Because Barbarika give promise to his Old Guru for fighting only weak side. Then he decide to fight with Pandavas(weak side).Then Lord Krishna asked him when Kauravas will become weak in future fight, you will change to Kauravas. Barbarik said, "Yes , I Will go to the one who is weak." Then Krishna realises him,"Only you will survive like this &your family will end, so u don't fight". Then Barbarik finds his mistake in his promise. Now Barbrik make new Promise & said to Krishna," You are my Teacher & Grandfather, you suggests me What to do because He Couldn't Control to participate in War & also I want to give Gurudakshina (Donation of Guru)to u. Then Krishna said that You give your Head in Gurudakshina, then Barbarik gives his head happily to keep his promise. Then Krishna blessed him His Head will See and Hear everything & what happening in this War. This Time, His Head Is worshipped with the name of ""Khatu Shyam"".

Actually Krishna's elder brother Balram promised Shakuni (Duryodhan's uncle) that he will not participate in this war as well as Krishna. Krishna had promised his brother that he would not fight in this war. Before the battel he conducted a competition between Arjun and Duryodhan that whoever will appear first in front of Krishna's eyes he will fulfil his wish. So Duryodhan went there first and saw Shri Krishna sleeping and all the chairs were placed at the direction of his head, for that Duryodhan decided to sit on the chair and wait for Krishna to wake up. At the mean time Arjun came and saw Krishna sleeping. Arjun saw the chairs but he decided to sit near Shri Krishna's feet on the floor so that Krishna could see him first. It happened. Krishna said Duryodhan that almighty has given eyes in front of one's head not on the top. But Arjun said Krishna to let Duryodhan make his wish first so that Krishna's reputation don't get stained. Krishna said that Krishna's amry (Narayani sena) will firght against Krishna in this war. And Krishna will remain unarmed in this war but he will participate in the war. So Duryodhan and Arjun had 2 options either one have to choose Krishna or Krishna's army. So Duryodhan asked Krishna for his army and said what will he do with an unarmed man in the war. But Arjun only wanted Krishna. Therefore, Krishna remained unarmed in the war and became Arjun's charioteer.

Arjun had all mighty weapons of GOD and Knowledge of Maya (Illusion), He was having answers to all celestial weapons but he wanted to fight war like a Noble warrior and respect god given weapons even if that weapon belongs to anyone. Krishna (Was Arjunas Charioteer in Mahabharata) is the God he gives us direction to live better life and fight our own problems with full righteousness and dharma.

Arjuna didn't have this type of arrows. Arjuna had astras. Vajra, Raudrastra, Pashupatastra, Maheshwarastra and Brahmashirastra. If Arjun had used any one of this astras then he would have destroyed entire kaurava legions in seconds but he had given his word to lord krishna that he will not use any divya astras without asking lord krishna. Lord krishna knew that after death of Abhimanyu arjuna will go blind in rage and use this dangerous astras which could end up destroying the earth itself, this astras are so powerful to hay if not used properly then they are capable to end world itself. That's why arjun never used his astras, though he used vajra to defeate and kill 30 million Nivatkavachas rakshasas(biggest enemies of gods) on behalf of Indra (King of gods and Arjun's father). Arjun also used the Raudrastra to kill 150 thousand kalkeyas and pulomas danavas and destroy their flying city made of gold Hiranyapura city. Karna is my favorite. And Tilak in your intro is the least favorite freedom fighter and as a Marathi I confirm that he is not loved today. The most iconic leaders of Indian freedom were Veer Savarkar and Baba Saheb Ambedkar both were marathis not Gandhi. Tilak was conservative of Erdogans level.

It can only be corrected by the human itself . thats why he didnt interfere in the war and let the war being fought within those human souls so that the war at the end can bring the end of prevailing disorder and adharma . there can be many interpretations as well but this is what i learned while watching . 🙏🙏❤️

Mahabharata is not only about the war but it also shows the importance of life saving, peace, truth ness, failures, sucess, sadness, respect, responsibility, love etc. This all comprises to form the story of mahabharata, the last scene krishna used to cut barbarik head bcz, barbarik promised his mother to stand with only weaker side, when he join the weaker side then the opposite side becomes more weaker than them so at that time he have to shift to other side then he joins the other side then the other side becomes weaker so this will leads to the distruction of the whole people who participated in the war, to avoid this he have to cut his head is the best solution from the destruction of whole army. The greatest thing is barbarik allowed krishna to cut his head by statisfying his ambition to see the war if you want to know more about mahabharata you have to read it. Beacause it consist of most mysterious and human values about everything in the world.

Barbarik promised his mother that on the starting of the day he would fight for the loosing side , so let's suppose on day one he flights for Pandavas and the Pandavas started to win so, on the next day he would fight for the Kauravas.... eventually he would kill every one present on the battlefield. And one more thing that Krishna knew that there would be some circumstances on the 18 day war that is very crucial and will be informative for the upcoming generation that the war shouldn't be over in just 60 seconds. This was not only a war , it gives us the knowledge of tactics, frendship,how karma is bigger than blood , and last that nothing is greater than dharma and that in last only dharma will triumph.

In old times the value of given words was more than ones life...so shri krishna made barbaric realize the consequence of his given promise to his mother and barbaric realises it too....and hence there they both came to this conclusion and barbaric was beheaded but lord shri krishna gave him a boon that his head won't die and will be able to see the whole battle of Mahabharat....and today barbaric is even worshipped as 'khatu ji shyam' because of lord shri krishna boon(he was impressed by his devotion and sacrifice)

Because of his promise ( once a promise is made you cannot go against it) to participate in the war and krishna knew that if he had participated then every one will be killed. So krishna asked to sacrifice his head but fulfilled his wish to watch the war.

He had promised his mom he will join the week side of the team. If he does so For example 5 v 4 he joins the 4 team coz 4 is weak now he uses his skills and now other team will become week so as per promise he will have to switch to weak team so eventually there will nobody alive apart from him so that's why Krishna asked for his head so that there can a winner in the war.
