Fun fact about the scene where Katniss is playing with the cat… in the books everyone in the bunker actually did go crazy for it 😂 they were down there for a few days and the government even issued Katniss extra batteries for her flashlight so she could keep people entertained

The song Katniss sings is even creepier when you realize the man who has been hanged is the one singing to his loved one to join him. It's trying to convey a message that it would be better to not surrender and to accept death if it comes to that.

This series isn't meant to feel comfortable, so I'm glad you're picking up on that vibe. The books weren't an anti-war series so much as a warning against the darkness humanity can drown in, and how hard it is to do good in the face of that darkness. The films managed to capture some of that, but people tend to get lost in the rebellion spirit.

You saw Johanna in Pride and Prejudice! She was one of the sisters!! This is a great series of films, really holds up and launched Jennifer Lawrence into the stratosphere! One of the film crew (not the one who is an Avox) is Wes Chatham who also had a small role in The Help. He went on to star in The Expanse TV series which has become my favorite series of all time! Hope you get to see that some day (Amazon Prime).

I just found your reaction page yesterday. You watched The Princess Bride, which is one of my top 5 movies so I had to watch that video first. I enjoyed it. I really like this series and the way it portrays how dark and cold humanity can get. The other dystopian trilogy you should watch is the Divergent series. The movies are good but really you need to watch it for the story. It is as messed up as this one. The Maze Runner series also came out about the same time as Hunger Games and Divergent but I didn't care for it as much. You definitely have me as a subscriber and I'm going to start going back through some of your other reactions (so you'll see more comments probably). This series put so much on Katniss's shoulders than I think even she realized. The trauma of the games, of being the capital's pawn, constantly having your life in danger ... its all so much for a 15 or 16 year old to handle. I'll have to check out Part 2 tomorrow as I want to see if you picked up on something but its late tonight, so I'm headed to bed. Really enjoying your reactions though. :)
