I can easily think of one "anything" you overlooked: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idWdhLtmmdfMqmQ.html Just saying... No disrespect to JR & the ML's. They did a good enough job at what they were doing. Nothing comes from nothing.

I will never understand how in the world people like NWA, The Beastie Boys, Janet Jackson and The Sex Pistols can be in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, yet The Modern Lovers haven't even been nominated, much less inducted. It's complete insanity!
@MarcosMartinez-zv7gg3 жыл бұрын
@kim pantyhose It was recorded in 1972.

The Modern Lovers have about as much to do with The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as I do. They weren't part of the musical establishment and never should be.
@booshank23273 жыл бұрын
@kim pantyhose Well no, that would be The Stooges, but the Modern Lovers sure were right there on their tails.

They're too cool for awards its like - De Niro before Raging Bull - Dylan went electric and then got Grammy lame in 79' - Lou Reed had to die first before R.R.H.O.F. as a solo act. The R.R. Hall of fame takes the "edge" from Legend. Its like a 350 lb Elvis taking a dump in his jumpsuit...Too large and too far gone.

Oh that doubled up quicktime guitar staccato chording and those gestural guitar chord shapes near the composition's catherine wheel crescendo lets fly like a Zen ink splash of a Franz Klein action painting. Like the VU get cranked up and really gas groovy, playing a live date on the TV show Shindig along with The Nickerbockers or the Box Tops and MC'd by da Groovy Guru (played so brilliantly by Larry Storch in that flip city episode of Get Smart).☆☆☆☆☆

Just imagine...drummer David Robinson, of The Cars, and keyboardist and guitarist, Jerry Harrison, of The Talking Heads, were once members of The Modern Lovers. Hear any Cars or Talking Heads in this track? Hmmmm....

Well I don't want just a girl to fool around with Well I don't want just a girl to ball alright What I want is a girl that I care about Or I want nothing at all. nothing at all, Alright well Well I won't pretend I like a girl if I really don't And act like she's great when she makes me feel appalled All I want is a girl that I care about Or I want nothing at all. nothing at all Well I don't want some cocaine sniffing triumph in the bar Well I don't want a triumph in the car I don't want to make a rich girl crawl What I want is a girl that I care about Or I want no one at all Alright, listen to this now. Picture this: I'm walking with my girlfriend 28 misguided souls combined say, "We're moving in" There's a certain kind of girl that you care about so much You say, "I don't care what you guys do to me, but her, don't touch" 'Cause I don't want just a girl to fool around with I don't want just a girl to ball What I want is a girl that I care about Or I want nothing at all Oh all right Well I don't want just a girl to fool around with, no I don't want just a girl to ball, no What I want is a girl that I care about Or I want nothing at all.

I never cared about this band until I heard the leader slept in Lou Reed's apartment and Jerry Harrison had been a member. I'M STRAIGHT and SHE CRACKED are gems. Lou Reed might had created the songs but JR did it for him. Gawd dam.
