We talk about the worst states and cities to live in the midwest. This research takes into account the states and cities in the midwest with the bad job outlook, high divorce rates, and where it's not expensive to live for a reason.
Here are some positive ways to give back in the midwest:

Our goal is to combine recent data, fun videos, and thoughts about local culture into bite-sized snacks of shareable information. We call it bite-sized regional infotainment. We try to paint a picture of what’s happening in a region based on “Friday Night Science” - how’d you argue at a bar. To do that, we gather data from around the web to help determine a wide array of factors about where you live, things like safety, desirability, and culture.

Back when I lived in Iowa, I would always go running directly after the tornado, because in the summer months, it was the only time it was cooler than Hell. I started calling it "God's Ceiling Fan". I actually really liked living in Iowa in many ways, but the weather SUCKS, it really does, don't ask me what the good season is because there isn't one. Way too hot in the summer, way too cold in the winter, way too stormy in between.

It's a big joke in my NW Indiana home to say "run to the basement" when the sirens go off 😆. Never had a tornado just high winds that would tumble a shallow rooted tree or two and hail that would pock your car.

As a non American I had to wonder why Ohio was a mid west state when it's clearly on the north eastern side of the country , so then I read about the Louisiana purchase . Looking at a modern map , if I were asked to point out mid west states , I would have said Wyoming , South Dakota , Colorado , Nebraska , Kansas and maybe Oklahoma . So I have learned something today :-)

Your taxes are not actually paying for anything I see at this point basically you're paying taxes all yes did you do they do take your money ass but you're paying them at this point merely so the politicians have a platform to run on because they know that you always dick wack about being a taxpayer and that alone gives them all a platform to run on so they can discover you on over to the voting booth and then notice right after the election that go right back to ignoring your ass no matter what party it is because well your money doesn't matter they know that they'll just make more out of thin air and borrow it into an existence which is basically just agreeing to pay interest on nothing!!! I love these videos but as a life-long (56 yrs) resident of southern Missouri I have to say, we DO NOT call it Missour'a' and in fact we find it very irritating when people do. And don't judge the whole state by St. Louis and Kansas City. The Ozarks, where I live, are beautiful. Rolling hills, forest, multiple lakes and rivers. I travel for a living and I have seen the world. Yes, I would rather live near the ocean or mountains, but Missouri isn't the worst place to live, not even in the Midwest (thousands of miles of flat cornfields in most of the states).

I agree ., cleveland is my appeal for Ohio at the moment. I’ve lived in Palm Beach FL, Chicago, Buffalo, Boston and visited far more cities. Cleveland is one of my favorite cities ever. The attitude people have for this city; the love, respect, admiration, and loyalty. They Love their browns and do not care if they are going through a losing streak. I read that Cleveland has never had trouble selling tickets for their home games despite lackluster seasons that went on going for years. People still love the Browns and I have so much respect for that . Just like they love their city. Every city that I’ve been to, including Columbus .. The same does not exist. The closest city that may resemble would be Detroit. Not in terms of crime or population decline or whatever else but in terms of love from local citizens. Columbus and their buckeyes are used to winning a lot but when they will lose a game I see people trash the buckeyes who were just cheering before.. I cannot imagine the same fans standing by them if they experience what the browns have. Not true loyalty. Cleveland is definitely thriving and it’s downtown is booming and it’s going under a massive resurgence. The energy and positivity is the best that you can find in Ohio. Downtown Cleveland over downtown Columbus or cincy any day. More things to do And the most densely populated city in the state.

We’ve held the following titles: Meth capital of the nation/Midwest Most depressed city in the US Most number of adolescent depression and suicides Highest number of divorces Most obese city in the nation Highest crime in the state now However, we have the highest job market. Medical, car manufacturing and banking. Everyone always has a job. We’ve never really suffered job issues, even during bad times. Great healthcare second to Indianapolis. Our hospitals rank 2 and 3rd in the nation. And we have lots of them. Hey maybe you should do worst Midwest cities. 😂 Btw, we don’t go-for cover for a tornado until it gets a block away. So, oddly, I watched a very similar vid earlier about which states have the most "sealed indictments" (for organized crime prosecution). The "top 3" states you gave have 0-50. The bottom 5 you listed are in the top tier (and NC is in the next tier, still pretty high, split into sections) The DEMOGRAPHICS behind organized crime tend to revolve around known bootleg highways, the I-95 Corridor being PROMINENT in that calculation. Its fairly intriguing to add the location of known "trafficking highways" into your State/ County / City calculus. The History of the Ohio River Valley (bootleg route) dates back to the 1500's when they were shipping textiles and Bourbon down the Ohio to the Mississippi. That history explains ALOT about the Prohibition Bootleg Route to Kentucky, Al Capone, the river boats, the indian raids, etc. Rally Races currently take place along this route (also not mentioned in your summary) of classic American made cars that run on NITROUS. Considering the Kentucky Derby is this month, all of that seems fairly relevant. If you look at changes in the Census over 20 years, the I-95 Corridor is fairly shocking (Especially Pennsylvania). Some things you left out about Ohio : its a manufacturing hub of military hardware, such as TANKS (and their parts). Dayton is very close to Wright Patterson Base. You really did not say the main points about Ohio: no mention of the military industrial complex, no mention of the huge (high ranking) portion of jobs that are part of the Medical Manufacturing Industry (and Hospice Industry), both of which are considered "the workhorse" portions of the Economy (and resulting social institutions like Universities, etc). You also did not mention the INDIAN TERRITORIES which is something that makes all of the Midwest more interesting, generally. What about the Serpent Mound? Archeology? That area is a huge tourist center for rock hounding, water falls, etc The vid with the organized crime break down is here, start at min 4 for the map : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftJyf5mdrJ-pfHU.html

@@BezmenovDisciple Hi ;) Hope my answer is correct. Since 2001 the use and possession of drugs stopped being treated as a crime. Of course, if a person is caught with some kilos that are still a crime. I don't know how much grams for personal use are considered under being considered a crime. To sell it's illegal and a crime. But if you are caught doing drugs (heavy or not) you are treated like a person who needs treatment and not a criminal. If it’s marijuana maybe the Police just say to throw that away or confiscate the drugs and nothing happens. But if it’s the hard ones, you are redirected to a Drugs Dissuasion Committee. So you can be seen and probably being medicated with methadone. The person may be obliged to do some community service or pay a fine. It's not a drug's paradise, but people are by law considered patients, not criminals. I think I'm pretty close to what is the reality here. Cheers ;)

Missouri and Kansas go by the heartland..
@jakewherley3301
@jakewherley3301 Жыл бұрын
When the Midwest was named “Midwest”, it originally came from the “Northwest Territories” which included Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and some parts of Minnesota. At that time, places like Ohio and Indiana were considered “west” because the rest of the known country was so Eastern such as Vermont, New York and Connecticut. So back in the 1800’s, when your family said you’re “going west” that generally meant Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, because that’s what it meant back then. Obviously now it’s different with actually far west states being established, but it’s more of a time period thing, as well as a cultural thing. Many German immigrants inhabited the midwestern lands and therefore, the Midwest states are culturally closer to each other. Even though Ohio borders, say, West Virginia, it has much more in common culturally with places like Iowa and Missouri.

Most of the time (in my experience) when kansans hear a tornado they go on the porch to look for it and go downstairs if it’s actually close

@@PoonCrusher That's exactly the truth. It's harder when you live in the middle of town, but especially in the country you look around. Not sure who the fraidy cats were he called - probably not native to the area.

except for the tornado thing; there’s actually a very common t shirt here that says “Tornado Watch” with a lawn chair on it because so many people here just ignore the sirens until they see the tornado

Branson, MO is lots of fun and safe for all ages. Lots of fun family attractions and things to see and do. And plenty for the oldsters too. Restaurants and attractions are very reasonable and people are nice and friendly.

Have you ever been to Indianapolis in the last 20 years?! It's one of the best capital cities in America. Walkable, interesting shops, attractions and great hotels and sports venues. You really missed the mark on this one, which undermines your overall credibility. Just sayin'.

As a native born Chicagoan, anywhere in southern Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois are nice places. I've been through Kansas and love the openness of the vast rural areas while southern Missouri is more dense in forestry versus the north. Michigan is my favorite state, but only in the summer and like Wisconsin/Minnesota/Iowa gives me the chills in the winter. Chicago has great beaches after they've thawed - usually sometime in early May. I can only tolerate seeing three months of the same old dirty snow so I'm glad to now be living somewhere slightly north of the 37th parallel in a Twilight Zone called Centralia. Nice YT video, thanks!
