My 1937 King Zephyr Special alto is undoubtedly the most beautiful sax. But, my Selmer Mark VI low A bari (bought new in 1971) is the best sounding instrument ever made. IMO, of course.

The brown rollers you mention are made of amber. The key buttons are perlite and not plastic. I have a Top Hat & Cane, built in 1965. I’m a second owner. I bought it in 1962.

As a fellow Buescher Nerd, I will offer the following short list of sax features as Honorable Mentions: 1. The slightly conical key cup shape on the King Zephyr; 2. The slender neck brace on the early Conn 10M tenor; 3. The badge on the neck of the Selmer Balance Action. 👍

Really Nice looking horn I had the Tenor and love them but I currently put my Martin Com III ahead of it in beauty for some reason. That is ahead of saxes I have owned, MKVI (3 of) , SBA, KS20, (2 of) TH&C and a few modern horns. But lovely to see and I have too for one again now ☺

Yes, love the Martins. I have my two beautiful The Martin tenors now. The 1945/46 vintage which was what I learned on as a teenager and a beautiful 1956 vintage which is my primary all purpose horn now. In between those, my first 1965/66 Mk VI got stolen and my replacement 1969 Mk VI got crushed in a car crash in the trunk of a Volvo.. got it restored but never played the same again. Never saw that particular Buescher up close before but looks amazingly constructed and visually as well.. thanks for sharing!!

I'm a sucker for those old stylized American saxophones. The Buescher Top Hat and Cane is probably the crowning jewel of beautiful saxes during the early 20th century. I agree it looks even better than a SBA.

Hey there!! Great video relating to buesher alto sax ( top hat) ! I own a buesher aristocrat alto sax and i love the history that my sax must have from the early years to the moment i been lucky enough to own . Few things i wish to asked and hope you can reply is the i sent this to a repair technician on Saxophone to get an overhaul on the sax. You know replacing pads springs and give it one over. When i got back the tech guy pointed out that few screws was difficult to cone out. So he used a solution to lose them. I believe he submerge the sax into the solution because shortly after the entire sax tarnished. I been devastated because its was beautiful cosmetically speaking. I mean when i purchased it its was very well kept. The only issues was pads and general maintenance. Now how can this be fixed?? Please advise and thanks for a great video

The pronunciation is not "Bush-er" it is pronounced "Bish-er" as illustrated in their advertisements from magazines of the 30s, 40s etc…I've seen these ADs but can't find one at the moment. Matt Stohrer mentions this in his video, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bKh7fNGBqqmnqYU.html

@@Scottsmusiccave I got rid of it because it was too pretty for the small cramped dives I was playing in. Also the sketching walks to my car at 3am. They would have had to pry it from my cold dead hands. Monstrous tone, very complex. Went back to my worn out 10m.
