For our Five hundred subscriber special I'm covering the one animation style that was doomed from the outset. Syncro-Vox!

I feel like Syncro-Vox would be perfect to use in a scary cartoon. Even Courage the Cowardly Dog used it in the Magic Tree of Nowhere.

Yeah I remember that episode. Basically It all depends on the style of genres you're going for.

I've used Synchro-Vox in that exact same fashion; In every review of the scene people say the live-action mouth looks really creepy. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hNmmhZCls9mdZWg.html

I always felt Syncro-Vox only works when used ironically, like for humor or creepy factor to give something a surreal or off-putting edge. To name another example that wasn't mentioned, one SpongeBob KZfaq Poop by NPCarlsson used Resetti in place of The Flying Dutchman, only he had a Syncro-Vox mouth to match up with his sentence mixing. It adds to the absurdity of the rest of the YTP because of how jarring and yet hilarious the effect is.

I remember when the Goosebumps "Haunted Mask" TV specials used Syncro-Vox for the plaster head bust of Carly-Beth speaking, and that was already live-action! "Help me. Please, help me."

4:40 Exactly my thoughts when I saw this. Just having the characters robotically flap their mouths open and closed or even complete stills would look far better and less eerie than that technique.

I remember a gun PSA I watched in 1st grade (I think it was same the eagle or something) where the entire thing was fully animated, but there was a police officer character (who was replaced by a live action scene later) who was a still image drawn in americana style with a synchro vox mouth. Weird memory but this reminded me of it.

Actually, the Annoying Orange TV show bombed after *two* seasons! And even then, the show didn't bomb. The ratings were surprisingly solid. The two-part series finale even got 3.56 million viewers. It's just that DaneBoe's studio was shut down due to Collective Digital Media, which ended up getting acquired by ProSiebenSat.1 Media, shutting down its film and television division. Cartoon Network probably didn't want to fund the show anymore so it got cancelled. 🤓

Honestly syncro-vox dying with annoying orange makes sense a bit. It matches the most with the live action or CGI (with the eyes as well) and was the most sincere use since the first studio.

@Shoop400 Жыл бұрын
@@Steamerthesteamtrain "Tweening" Or rigged animation is how All Modern 3D CGI animation is done (Unless you want to manipulate individual points like in Crash 1) Even the recent trend of stylized 3D animation still uses "tweening" for certain elements. (Though most of it is using step tangents.) As for 2D Rigged animation, I've seen it done well, most of which were ones that had the budget and time to make it look good. Turns out cheap animation looks cheap regardless of the medium.
