Capable of handling all terrains and scenarios, Chris Harris takes the Porsche 911 Dakar for a drive around Lydden Hill Circuit in Kent. Testing the car both on tarmac and on gravel, the true capabilities of the car get put to the test. Is this the coolest variant of the 911?
Starting at £173,000 without options, the car tested will set you back £196,000! Would you want to be sat behind the wheel?

Those who have dared to take out their four-wheel drive 911 with good winter tires in the middle of the Swedish winter have discovered the following: They have, for several generations back, been unexpectedly capable and fun! But during the snowy, slushy season, of course the Dakar now has the best looks (and ground clearance) of them all.

I think Porsche will make another Dakar version when they make another generation of 911. Dakar will be only a version of 911, like Gt2 or Gt3 so it won't be so colectible in the future. The price of Dakar is incredibly high so this 2500 need a lot of marketing to sell it. In Poland, Romania , Hungary you still can order it with any problems.

One of the few times you’ll see a Dakar doing what it was designed and intended to do. The vast majority will be driven from a pristine garage, via a wet, gravel car park located near some manicured green space, (to get the splashed mud effect), on the way to a chi-chi neighbourhood cafe where they’ll be parked up for a morning’s gentle posing.

GBP173k + options, but this one with livery and roll cage probably costs 193k. I spec'd one for the road at 184k (shade green metallic, summer tyres, 18-way seats). IMO, it's the ultimate Chelsea tractor. GT3 is great for smooth tarmac and where revving to 9,000 in any gear but first doesn't lose your licence. For UK roads in general, parking in paddocks, and driving the likes of the North Coast 500, this is the ultimate 911, IMO. Chris Harris is simply telling it as it is. Bravo for daring to challenge most people's thinking.

@@SenszR which is total crap that it’s too harsh for the road, Chris even said when he reviewed the silver Touring that it was fine. He also made mention that in another video that a lot of his reason for keeping the 991.2 Touring was that he already had like 50k miles and his dog basically lives in it, and that he is emotionally attached to that car and keeping both wasn’t something he particularly wanted to do……and that the new 992 Touring had a very expensive brown interior that he said he was having a hard time with giving the dog free rein to potentially destroy. Every person with a 991.2 GT3 wants to think they have the superior car so they want to believe that Chris got rid of the 992 as a result of it somehow being inferior
