​@@craigsands2567Honestly it doesn't look similar in the slightest, The new design has that dumb comb over swoop to one side look. Like he asks for the manager every time he enters a supermarket. Here he looks grunge and a little unkept which makes sense lore wise for tekken 4.

It was probably just how changed some stuff about characters were like kazuya's ewgf not launching normally, And the stage walls not being implemented well. Still a great game and i feel like the tekken story went to shiet when 5 started when it came to some characters

It was the first to do alot of things hence the hit and misses. 1st Tekken to have walls, Wall combos, Wall tech rolls, characters being wet in water, breakable objects, inclining and declining environments, stages that actually curved around during a match that changed the fighting dynamic entirely, the only one to date that allowed characters to move around before the match started, the 1st one to have characters speak in their native languages, the first time true side walking was introduced etc etc etc they really swung for the fences with taking Tekken to the next level which I respect the hell out of. I loved this game for sure, but with doing so much at once, its inevitable that some things are going to misfire. All in all, T4 had some great ideas that I hope can be implemented properly down the line with more experience and planning. Until then, the effort given in this game will now and forever be praised by me. Greatness is never achieved without taking risks💯

It was ahead of it's time in things, way too soon. Tekken 3 had only become a global phenomenon around 2000, so by the time even eastern-Europe picked up on the game en mass (and home consoles have become available everywhere finally), the new console and the new Tekken was already out, effectively ignoring a large market which only started to get their hands on the previous generation. There was literally no chance that the global audience picks up on it even if it had come out on ps1 after a massive hit like Tekken 3 was (one of the most perfect fighting games every created). Also it changed very much about the core aspects of characters who have just become superstars globally - you can't do that with everyone this soon. And even if this installment was the aesthetically and artistically most refined one in some things, it was doomed to fail because of the release window and way too many changes, way too soon. And because of these decisions (and some game-breaking gameplay mechanics) the game flopped, sentencing the series to recycle itself until it barely resembles the essence of Tekken 3 (which really was the first proper fighting game in the series, artistically was a milestone, etc), and as I see more and more gameplay from Tekken 8, it slowly descends into being a Street Fighter copy with different mechanics. Sad.

I started with 3 and tk4 is definitely my least favorite. Something was just "different" about it.

In my opinion the top 3 best Tekken character designs are all from T4: 1) Ling Xiaoyu's tracksuit outfit 2) Damselfly Yoshimitsu 3) Jin Kazama's hoodie outfit Also, from an art direction standpoint T5 was so hit-and-miss compared to its predecessor.

@@sorakazama7031 My personal favorites are probably Tekken 4, Tekken 3, and Tekken 5. Tekken 5 is not the best if we're gonna talk about story though, however, I like it.

T4 had some of the best designs that we never saw again... Paul and king being my faves The simple hair changes add a lot their characters and what point they r in life... Both being at a dark place... Paul for the tournament forfeit and king for the loss of AK to marduk

Don't forget draw the waveform for Paul's ending... Shit hits the feels everytime
