He does beat Liu Kang in Scorpion's Revenge, but then gets one-shot-surprise attacked by Scorpion who is above God-tier in the animated movies.

The thing about Goro is he actually isn't a fat jobber who holds L's like the nrs games tell you. He actually is very honorable, complimenting Kung Lao's ancestor and telling him that he was almost equal, and that if GKL won it would probably be Goro's kid going after Kung Lao. He even put aside his differences to join sides in diplomacy, and is probably the most honorable fighter to his lineage, even when KK cut off his arms he told KK to kill him, so he didnt face shame from his own kind. But nah, fuck that. He's big and strong, so he's gotta be a jobber. Hopefully this changes but if it's the same writers as the ones for mk11 then I am certain he's gonna get clowned on some more

Goro didn’t get replaced by Kintaro, nor was he hated by him. They were allies. Kintaro thought Goro died in MK1 so he vowed to avenge his friend. It’s even part of his bio in MK Trilogy

Conversely, Kotal de-arming Goro is one of Kotal's best and most badass moments in Mortal Kombat, considering how badly Kotal gets bodied in the games.

I hated how Goro was treated in the newer movie, it broke my heart. Goro has always been one of my favorite characters since the first MK. I still remember how hyped I was when they first made him playable back in mk 4. He's a great character with a simple but affective design and he's easily one of the most iconic characters in the franchise.

How could you miss the most obvious L in MK11, you fight in front of his corpse. Also, I don’t think Movie Johnny is “strong” so much as he plays it smart and to his strengths.

In fairness, the dialogues that trash on Goro can be seen as just hate. The guy had no arms, his father was killed by Kotal, and he was made into an embarrassment. So knowing that he, without arms, captured Kenshi and became Onaga’s vessel was really the only thing left for him to climb back up from rock bottom. The Cole battle I’ll agree on, it should’ve been Kintaro or Movado while Goro fought everyone else and leaves after knocking everyone down.

They should have given Goro cybotic Jax arms in the comics, total wasted opportunity there!

Fun fact!!! Goro is half dragon. You know how most dragons are depicted having 6 limbs? 2 legs 2 arms and 2 wings (which are just modified arms like in birds and bats). This dragon DNA is why Goro has 4 arms. Also why he breathes fire! Pretty cool character design.

Talk about disrespect! Kotal gets consistently made to look like a tomato can! He was a beast in the comics. Not so much in the games, well, cutscenes anyway.

I think that goro's size reduction in mkx is actually a big W. They had to make him smaller and weaker to be FAIR to fight against.

It would have been better is Goro had, after being defeated a few times, felt his place slipping, and wandered off to train and clear his mind and soul, and improve himself as a warrior. He is no longer interested in being a ruler. His titles such as "Prince" or "champion" mean nothing to him. All Goro desires is to be the strongest again. His story would parallel Liu Kang's rise and fall then rise again, and the two face each other in a final confrontation for the fate of Outworld. During that story line, both Liu Kang and Goro learn of each other's struggles and plight and even their motivations and grow to respect each other despite never having meant until the end. And instead of hating or fearing each other, they literally sit down as friends, break bread together, then part prepared to fight each other one last time. Goro defeats Liu Kang but does not kill him. There is no crowd to please. He does not hate Liu Kang. There is no glory in it. All he desires is to be the strongest in all the realms. He wanders off again to train and improve himself daring any who would to face him. (And Sheeva hints she wants to have his baby) After "MK 11: Aftermath", Fire god Liu Kang seeks out Goro to test their might...

Prince Goro, ruler of the subterranean realm of Shokan, teleports to buttfuck Arkansas into a frigging shed to surprise a nobody. Like WTF. I’m pretty sure that Cole Young winning against Goro in the 2021 movie was meant to show that he was becoming a better fighter than before and how cool and powerful his new armor ability is, but it didn’t just entirely work in their favor.

I really love Goro's depiction in the first Mortal Kombat movie. He's still just a villain in that film, but he's absolutely a badass, with the practical effects used to make him being ridiculously realistic for the time they were made and the whole atmosphere surrounding him being of true menace. And yeah, he did loose to Johny Cage, but the movie is well written and shows that he was of course a threat and that Cage earned that victory, instead of making you feel like Goro's a complete goon. It's truly one of the best aspects of that old movie, and one of the few things that aged really well.

Goro was my favorite MK character starting with the original. Seeing him get destroyed by Cole...who was already the dullest character in the history of characters (slight exaggeration lol) Just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

The reason Liu Kang and Johnny Cage are so ridiculous in early MK is that the games were heavily inspired by "Enter the Dragon" and they're the equivalent of Bruce Lee and John Saxon. They're basically the co-protagonists.

Goro was THE BOSS in the first game. Not a single arcade player back then cared about Shang Tsung. It was all about Goro. True story: my best friend and I discovered a glitch in MK1 for Super Nintendo that allowed you to play as Goro. You couldn't do special moves, and if you uppercutted the game froze, but it worked. We called Nintendo Power and walked them through it and they paid us 7 bucks each. We didn't have a subscription, so I never found out if they published it.

Goro has been one of my favourites MK characters of all time. MKX will forever be THE BEST MK game for making him playable and be quite fun to use. I never got to fully master him, but I enjoyed everything he was.
