The Moon Landing: Stanley Kubrick's Greatest Film | How NASA and Hollywood Fooled the World
Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Of his 13 movies a few are considered classics in their respective genres. Including the black comedy Dr. Strangelove, the highly-quotable anti-war commentary of Full Metal Jacket, and one of the most disturbing and enduring horror films of all time, The Shining.
But in 1968, Kubrick released "2001 - A Space Odyssey". This is more than a classic. It's a masterpiece. And widely regarded as one of the best science-fiction films of all time, and probably the most influential.
This collaboration with science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke tells the story of an alien intelligence that visited Earth in the distant past, and left behind artifacts in the solar system.
The movie features groundbreaking special effects, which still hold up today.
In fact, the effects looked so good, that the movie gave the American government an idea.
Billions of tax dollars were invested in the space program but the Soviets were still years ahead of the United States.
NASA desperately needed to get to the moon before Russia, but they knew it was impossible. So they turned to one of the world's best filmmakers for help. Because when it came to the moon: if they couldn't make it, they'd fake it.

Whether or not Stanley is lying is irrelevant because we know NASA and countless others are. 20 years ago before I returned to school, staging the moon landings was utterly ridiculous to me but I did watch, listen and read. 2-3 months of college in my early 30's a decade later as well as watching Jarrah White's videos, talking with him and having done the same with Ralph Rene, *nothing those two said mattered to me because of what I knew was fact based on formal education.* They lied, faked footage of humans on the moon and sent R.C. equipment there. *Jarrah has probably finished his Astro Physics degree by now which unfortunately made him a bit stupider and arrogant lol.* *12 or 13 years ago, the exact plan to return to the moon I outlined is how they sent and returned Artemus/Orion.* Orbit the moon, build momentum then one big blast off the "bucking plate" Orion disconnected from and left as a radio satellite. *Thrust requires a liquid environment from propeller to the booster rocket.* *Countless other Newtonian enforced facts as well as subatomic destroy their Hollywood lies.* This lie has enslaved the entire planet and will continue to do so until a new wave of technology is gifted to mankind and the dinosaurs that composed and told the lies are dead.

I saw the moon landing at 16 years old! My biggest amazement wasn’t that they supposedly landed on the moon, it was the way the astronauts behaved when they returned! Watching the interviews I was shocked at how dead and lifeless they acted! They had just done the most remarkable thing ever and they acted like they were ready to cry…. Not one smile or jubilant moment. What World Series or super bowl winner would behave like that?

The transmitters used in space have exponentially greater power than the few milliwatts of a household wi-fi router, using a high gain receiver and directed focused antenna arrays. The Apollo radio transmissions broadcast at 20 watts, to a dish that was 65 feet in diameter which reduced the amount of battery power needed by the lunar module. They also had line of sight, i.e. there was no obstruction between the Earth and Moon. A cell phone transmits 300-600 milliwatts to a 2-foot-long antenna and has towers to bounce signals off when there is no line of sight. They also have millions of other users that compete for bandwidth. Thus, depending on how many users there are, and whether there are enough towers to connect the signals, you might not get any service. They are entirely different scenarios.

The 3D photos taken during Apollo 16, definitely show the seam between the 3D foreground, and the flat wall with an image on it. Look at the lone buggy image. They weren't expecting 3D technoligy to go beyond red and cyan glasses.

Pretty much every landscape you photograph will have some sort of dividing line....it means nothing..But here is something that NO ONE mentions about Front Projection ...It doesn't work in bright, direct lighting ( as on a sunlit Moon ) which is why all of Kubrick's 2001 FP scenes were in subdued lighting,,,( dawn dusk etc ) also you cannot have reflective articles in shot ..EG Helmet visors....And yes I have worked with Front Projection on film sets,,

My dad passed in 2020. During the Apollo missions, he was a radio man in the Navy and got to help relay transmissions from the astronauts in space back to NASA and listened to much of these conversations in absolute fascination. A kid from a rural state getting a front row, insider’s seat to the most amazing thing humans ever did. He was proud and would often tell stories about this to me and friends and family and often he would just sigh with astonishment and say “it’s AMAZING we did that!” He was proud of his country, proud of nasa and proud he was involved in small way. He had no tolerance for moonlanding deniers and got in an argument with at least one person about it. It was a small piece of his overall life, but well known to those of us that were close to him and at his funeral, I referenced this well known thing. “As you all know, dad got to work for NASA while in the navy helping to relay signals back and forth to Houston. He got to hear a lot of the conversations. He would tell any of us today that think the moonlandings were fake that if that were TRUE, he never got his share of the hush up money and as we all know, dad would’ve fought this for years until he got his money.” Got a good laugh from everyone and helped set the mood for an otherwise sad day. I knew my dad wouldn’t lie to me about anything, especially after I was an adult and his word is all the proof I need it was real, at least from HIS limited involvement. More personal story than most would mention on here and I hope I haven’t bored people to death, but he was my absolute hero and I still tear up thinking about him. His loss just killed my mom inside and we lost her back in April. RIP to them both.

Regarding the typewritten pages saying A11 rather than All, I have several old manual typewriters, including one made in West Germany. The one used in The Shining is an old German Adler. On almost all typewriters, the number line begins at 2 and runs though 9. 1 is keyed using a lowercase L and zero is keyed using the letter O. For reference, you can look up an Olympia SM3, or even as recently as an SM6. Check out the number line. It’s the same as what you’d find on an Adler.

"How the astronauts got through the Van Allen radiation belt with the technology they had available at the time" By plotting a route through that exposed them for the least amount of time. They got less radiation exposure than you would going for a chest x-ray. "The Astronaut that said that they couldn't go back to the Moon, because NASA lost the technology" NASA no longer has the rockets, factory, equipment, etc. from the original Apollo missions because technology has moved on. We "lost the technology" to build an original Model-T Ford as well, but cars are still a thing.

Moon alien base (or non-alien, whatever) episode or even episodes? YES PLEASE!!! Every time I watch your show, I'm struck by how convincing you are when you're presenting the 'urban legends'. In this particular one, I was flooded with different emotions as the story moved along. At first, I was sure you were going to serve the skeptics their humility for dinner. But then you convincingly had me wondering if everything I saw on the television when I was 4 wasn't real??? The thoughts going through my mind made the room spin and gave me a major dose of melancholy and sadness and even borderline nausea! I'd never really paid that much attention to the conspiracy theory because it made no sense to me why or how that would be be possible. So much had happened prior to our successful mission and after. Then everything ever created would also have to be faked right? My point is, you are such a good story teller that you took my head and put it in a completely different world for a few short minutes. You're a wizard story teller. I must also mention that I knew you could do it. The whole serving the dinner thing. How's Heckelfish btw? He's probably got indigestion from all that humility he ate! Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) is a decent indication of what Hollywood special effects could do at the time - and it’s extremely shonky. It was released before the first Apollo landing and Kubrick's depiction of the Moon's surface differs greatly from its appearance in the Apollo footage. The movement of characters on the Moon in 2001 is different from that of the filmed movement of Apollo astronauts and does not resemble an environment with 1/6 the gravity of Earth.

I read something this afternoon that in The Shining, the scene where Danny is playing, stands up and has the Apollo 11 shirt on, then drifts to the room 237 and next thing we see is him showing up with parents and not saying anything. That was symbolizing him losing his innocence and not being able to say anything about the fake. Then Jack goes in and sees beautiful woman and she turns into the old hag. All that is suppose to symbolize the lift off, then something wrong, then what they think they see is not what it is. And the actress name of the hag, one listing, is Billie X and Bill X is the name of the guy who made the documentary on apollo 13
