Today the Montane Winter Spine Challenger North and MRT Challenge North draws to a close. We've heard incredible tales of determination and camaraderie that inspired our runners to complete their 160-mile race up the Pennine Way.
In the 268-mile race, our runners are in the final stages and are now against the clock to make the cut offs at the checkpoints. The pressure to make the midnight deadline at Bellingham starts to set in, as our remaining competitors make a push for the finish line.

Helen at Horneystead Farm is amazing! That pit stop is provided all year round _ i thought I was hallucinating when I read the signs in 2015, "Tea, Coffee, Water, sweets half a mile". And she provides it all for free. God bless you Helen and thank you from a mere mortal PW walker.

@@peakproofuk Yes! I left a donation. There's also a box for any unwanted items from your kit, and of course you can take any unwanted items too. There is a WC (I spied a bed on the video) and i think she was building a shower unit last time i called. But to find a well-stocked fridge in the middle of nowhere was heaven.

Would be nice if Helen Dickson the volunteer could be rewarded somehow to cover the time off she takes for the race. What an amazing human!

I’m sure at some point Helen will be given some sort of award but remember people like her get rewarded from the feeling of helping all those people and the gratitude received. People like Helen have amazing souls ❤

I thought I was the only nut ( I enjoy trail running during blizzards,it’s the isolation that’s really appealing) these days . There used to be more of us . The best is always the most difficult! Great job folks .

This race looks so incredibly hard but beautiful too and I’d love to do it some day but my word, that’s a heck of a lot of money to drop on the entry fee before you even think about the cost of the necessary kit to survive those conditions.
