Nong-O vs. Fabio Pinca is the comeback fight of the year in 2018. Why is the world not raving about it?
Nong-O was a 2x fighter of the year & 5x stadium champion who beat everyone in Thailand except Saenchai.
He came back after a 3 year retirement to beat Fabio Pinca - the only western fighter to have a win against Saenchai in Muay Thai. Pinca is the most skilled western Muay Thai fighter of this era… Consider this, Saenchai’s record against western Muay Thai fighters is ~ 140-1.
In this fight, Nong-O displayed grandmaster skillsets. There are many people who look at this fight and think it was close because Pinca is the one moving forward and chucking flurries. They simply haven’t recognized skill yet. The techniques displayed in this fight are extremely difficult to pull off, especially against someone like Pinca. It is subtle, intricate, and requires a ridiculous degree of fight IQ.
I am making this feature because the world has not recognized an extreme display of skill and an amazing comeback fight. Under Muay Thai scoring, Nong-O completely dominated the fight. He possesses the most beautiful style of Muay Thai.
These sequences exist all throughout the fight. If that cannot be read it means that we have a long way to go for skill literacy. Let me show you what I’m reading... Nong-O was ahead of Pinca on every move, take a look yourself.

Hello all, this is the fight I consider "The Comeback Fight of 2018." Nong-O displays the Most Beautiful Style of Muay Thai - the artistic technician style. I am making this feature because the world has not recognized an extreme display of skill and an amazing comeback fight against arguably the best western Muay Thai fighter of this era. Under Muay Thai scoring, Nong-O completely dominated the fight. These sequences exist all throughout the fight. If that cannot be read it means that we have a long way to go for skill literacy. Let me show you what I’m reading... Nong-O was ahead of Pinca on every move, take a look yourself. He's defeated but not beaten. Neither fighter looked to be knocked out or gasses out, which is typical with tech fighters who have a careful and balanced defense. Low kicks and leg sweeps are things of beauty, and I do not see very many leg sweepers and throws in Western fighters. Being thrown to the ground takes a lot out of you, even in sparring when your opponent will try to catch you so you don't hit too hard. I feel Western fighters would do well to leg sweep and throw as a matter of course during any part of the fight, but it seems rare.

The problem comes when the fighters panic and in this fight the thai fighter was in full control and he was very actively involved in thinking the next moves watching his opponent and adjusting his shots accordingly, this was all possible because he kept the pace of this game down, had the opponent indulged in to the fight too aggressively and would have constantly attacked him he would definitely had to change his plan and would have fought for the survival, but his plan worked and his opponent could not attack him in aggression which resulted in the maestro delivering what he was constantly thinking and doing during the fight, he was enjoying it as the fight was working out his way as he wanted it to be....great work maestro..

Great video! Nong-O is probably my favorite Thai fighter. He's one of the very few(I cant think of any other at this level) Muay Thai fighters(from thailand) that are orthodox...and since I myself am orthodox I learn alot from watching him(and others, like buakaw). I have a hard time learning technique from southpaws like saenchai. Watching these fighters(orthodox fighters) has helped me tremendously in Muay Thai kickboxing, which Ive been doing for over 2 years now. Helps a ton in sparring, gives me ideas, of both offense and defense.

Nong-O fight style is my favourite of the Thais, his defence is second to none and he has classy foot work similar to Saechais.. body kicks are like whips they come out hit you and come straight back in a smooth motion

Thank you, Lawrence Kenshin, your explanations are really an eye opener to me. So far I have seen Muay Thai fights with a minor appreciation. I can see now how much of an ART it is in comparison to boxing or any other Western fighting style. Your videos are definitely brightening my view! By the way: As a result I consider beginning with Muay Thai - and this says something about me 58 year old geezer ;-)

I saw a video on facebook of you with a similar 'fighter profile' thing about Petrosyan, was that a snippet from a future video or is that a short video only for facebook? After watching your videos once in a while it inspired me to go train in kickboxing again, always wanted to get in the ring (as a hobby) but never did. Great videos like always!

Hey LK. I would like to know who your MT GOAT is? I have a clear #1 as Buakaw. I think a really cool video would be you breaking down the top say 8. Seed them 1-8. The #1&2s have a bye. Match them up and the winner of the breakdown moves on. So on until you are left with two. Then do a video about them and their styles and then finally a video about your all time greatest. It would be a tournament of fights that we never got to see fight. I hope I am explaining this correctly. I love watching your videos. I train at BlackHouse under Eduardo Pamplona 3X Pan Am Muay Thai world champion. (Though he recently took over the head striking coach for Evolve MMA which is the owner of One FC’s gym in Singapore). With admiration and respect from all of us mixed martial artist at BlackHouse!
@LawrenceKenshin

I think he's head coach mate! Not striking coach 🙏🙏. The head coach seems to be changing often. As for the seed, it's an interesting concept, but I think a top list would be better 😁🤔
