It wasn't a "clear off side" lol. Did you write this before checking the official video? You could argue that "it was not clear" but if there's uncertainty, you need to valid the play. But this is not the case, the official video clearly shows that there is no offside. Remember that the off side needs to be proven, not the absence of one, there is a difference.

Kevin Ortega is a Peruvian referee (I'm from Perú) and sincerely he is pure sht, has many controversies in our local league. We don't understand how he's chosen by Conmebol and other confederations. But honestly, that ''offside'' was validated by the VAR, not by him, and the alleged penalty: it seemed to me that player touch to the ball first, the collision is a natural product of physical contact. At the end of the day football is a contact sport... And come on, you lost this against Panama, this was the match you should assume you could lose and catch 2nd place.

It was a clear off side, the refs in the whole tournament have been really bad, not even one-sided, just plainly bad, not at copa america worthy level

In the end the USMNT were just not good enough. Even without the Uruguay goal the USA would have needed to beat Uruguay by 2 clear goals because of Panama's +1 goal differential plus the tiebreaker over the USA.
