The Most Controversial Pastor in America? | Douglas Wilson | Zero Hour | Ep 37

Is Douglas Wilson, the pastor of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, the most interesting pastor in America? His critics would say he's the most controversial, but Pastor Wilson explains why he doesn't shy away from the culture wars and challenges the audience to stop angering God and "make America Christian again." He also addresses why he believes Christians get a bad reputation and wades into the debate over the new buzzword "Christian nationalism." And how should Christians navigate the digital world, which seems to devalue humanity? "You don't want to lock yourself up in a Dilbert cubicle for Jesus," Wilson says. He argues it's possible to use the same technology to bring families together.

I am a new Christian coming from a life time of atheism/agnosticism and i have been asking around to my local Christian friends about where I can find a real church. I had described my desire as not wanting to go to a church that worships the government. I get quite a few blank stares on that statement. Im so glad to have discovered DW on Tucker the other day and to learn that there are some Christians who think this way! Now i need to find a local church. Im in Canada so it will be tough. 😓

Look up the CREC and see if you can find a church close to you! If not, email one of those pastors and ask them if they can recommend one in your area. A good church cannot be underestimated. It shapes your life in many ways!

Quite simply, the very person that we are commanded to emulate, was crucified for his ministry, by people who didn't like being called out for their sinful ways. If satan isn't coming for you, then you aren't worshipping the Risen Savior. Using the modern parlance, You better check yourself before you wreck yourself. Or the Biblical phrasing, What profit it a man if he gain the entire world, but lose his eternal soul.

This isn't really true, this is black pill Christianity and not at all what Doug and us CREC (the denomination he's part of) folks believe, which is why we aren't pathetic defeated groveling idiots like most modern "Christians". We have a mindset of dominion and victory. Jesus went through what he did for us, we don't have to do the same and we could not. Also, Jesus in his death and resurrection crushed the head of the serpent, became King of the world and sits at the right hand of the Father until all His enemies will be put under His foot stool. He will use us as His church to accomplish this. We are commanded to build Christ's Kingdom on earth and take dominion and disciple all the nations to bring them under His authority. Christians knew this for about 1800 years, it's time we get back to it. The version and view of Christianity you believe has been utterly destructive to itself and it is brand new historically speaking. It's fruit is rotten and it needs to go. Frankly it's Satan's greatest act of deception since the garden. It's also very stupid to compare us to early Christians who had to suffer immensely to begin to build the church. It's unspeakably disrespectful and borderline heretical to do so. We are not 1st century martyrs. They with their devotion established early churches and then Christians built for almost 2 millennia, they built a world that got more and more beautiful with many Christian nations. We are the benefactors of all that they have done. We have lost our way and because of it things have declined from their peak. But that just means we need to get back to our roots and build again. Do not compare yourself to Jesus with his sacrifice, or to first century martyrs. It's incorrect, morally wrong and incredibly stupid and defeatist to do so.

I haven’t listened to Beck in a good long while. I tend to agree with him on lots of things. But until he repents of and repudiates his Mormonism, I would take ANYTHING he said about “Christian nationalism” with a huge grain of salt. You’re talking about a religion that both denies fundamental Biblical doctrine, and elevates the Founders’ writings to the same level of Divine inspiration as Scripture.

@@PanhandleFrank Yes, I listened to him a lot when he was on the radio many years ago because he made sense, but he kept talking about being a "truth" seeker and that "truth matters" so I waited to hear his repudiation of his faith. @@PanhandleFrank What's wrong with Mormonism?
@PanhandleFrank
@PanhandleFrank 2 ай бұрын
@@matthewphilip1977 It's an entirely made-up religion that presents lies about Jesus, and is utterly irreconcilable with the Scriptures of the OT and NT. Two examples come immediately to mind: 1. J. Smith claimed that God told him that all Christian denominations were false, and an abomination to God. This contradicts Jesus' promise that the gates of Hell would not prevail against His church. 2. The fraudulent "Book of Abraham." Are you asking as a Mormon, or as a "gentile" (their term for non-Mormons)?

I was raised nominally Catholic, and “saved Baptist” (heard and believed the Gospel in a Baptist church), 43 yrs ago. I knew that certain Protestants still baptized their babies, but just chalked it up to a failure to wipe ALL the Catholic dirt off their shoes after the Reformation. In 1999, we began attending a CREC church (Wilson’s denomination), and asked about Protestant infant baptism. The pastor (a former Baptist) gave me the book _Children of the Promise_ by Robert Booth. Booth had been a Baptist pastor who’d been fielding lots of Qs on paedobaptism from his congregation, so he decided to set out to prove it was unbiblical. The Bible changed his mind. And _Children of the Promise_ helped change ours. $13 from P&R publishing … 🙂

I appreciate a lot of what Doug says but I think in some parts he comes across a bit naive. To think that Christian nationalists, if we take his hypothetical around the 37:30 minute mark that should they get into power and then cross a line when they start to shut down other denominations or religions, and then says our detractors will say see we told you that this is what you would do, and then the nationalists would reply, well does that make God angry, with the supposed answer of course being yes, and then those nationalists in power will say, oh my gosh we are acting in a manner which we said we wanted to eradicate forgive us and we will lift the embargo, is living in a fools paradise, this is acting naively. As Sidlow Baxter stated of Isreal with its statehood “Never was there such high calling with such deep sinning.” To trust Christians with the reigns of power and to say they would act without corruption and if exposed that they would instantly regret it and change is as stated, naive to the extreme. We only have to look at Church history and the failings within churches now to show that Christian leaders will fail and then use the reigns of their power where possible to impose their will. Of course I agree that “righteousness exalts a nation” and all giftings within a nation should strive to the beautiful and the good but this, as best as I can tell from Scripture is a work the Spirit within a man. Therefore the Church if it wants a nation to do things that please God then stick to preaching the gospel and have people regenerated and then want to please God from within instead of imposition without through the ballot box. For even if imposed from without we have still done them , the unbelievers, a disservice for that individual is still spiritually dead and lost. I can be extremely ill and live in conditions that exacerbate my situation and some benevolent soul can place me in the best care home and I can enjoy all the aesthetics that my new surroundings give me but if I am not given the remedy for my illness I still die but only in sweeter surroundings. That is what happens with the nationalist they beautify the outside of the cup but leave the inside as it is. So the unbeliever enjoys the surroundings but still dies and goes to hell because he himself has not been brought under the Lordship of Christ only the lordship of Christian rules. That is why the Church should stick to the mandate given to it by Christ in Matt 28:19-20. Do that and we will not need legislative bodies dictating laws to individuals as each individual would be under the Lordship of Christ and filling the law without the written code but through the indwelling Spirit.

Concerning "global," "tribal," or "national," I would like to respectfully submit that I am a federalist, meaning that a federation of smaller government banded together as one republic. (I suppose that is a meld of national and tribal.) I think nationalism as a political philosophy is part of what has eroded the federal republic of the original American experiment. I also like to use the term "free-market." This forces the globalist to be confronted with their objections to a free-market. Therefore I am not a Christian Nationalist. I am a Christian Free-market Federalist. I would challenge the leftist to explain what any three of those terms are bad.

But whose rules are those? That's God's law.

The most controversial pastor ?! Right, he ''preaches' God only loves a few 'elect' people and the rest, well, they can go to Hell, because, well, God predestined, preordained and decreed everything that is happening now at creation! So why these Calvinists/feformers even bother to preach is indeed a mystery!

Doug Wilson said we need to turn back to God... I wish he had said we need to turn back to the God of the Bible Who is the Lord Jesus Christ and Who is the only way to the God of the Bible. I wish Doug Wilson had made a distinction between his God, the the True Living Christian God...and Glenn Beck's god, who is the god of Mormanism and is a lie and is no god. Mormons are not Christians. I wish Doug Wilson had made this distinction. We are co-belligerents with Glenn Beck and Mormons.... not allies.

@@PanhandleFrankMy understanding is that BlazeTV is part of the Glenn Beck organization. Glenn Beck regularly talks about "the gospel" and "Jesus Christ", etc., but the Mormon method of operation is to use all the same words as Christians but with different meanings. When you look at their official doctrine they believe very weird, un-orthodox, un-Biblical things about God and Christ. Glenn Beck portrays himself as a Christian, but also a Mormon............ if he had really become a Christian, then why hasn't he renounced his Mormonism and been excommunicated by the Mormon church.... if mean if he had just recently been born again and was a new Christian, you could say that all the ramifications of Mormonism and Christianity just haven't come together in his mind yet.... but he's been claiming to be a Christian, and has been using "Christian" words and concepts, etc. for at least 10 years or more.... something fishy is going on..... If he has really become a Christian, why hasn't he publicly repented of his Mormonism. And since (as I understand it) BlazeTV is part of the Glenn Beck organization... I smell a rat.... but as Doug Wilson has said in a recent podcast, Glenn Beck and BlazeTV can be co-belligerents... because they are fighting for basically the same thing... but totally not for the same reasons.... so never can they be allies, unless and until Glenn Beck publicly repents of his Mormonism, affirming his faith in the true, living God and Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible.

Doug Wilson is very clear on the fact that Mormons are not Christians. Plus Mormons say there are "3 Gods of this Earth", so many would probably affirm the distinction you (rightly) made.

@@MansterBear Oh, I know he is very clear about it.... I just wish he had made more of a distinction in this interview on the Mormon's own turf.... I think maybe he must have been referring to this interview in a (recent?) post/video on "Blog and Mablog" where he specifically distinguished that Glenn Beck and he are "co-belligerents" and *not* allies.... I just wish he had drawn some distinct lines in this interview.
