb RV. We’re travel nurses and live full time in the RV. Thanks for the help and the videos.

I have no idea how many sets of Michelins I've had, but it goes all the way back to the multiple sets of XZXs I had during the 1980s on VW Jetta, and Volvo wagon. Others different Michelin models on another VW and Buick sedan, and F350 crew cabs, etc. All have given excellent service and mileage. We did try one set of Goodyear wranglers, that lasted about half the mileage, of what the Michelins did. I always ran slightly more air than recommended. 32 to 35/36. And 36 to 40.. better fuel economy and tire wear. Of course, if under load, or towing, I adjusted accordingly. Thank you for your informative channel. One thing you need to know, the tread pattern you are showing is for the 10 ply tire. The tread pattern on the non 10- ply tire, the sipes go all the way down to the tire and have a more aggressive tread pattern. The the non-10 ply tread pattern will compete with the BF good rich TA KOs, in the mud and sand. They offer the best anti-hydroplaning I have ever experienced. I’ve hit 3 to 4 inches of water at 70 miles an hour and did not lose traction. On my 2018 Ford F150, I got over 80,000 miles on the 10 ply tire. Just like you said when the tires get worn to those wear bars the tires gets slick and starts to hydroplane. I will be buying a set of the Michelins in the non-10 ply on my RAM 1500 4x4 soon.

Most people sold their brand new take off sets for around $300-500. I believe they're expectations are just too high. Just like you can't expect a factory truck to drive over 2ft rocks right off the dealer's lot. You want it to do what's it isn't intended to do you got to upgrade. These tires are meant for the everyday driver that wants occasionally light off road.

About no new Michelin all-terrain tires: the Michelin LTX Trail made its U.S. debut as OEM equipment on some Toyota truck and SUV models. The LTX Trail has been available internationally for many years, while the Latitude Cross is not set for a North American debut anytime soon. I ran these (the LTX A/T) on a 2001 GMC Yukon, and again on a 2003 Ford Expedition, and I thought the LTX A/T2 was an okay tire, even with the reviews I saw that said the tire wore out early. I ran these in a Michigan winter on both vehicles, and thought that the tires did okay in snow, ice, slush and rain. I even did some off-reading when I went to a camping site and up to a lakeside cabin, and the tires did the job on mixed dirt/gravel roads.

Great video thanks. I have these on my 2019 Tundra TRD Off Road sr5 with 25K miles but would like better snow performance over the life of the tire than these offer. I drive 30 miles a day to work and back and average about a 1000 miles a month with no real off roading. Do you have any recommendations that would not require a winter change over?

The first week of owning my 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie, I couldn't make it out of a carwash without the auto 4WD engaging and yanking me into a guardrail on the factory Goodyear SRA's. That cost me an insurance deductible and $600 after credit from the dealer toward a new set of tires. I replaced them with these Michelins. I'm now at 50k miles and I have mixed feelings on them. I think they're super quiet and have great handling on paved surfaces. I rotate true winter tires in after the first winter. These are NOT good in snow and ice. That long wear means hard rubber in the winter and they slide on anything frozen. I live on a gravel mountain road in Idaho and had a few tread block gouges early on. I have had probably a half dozen punctures of nails and other materials in these and I think that is more than any other tire I've ever owned. I get it patched and keep on rolling, but it isn't lost on me. I just purchased a set of TerrainContact's for the wife's Durango and if I don't go more aggressive myself, I will probably go the same route on my truck. If you need a pavement pounder with the occasional need to get off-road or a fleet tire, these should last you a long time and have great road manners. If you live in winter climates, you will need to rotate in a true winter tire though.

These tires are complete skates on ice. Number of years ago my Dad got these on his new truck. He let me drive it, he was with me about a week after he got it. We took a drive up the near by mountain pass, roads snow covered and icy. I had taken the road the just before in slightly worse conditions. I had a good idea of what traction was like, it wasnt good but totally manageable. I came up too fast on someone driving too slow (both our faults) hit the brakes and had NO traction, another oncoming truck was in the other lane. I narrowly made it around the passenger side of him and corrected. I knew that I was driving a bit too fast but also knew my traction should not have been that poor in those conditions. Took my vehicle out after to test it, my crappy old all seasons wouldn't slide like those. The funny thing is they took corners very well and took off fine in snow and ice but would not brake at all. Two weeks later my dad texted me telling me he slid right into a ditch and was gonna get some duratracs hahaha.

I have a 2016 Ford F350 Club Cab with original tires: Tire Size: LT275/65R20/E Michelin - LTX A/T2 with 39000 miles on the Truck & Tires. A tire just blew on the highway today 6/17/2021 and caused quite a bit of damage to the Rear Fender. It was on the highway and the temp was 105 F and my speed was 70 MPH. Now I don't know what to do I don't trust the other tires on the Truck!!! However, they are supposed to run 60,000 miles. These are supposed to be the best tires you can buy. List price on these tires is over 500.00 each. but now I am thinking of changing Brands! Plus, I have all this damage to my Truck. I do have pictures of everything. Note: There was a very large Explosion when the tire blew without any warning. I was still about 100 miles from Home. So, I put on the spare, stopped at the first stop I could about 2 miles down the road to check the tire pressure on the spare. It only had 45 lbs. of air. So, I added air to the spare and continued home without any more issues.
