"Bernardo Faria is a 5x World Champion. Bernardo started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Juiz de Fora - MG, Brazil at the age of 14 in 2001. After receiving the Black Belt from his first instructor Ricardo Marques in 2008, He moved to Sao Paulo to join BJJ legend Fabio Gurgel and his Alliance team. After many years of training and winning many major titles, Bernardo moved to NYC in 2013 to train and teach at Marcelo Garcia Academy. I'm only a blue belt with no where near the exp of the king. But I find having double under helps with rocking, especially if you're tight on them. The longer arms and legs you have the easier it is to stick to them and rock them.But once again blue belt here ,only listen if you care to expirament and confirm as well

What about when they grab your ankles? How can I prevent that or do I just make sure I win the hand fighting?

Marcello has method for that. If you're sitting they reach just pummel your feet. So they can't get a hold of your ankles. If they manage to grab kick away and pummel exc.. Always kick away from the open part of the hand to break free. They grab your feet You can also counter. By grabbing for a two on one sweep or go into a drag exc. As soon as they grab an ankle you can grab thier wrist and arm to counter and stop it. Hope this helps I got it off Marcello instructional. Pummeling just means circling your feet away from the hands.

Hearing him describe the sticky hooks and how to do it reminds me a lot of when I trained in wing chun many years ago, the concept of chi sao or sticky hands. As a smaller guy I am finding butterfly guard a good fit for my game.
