@@gunnarkilborn3915 Thats what I meant. It was a temple to Zehir though. Zehir was the one who imprisoned Ukotoa and the seals were in his own temples, were he could guard them. The Yuan-Ti and the hydra didn't work for Ukotoa they worked for Zehir.

It's interesting that Fjord is tossed into the ocean at the end of the combat. The opening to the M9 theme could now just as well be the beginning _or_ the end of Fjord's arc with Uk'otoa.

According to CritRoleStats, Jester healed 1,844 points over the course of the campaign, so 700 points is 38% of what she's done all campaign.

@@FireFr0ggy I used to run a battle cleric in DDO. Always healing (because 3.5 rules) and also one of the highest damage dealers. Doesn't have to be either or. We subscribed to the theory of pre-emptive healing: you can avoid healing damage by disposing of those who would deal it.

@@demago3265 Do keep in mind though that in the first epilogue, Liam stated that Caleb and Essek would "spend some time together", but that the relationship didn't last - not because of any drama or fighting, but simply because they're two very intelligent people who recognise that their vastly different lifespans would lead to nothing but tragedy in the future, if they entered a proper, committed union. They'll have some happy times together, and then they'll separate amicably, and that's fine. Maybe Caleb will eventually find someone else who makes him happy, or maybe he won't. But either way, you don't need a romantic relationship to have a happy ending. Caleb is surrounded by so many people who love him and care about him deeply. His ending was already a very happy one.

I’ve played a few sessions of DnD on roll20 and watched up to date on crit role for c1-c3 but I have a question if you wouldn’t mind - this moment was the first time I ever saw invoke duplicity used to this astronomical extent - just curious if any of this was house rules from Matt , or if this is how it is structurally meant to work - I would love to utilize this in the future myself

@@JohnnyVegas0012 The only non RAW part of this was that she spread out her duplicates to get in range of everyone and basically extended the range. If we are being strict with the rules, she could only heal from the radius of 1 single duplicate. She would have still healed a majority of the members, so it wasn't a gamebreaking move.

I've always loved that moment because it really heightened their friendship and Caleb called back on it and told Fjord he was cashing in his favor. I cant quiet remember what he cashed it in for, I think it might of been when he got the eyes or before he read the book. Sometime when they went to Eiselcross. Then this moment your right is a perfect way to tie it all together.

Ok, so here are some M9 (Spin off) One-Shots I am hoping for: Mighty Nein Wedding Special: Caduceus marrying Jester/Fjord and Beau/Yasha in a double wedding (Also I think it would be funny for Laura to get married at the end of every campaign) Aeorian Mysteries: Devexian manages to ping Caleb because of something very dangerous rising in the depths of the Aeorian ruins. (Would also be a chance for us to get to know a bit more about the reemergence of the Aeormatons, maybe even have a little bot with big blue eyes riding around on one wheel seen in the background) Kingsley overthrowing the Plank King (all cast members playing another member of his crew) Veth‘s Wild Out Camp (Sam as Veth as the DM with the cast playing a misfit group of trouble making campers) Also the Mighty Nein vs. Vox Machina Rematch with Grog, Keyleth, and Vex taking on Yasha, Caleb, and Caduceus with Tarry/Veth as the Wild Card, would be cool. Also, also, and that is probably just for me, I would really love to know what happened to the Xhorhaus. This little place of whimsical, lively, magical, homely, and fun beauty in the middle of the gloomy elegance of Rhosona

@@DiViNEReject I agree. Liam is still an amazing player and still does an amazing job as Orym. He is just notably taking a back seat this campaign since he was such a dramatic force in the first two campaigns. Who knows. Maybe he'll grab the spotlight again. Either way I'm still enjoying C3.

This is it! I did it! Writing this little comment to note that I have FINALLY finished all 141 episodes and the 2 reunion episodes of The Mighty Nein. What a lovely journey. My feeling for these characters is deep. Thank you to everyone, but especially Laura Bailey and Liam O'Brien for their groundbreaking roles as Jester and Caleb. The heart that they put into their characters stuns me.

When Uka'Toa was brought out, they showed a premade, up close shot of the model! THIS needs to be done sooo much more! The Shademother. The Death wish Run etc.... So many of these would benefit from some preproduction shots, to show during the broadcast. Please incorporate this more into future Campaign 3 episodes!

They pre-record the episodes; getting those shots can be part of *post* production, if they don't know which episode (if ever) they'll fight the boss. But sure, since they're not trying to recreate actual things that happened during an episode the way D20 does with their physical models shots, they could get shots of the minis beforehand if that's more convenient.

Especially now that theyre pre-shot, I feel like it shouldnt be an insurmountable amount of effort if it meant it was easier to keep track of where in the world the group is during that episode.

He also has a big group of friends that he gets to spend time with for the rest of his life. Considering his trauma around romantic relationships (Astrid and Eodwulf) taking the risk to be in another one that was healthy and fun while it lasted and ended amicably is pretty impressive and brave. He doesn’t need to end up with someone because he’s been there done that and is happy in his older years to just teach and enjoy his platonic relationships.

It would have still been ok. It only takes away her clones. She would just have to attempt maneuvering her own body into a semi-decent position to catch people in her spell. From what I can see onscreen, she would have been able to heal Beau, Fjord, Kingsley and herself with Mass Heal's 60 ft radius

@@Heyjay1977 They use he/they pronouns, while yes this doesn't mean that the character self defines as trans or has transitioned in the classic Male to female or female to male sense, as a trans person who uses they/them pronouns its still a pretty resonant piece of GNC representation that makes me feel good. But who knows after all it's hinted that they weren't always a genasi so that could be a wink and a nod from Taliesan, a fantasy version of a "Transition"

I mean- to me I don't know if hiding it in other places makes that much sense. Ukotou's minions can go on land, so hiding it somewhere random might not even work. Maybe they could like give to the Cobalt Soul?? Jester healing isn't character growth. . . . . Dropping concentrating on a spell that dealt bonus action damage each turn; spending her action to invoke her duplicates; sweating a full round of concentration checks against a demi-god; taking all that risk not for an amazing damage spell, but to heal: THAT is the character growth.

Hell yeah. Smart tactics by Laura, too. I'm not sure you're supposed to be able to cast one spell through multiple duplicates at once to increase the total area, but I love it for this one shot, at least as a rule-of-cool one time thing for healing spells. If she started abusing a Word of Radiance cantrip with 4x the area, that would be different. RAW, a sensible reading is that you'd have to pick one of your duplicates as the one that cast the spell. She could have reduced the risk of losing concentration by readying an action to Invoke Duplicity instead of actually doing it the previous turn. The trigger could be "after X does their next move" to do it right before her turn in the initiative order, or at least "after the next lair action type of thing". Unlike readying a spell, readying an ability like channel divinity doesn't use your concentration. So she could have invoked before her turn, then used a bonus action to move her duplicates, then cast Mass Heal. Unless she needed two separate 30ft moves of her duplicates to get them all into range of everyone? But I didn't think of that myself until after she'd already had to pass a couple concentration saves, maybe not until after she'd actually cast the mass heal. OTOH, I only figured out what her plan was after seeing how relieved Laura was to maintain concentration; that was my hint that it was probably setup for Mass Heal to save Beau and turn the tide of battle. Definitely smart thinking, and totally the correct way to heal in 5e; wait until it's needed, then use the minimum number of actions. Prefer buffing up ahead of fights.

@@JohnnyVegas0012this is rules as written more or less but a little tricky and very clear on Laura's part. As a Trickery domain cleric she can use her channel divinity ability to "invoke duplicity" to make an illusion of herself. At 17th level and higher, instead of one illusionary copy you get 4. Maintaining the duplicates requires concentration. They can be nifty as a way to trick people and misdirect but more importantly, you can cast your spells that don't require concentration through your duplicate, or in this case duplicates, as if you were in their spot. You use your own senses for the casting. By spreading the duplicates around the battlefield she can use her duplicates to massively extend the range of the mass heal spell and effectively heal most of the battlefield in one swoop. That's a 17th level character for yah! The rules don't specify specifics on casting spells through duplicates when you have 4 instead of one, I would say in this instance and given how the rules are probably intended for a powerful 17th level character that this use of mass heal was totally valid.

They smile. They touch, They kiss. And then they quite literally close the door on this chapter. 🧡💜 This was such a satisfying addition to the Mighty Nein's story. I agree, Liam. Let's not wait this long. Let's return again soon. 🙏

Indeed! I particularly liked Taliesins look while it was raining - it made him look drenched almost, which was very appropriate. Liams threads were *chefs kiss*, would like to be able to rock that look!

I edited it in my minds eye while watching that Yasha's attacks and legendary grapple initiated the sequence, Uki showing obvious signs of struggle and panic, Fjord shoots off his eldritch blasts and flies along behind them calling for caleb to light him up, the rest of the crew do their final touches except the fluffer nutter occurs on Fjords charged strike, combo-ing the damage for the "would be mortal" wound behind the head, blasting Fjord away as then from the sky plummets the massive dragon turtle Caleb to do a falling bite attack and drag Uki under with and almighty Spladoosh, continue story 😀

one thing i really appreciate is the Wildmother ridding Fjord of any lingering Zehir or Uk'otoa presence. while it's obviously something everyone involved takes into account when planning these reunion specials, i really hoped everyone could keep their happy ending. Glad that didn't change

Straight-up? The Wildmother owed him something after she slept through the entire ordeal with Uk'utoa and he had to go make that contract with Zehir in the first place.

@@SpiderwolfHowling i don't think she was ignoring him, Uk'otoa and Zehir both can block divine powers. Like, the Nein were in the temple of Zehir, if anywhere is guarded against the Wildmothers intervention, its there.

The water effect towards the end is so awesome. You can see how the cast is in awe and how proud Marisha is.

You could see it too when they enter the storm. You have the typical super-excited Laura response and rest of the cast amazement, but from my interpretation, Marisha just exudes pride in what's happening. We don't often see quite so elaborate set-ups, and these were awesome :)

Everytime the new set shows off a special new effect and the cast gets delighted I always look at Marisha. She always has this proud little smile on her face. That beautiful set is her love letter to her friends.

I love the admittance from Yasha that Molly teetered on the edge of good and not 2:15:00 Considering how well she knew him, I think that speaks for a lot and more so since she still adored him and his company a great deal too. So her saying this to Kingsley feels very meaningful

@@sagniksarkar2471 It wasn't wasted really. Matt says that control weather lowered the DC on the Lair Actions. They still failed the saves on most of them but still, it had some impact.

@@BusWindow granted a -5 to enemy DCs is pretty baller but from what i remember the lair actions weren't.. that impactful? It was just half movement for half the battle anyway and they were pretty good at maneuvering around that. Just feel like control weather is a trap spell in general tbh.. the effect of an 8th level spell should be more pronounced imo.

I made this episode last five days because the MN are my happy place. Started on twitch and ended here. Portioned it out and always started with an overlap. The ending was heartbreakingly beautiful. A lot of life is rough right now. I’m so grateful for this addition to the story.

That entire one-shot (two-shot?) was EPIC. I hope this is just the first of many to come, it would be great if they did an M9 adventure once every year or year and a half (especially with Liam being hyped up already). This was so great to see the reunion, the higher level combat, and the combination maneuvers they utilized. My only hope is that for the next reunion they continue venturing into the remaining unknown rooms inside the "Happy Fun Ball" alongside Yussa and potentially Essek.

I miss Cad, too. I miss our gentle giant. It does warm my heart to hear him included, at least, through Kingsley and a growing friendship between them. Kingsley could use a Caduceus-just as we all could, let’s be honest. I hope to see him in a future mini-campaign, even if only briefly, but I’m unsure how likely that will be. I suppose it’ll depend on what story they’re telling-only time will tell.
