In "The Moonstone" (1934), directed by Reginald Barker, a priceless gem from India is stolen within an eerie mansion. The theft sets off a mystery with numerous suspects among the house's occupants. Scotland Yard inspector Charles Irwin, played by David Manners, is called to unravel the mystery. Phyllis Barry and Gustav von Seyffertitz join the cast, adding depth to the ensemble of characters. As Irwin investigates, he navigates through various clues and red herrings to identify the culprit and recover the stolen jewel. The film weaves suspense and intrigue in a classic whodunit style.
It's not a very good colourisation so if you want to watch it in black and white instead, skip to 01:34:48
I downloaded the film from the Archive. I first upscaled this film to FHD using standard AI enhancing. I also used 40% facial AI enhancement. I also increased the frame rate from 27fps to 60fps. That gave me the enhanced black and white version, which I then colourised and lowered the saturation. Using iMove, I stitched both versions into the same upload with some samples of the process.
