As an old audiophile myself, I see this whole deal of analog only and the snob-like exclusivity tends to remind me a little of the title of a famous play; "Much Ado About Nothing". My question to these analog-obsessed folks would be; hey, whatever happened to the concept of the enjoyment of the MUSIC? I don't agree with the views of these over-sensitive persons at all. I have had the pleasure of hearing very high quality renditions of both analog and digital master tape recordings in my accumulated experience. Music folks, music, sweet music stirs my soul, not ever the method of delivery! Music stirring my soul is to me is the target. Whatever does that gets my support. Jiles and Mike, you both provide excellent advice (and entertainment), please keep it up! Cheers!! 🍺🍺

"Auduophiles" are the worst. I think this is another example of placebo effect. Lol. It was the best until I was told it's digital. Big LOL.

The real issue for me is that MoFi desived their customers by selling a product at a premium that wasn't what they claimed it was. They knew that if they were transparent about the whole thing they couldn't have sold those LPs at a premium. I have a bunch of LP that sourced from DSD and they sound amazing, Vinyl on Demand for example, and they are transparent about it. I have to issue with digital just tell me what you are selling and at what price. I don't think you have the whole story. MoFi was trying to hide this for the longest. There are a bunch of videos on KZfaq were you can see their people claiming their products were all analog. Michael Framer and other people cantected MoFi a bunch of times about this issue and they never disclosed until they couldn't ignore the problem anymore. Analog Productions does all analog, LP cut from original analog tape, and they sell their products at a reasonable price.

I own quite a few of their hybrid SACDs. To me, the sound quality matters the most to me over whether something is digital or analog sourced. Most of the vinyl people buy now isn't even from a tape source anymore.

So one transfers analog master to a digital submaster with fractional degradation- then make a pressing master with large degradation- then the pressing is played with further degradation with a $5,000 turntable. I could burn a CD off the digital submaster and the signal won't sound much different from the master. So much for the vinyl religion.

CD's with music fron the 70's and 80's are just not very good and the artwork was crappy. On the other hand CD's of 90's and 2000's releases are awesome, CD was the original format. I don't get why people want those on vinyl. All my vinyl are 70's and 80's releases unless I find something from later on vinyl close to the price of a CD.

Not in the pure analogue crowd but I can see the point of these people being mad. Here’s an analogy I hope it makes sense. If I bought a classic vw beetle and paid a premium for it because of the perceived rarity, then discovered that the engine was replaced with a new moderne engine, I would be mad too. The person who sold it to me cannot say - “well your new beetle is objectively a far superior car now with the change we made” . The fact that they were selling these records with a premium price attached speaks clearly to the deception they were trying to pull off.

I have maybe 50 records and I only buy them because its something fun to occasionally spend money on when I go to Walmart. I get a kick out of these videos by folks who have an entire roomfull of records; 80% of them, I cant imagine they have time or even want to listen too! The psychology of these folks is facinating: the bootleg collectors, the completionist, the first pressers, the Mofis, etc. I never felt compelled to buy a big ass UHQR One step Mofi box! Or whatever they are? Half those albums, ive heard enough and the other half, im just not interested. I also never had the disposable income to waist on them with all my living expenses. Anyway, were people thinking they were getting records cut from the 2" tape or the Master Tapes? Arent master tapes quarter inch tapes cut from the 2 inch and sent to pressing plants? Or are all those tapes too degraded to be used anymore? I really dont know anything about the process. I do know, id probably be better off buying the cds of these records I occasionally pick up at Walmart but its fun hearing records again and they sound great. Maybe there is a distortion floor created by the bass and the needle and all the vibrations going on that taps into our legs and feet and makes it all some great symbiotic experience!?!?!?!? Probably not though. Likely its just another tangible addition to all the other junk we bring home to pack into those empty corners of our lives? I believe having rare records has always been a thing to record collectors. There has always been those folks who have that really great collection and they have those albums that can only be found in a few places on this planet but somehow, they are so incredible. They just didnt make enough of them??? I see alot of 1 step buyers needing 12 steps right about now.

Those who say they have been defrauded are complete imbeciles. The whole focus should be on the sound. I don't care if MoFi had a Labrador Retriever lick the master tapes and then slathered them with ice cream before the information was ultimately pressed onto vinyl. No one can hear the difference and that's what makes it so comical and exposes the "high end golden ear" community for what it is. They are more concerned with endlessly babbling about their $50,000 triode tube amps. that deliver .00000000003 watts and drive a $75,000 speaker developed in the mountains of Transylvania that just sounds perfect if placed 6.75 feet from the back wall and toed in at precisely 37 degrees in a space with $30,000 of room treatments. It all about the "uniqueness" of the product and endless archaic discussions of the "concept of how to listen" rather than the sheer base enjoyment of the music. My best music moments were listening to a scratchy record on a cruddy turntable/amp that had a changer allowing me to stack records that would drop as each side ended. I still look for that initial thrill. High end listeners who breathlessly strut their gear and talk about how well an album is "engineered" instead of whether the music is crap? Everyone is laughing at you.

@@babymaker13th If you get a picture with the cable and its stable then you are good to go. Its a digital signal. Cables will either work or not. If they are flaky that falls in to the "not" category. Cables cant make the picture better. They carry encoded data that has to be decoded on the delivery side.
