I learned a lot of British slang from, I can't remember his name, I think it was Andy something, he was a decorated British special forces commando who was a POW in Iraq. He's a smashing good writer, and his book is called Bravo Two Zero. You should read it, if you haven't already, it's a great read, you can't put it down. They made a movie of it, however, I didn't get to see it. I've also learned British slang from Newkirk in Hogan's Heroes and from the Beatles, and from British TV shows like The Saint

What a great lesson. I'll share it with all my colleagues. At least it isn't the 3426 video where you learn "Bob's your uncle". Only advanced voc (I knew some of them by watching Only Fools and Horses"). Question if I may ... In "The thin blue line", "Pear shape" is referred as "London" like expression, is that true?

"Cobblers" can also be considered rude, if you know the background. It's cockney rhyming slang from "Cobbler's awls" - the thing cobblers use to make holes in leather. I'll let you work out what "Cobbler's awls" rhymes with!

Here's an example of things going pear-shaped... A couple of years ago, my mum watched a video where someone took an apple and carved it to the point where it looked like a swan. She tried to recreate that, but instead of making it look like a swan, she ended up making it look like the Loch Ness Monster with an erect penis. And how pear-shaped is that? So pear-shaped that it's one of my favorite memories.

The british slang word I want to share with you is the verb to whinge. It means to complain, especially about something that does not seem important. Now some fresh examples for you all: 1. Oh stop whinging, for heaven's sake! 2. She's always whinging (on) about something. 3. She had nothing to whinge about. 4. You whine and whinge and think of no one but yourself. 5. I am not going to whinge that the weather in Scotland is always colder than in England. Love you all

'Cocky' has nothing to do do with the male member. It comes from the cock or male chicken who struts around the farmyard as if he owns the place. 'Knackered' can also mean something is broken, maybe beyond repair. "I've got to take the car to the garage it's knackered"
