For those that think tweaking a recipe isn’t a proper review? Just to make it clear … I had to tweak your wonderful recipe for my husbands sake. He wanted me to add cinnamon to this recipe. I appreciate your recipes as they are however, it’s not meant to take away any credit from your time and effort in the recipes you post and share with us youtube viewers. Many thanks for this recipe. I had to restart my sourdough starter from scratch and used it to make this recipe. My son loves sourdough and raisin bread so this is perfect. Have tried this once a week for the past few weeks just to test my starter and it has turned out great each time. A good recipe if you dont want the multiple streches and folds.

This is my second time making this bread. My hubby not much of a sourdough fan but he sure did like this one. This one is a keeper. I added orange zest to the recipe this time. Turn out yummy.

Great video. I just made this bread from your blog recipe a few minutes ago and am now waiting for it to proof. While I was waiting I thought I'd look and see if you had a video of it.. Sure enough here it is. I wasn't sure about the rolling of the dough and the texture when I did it without the video. So this sure helps. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.

I am super new to sourdough. It took me almost 2 months to get my starter active but now it is going crazy. I just made my sixth loaf using your recipe as a guide. I didn’t use walnuts because I don’t like them,🤷‍♀️ I put some cinnamon sugar with the raisins. I also am letting it rest and will do stretch and folds a few times then I’ll put it in the fridge. I’ll take it tomorrow morning or afternoon. If I think of it, I will let you know how it comes out. This was by far the more manageable recipe I found after viewing quite a few.

DELICIOUS I hate it when commenters revuiew a recipe that they have changed many of the ingredients. It's not a valid review for the recipe and I don't appreciate it. That is just what I'm going to do here. 🙄 But what I'm really commenting on, is the wonderful teacher you are. I am not an adventurous cook and you have given me so much permission to experiment which I rarely do. I changed ingredients because that was what I had on hand; cranberries, pecans, maple syrup and day old starter. What a risk. The loaf is a bit of a large very fat pancake but it is amazing. You are changing my sourdough life. BTW. I used discard starter to thicken a gravy. I figured it's mostly flour, it should work and it did ❤

Hi Mary, hope this update finds you in the best of health and well being🙏🏻Here’s the update on walnut raisin loaf (not boule), came out beautiful and very tasty. It was truly a sky scraper for sure. I baked it in a glass loaf pan and it was more than doubled in side ❤ Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes. I tweaked the recipe by adding plant base butter spread on dough and Truvia and Cinnamon like you would a cinnamon roll. It really came out delicious 👍🏼😉if I could send a picture I would have attached one😉

As in mix dough first then add (any kind of) ingredients like you did in this video right? Just making sure🤦🏽‍♀️Mary❤thank you for sharing this recipe of walnut raisin bread. 🙋🏽‍♀️I tweaked it a bit as I wanted to make it into a loaf plus I added a bit of plant base butter and cinnamon & sugar like you would cinnamon rolls. I am baking it at this time🤷🏽‍♀️I hope it comes out. Love the boule you made however, I wanted to change up the texture hoping to get a bread loaf of walnut raisin cinnamon loaf of bread. I will give you the update on the loaf I’m baking, once it’s baked and cooked for slicing🫣☺️

OMG this loaf is a sky scraper 😂looks like I could have used two loaf pans 😊it’s been baking for 20 minutes at 425 I’m baking it for another 20 minutes at 325. Keeping an 👁on it as it is nice and golden brown at this time. Still baking…

Mostly, my husband puts a couple of tablespoons in a bowl and adds raw honey on top and sometimes a few chocolate chips. He could eat that every single day ha ha!

I would put a cup of steaming water in my oven and put the dough in there covered. The steam and warmth should work just fine. Also, turn the light on in your oven if you have one. Thanks so much for sharing! I appreciate that!

I think Kamut has a buttery taste, Einkorn has an earthy flavor, and Spelt has a strong nutty flavor. We prefer Spelt over all the others. It's just a pleasant taste for any bread product. I prefer Kamut for pasta. Einkorn makes some really good pancakes. You are most welcome!

Mine is set to about 78-85 degrees. I will go up and down but not over or under those numbers.

How do you store your bread? I want it to stay fresh, but i want the crust to stay crispy. There's only 3 of us so we don't eat it really fast. We don't eat many sandwiches, mostly toast or sliced with butter. I just found your channel a few days ago, so im a new subscriber.

Thanks for subscribing! One way to store bread is to cut it in half and store it against a cutting board with the crumb side down. This keeps the crust somewhat crispy and the crumb fresh for a few days. I also like to use one of the glass cake dishes with a lid to store it this way as well.

I suggest at least 2 hours. It will still keep baking out of the oven for a while. I may be gummy if you cut it too soon.

Your printed recipe says 3.5-4 cups of flour 😢. I used 3 cups but the dough was sooo dry. It was very difficult to get the raisins and walnuts to mix in. If it turns out good, I'll be amazed. 😮

@@TheRoseHomestead I hope you do I made a dark chocolate raspberry one but my dough was very wet it happens all the time when I use bread flour it called out for 500 g bread flour and 425 g of water 💦 and I used a scale . But when I follow your recipes I never have that problem I don’t get what is wrong. So I really hope you do a dark chocolate chocolate chip raspberry I used freeze dried raspberries . Please make one because then I know it will come out perfect 😍

@@TheRoseHomestead Tried this recipe yesterday. I made a few changes - I didn't have any raisins so I used Craizins and I didn't have honey so I used maple syrup. Baked it in a loaf pan and it rose nicely, made a beautiful loaf and it's delicious. I'll be making it again for sure. So thank you for this.

Yes. This recipe will work with either all purpose or whole wheat flour.

I always put a towel over my artisan loaves as soon as they come out of the oven to soften the crust. We don't like it rock hard either.
