Yes, pure. No synthesising. Just pure un-adulterated praise to the Father. But, during that Era there were so many. The Gospelaires, Dixie Hummingbirds, and Five blind Boys From Mississippi to just name *3* This music will never grow old. Music was designed to Praise the Creator.

my goodness. look at Mr. Joe Ligon. wow. i love to look back and see my people like this, in their element, doing what they do best. that was one sangin' man. THE MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY are legends that i still love so very much. Mr. Joe lived a long time and he sung us under the table!

I couldn't put it better myself my brother. What a Blessing for the younger generation to be able to see this...The Pilgrim Jubilees have some awesome footage to as does the Rev. Julius Cheeks and his wife. If you wanna see a woman play a piano like it's nobodies biz. Look up "Morning Train" by Rev. Cheeks.

Brother Joe Ligon…..one of the most vicious voices to ever be heard in the annals of music history. Had he crossed over to Soul, he would have been one of the greats of the genre. Even so, he will forever be remembered as one of the all time greatest Gospel shouters.

I was still working when the Mighty Clouds Of Joy came to South Africa and This was my first record I bought because I could not attend attend the program glad that have more than 10 from this great Gospel group

Absolutely beautiful,these guys were and still is the greatest of all time. My father had a lot of they peacock 45s when I was a kid. I love the mighty clouds of joy.

In 1966 I had the PLEASURE to see them as the opening act at the 2:00matinee stage show at the Regal Theatre in Chicago-on that show they also had Wilson Pickett and 5-6 more National acts !

One of my Very Favorite Gospel Groups mini concert..I seen this group in person a few times many years ago...I got to shake the two fingers of this lead singer the one and only Legendary Mr Joe Ligon so many came up to shake his hand and he was trying to shake my hand and hold his Mic at the same time but I was glad I got to get that close to do that ..I have so many of their records new and old records all through the years ❤ 💙 💜

The most awful thing kids would do is harmonize to see who could do it best. Chewing gum in class or maybe break a window for lack of places to play. Prayer was removed with the 10 Commandments around 1962. I was about 9 and it seemed all hell has broken loose on All of us with the Emmit Till debacle and civil rights on the line.
