A few things I want to point out I think you misunderstood the term mutant I believe it’s referencing that at one point demons and a race of outworlders cross bred to form a genetically mutated race tarkahaten itself is the mutation and once they start breeding they became there own race also I believe that originally in mk2 baraka was hit with the hat fatality which is why he wasn’t in mk3 had the chest staples in mk4 and fought Kung Lao in Armageddon and I also think nrs confirmed it was a random tarkahton soldier that the xenomorph takes over since he is dead by that point

I love how you just described how to make the villains more THREATNING, In MK 11 they seem to be dividing the storys to be part bad guy/good guy, So this video is a prime example of how to do better in story mode for future sake!

you actually did miss a loss. the very design of mk 4 baraka was due to kung lao splitting him in half in mk II where he was then resurrected by quan chi. also baraka probably removed himself from mk9 cuz he probably needed private time after achieving many a guy's wish of being stepped on by that particular jade...

Blame the rigid chapter system combined. Combine this with favoritism for trilogy characters and random fights to fill time and you get 90% of the cast jobbing at the flip of a coin.

@@milkmonstrosity Story Mode needs some tweaking and the Aftermath route seems a way to go, but I don't want the story to be as unstructured as it was during half the OG timeline, we had many subplots and characters not related to the main story like: - Noob, Mileena, the Cyborgs during MK3, the first 2 were sided with Shinnok, just spying and the Cyborgs after Sub-Zero. - Sektor/Cyrax during MK4/MKGold, still after Sub-Zero - Cyrax/Nitara/Reptile on Deadly Alliance - Noob/Smoke, Sub-Zero & Kenshi vs Hotaru, Chaos vs Order, Ashrah on Deception, the most fillers subplots on the series. I'm not even going to try with Armageddon since not all characters had bios or appeared during the story.

I love how a few of Baraka's Ws are due to the fact that he isn't just a Tarkatan, but their rightful leader, and as such he is not only the strongest, but also the smartest. He led the successful attack to Liu Kang's Shaolin Temple in 2, in his 2 ending he becomes the new Kahn of Outworld, in his Trilogy ending he exploits Shao Kahn's weakened state to kill him and flee, in his Gold ending he does die, but it's due to him actually having some moral standards that Quan Chi Lacks, in his Deception ending he doesn't just rush Mileena head on, but he ambushes her exploiting her inferior sense of smell, and in his 9 ending, he uses his sense of smell again to thwart Shang Tsung's attempt at usurping the Throne, making the Tarkatan Shao Kahn's new elite race over the Shokan and the Centaurs.

Yea the villains were way more intimidating during the 3D era. They actually had a presence during konquest mode where they either made life extremely difficult or straight up killed people/ entities on the good side.

I've said it once, and I'll continue to say it 'till the day I die: Netherrealm needs to make a game that either takes place from the villains' point of view, or include a split story mode when you can choose to play both the heroes' or villains' side. Because let's be real... MK's bad guys are WAY cooler than the good guys, and it's about time they got to shine.

I think what made the Tarkartans powerful is their large numbers, all of them having arm blades but Baraka is the alpha chief. He’s more about whatever suits his tribe and loves war, easily swapping sides in Skarlet’s tower ending where he decaps Kitana in service. As for MK 9 story, I think his absence was kinda explained in his intro dialogue with Kano about the weapons he sold them malfunctioning.

Baraka was one of my first favorite charecter it is so sad to see how the writers treat him. In my opinion They could make him playable in story mode rather than sheeva in mk11 aftermath where he has an arc to team up with the good guys for his race.

All the villains are jobbers,all of them are losers,i dont understand the point of mocking a villain because he doesnt win fights,when none of them do. I would argue Baraka is one of the better ones because he receives development at one point. he is better than Noob,Ermac and Sektor that only exist in the story mode to be destroyed by the good guys.

Christina Azarian,Shao was a jobber in MK11 story mode,but aftermath fixed that,but you also expect that NRS studios would respect Shao due to his iconic status but they still reduced him to a dumb brute that can be used as a pawn by everyone. In mk9 he wasnt that great either,we never saw him winning a fight on screen.

Kye Dysarthria,im talking about the NRS games and in them,Noob and Ermac dont matter at all. The villains in these games are worthless jobbers,so i find it weird that Baraka gets criticism for not winning fights when none of the bad guys get to win in these games.

@@user-ru6nz6vt7n the mythologies games are still cannon to the nrs time-line, so his accomplishments in those games still count. Also Ermac defeated Jonny cage and Jax in mk9(also most likely smoke since raiden said that he was defeated as well). So no, it's not strange that Baraka and reptile are treated as bigger jokes than say Ermac and noob, since the latter two actually have canonical wins over significant charcters; unlike the former two.

Some things that I'd love to see in MK12, are for all of the base roster kharacters to have their own chapter, also for there to be a chapter select, so that people can leave story mode if needed, and come back to it.

Baraka has always been one of my favorites since the early days of MK2-MKTrilogy. Pretty much all characters in MK Trilogy are close to my heart. I loved his gameplay during the beta in MK 11 which is why he’s one of my mains. Despite the criticism of MK11 it does redeem some characters like Liu Kang become a fucking God, Baraka and Sheeva being equal to Kitans as Kahnum. Sadly not everyone gets that sort of treatment, like Sindel. Half of the characters in the MK games are just wasted potential with little to no development character or character arc. Baraka, Rain, Noob Saibot, Ermac, Smoke, Reptile, Goro, Kintaro, Kabal, Jade, Sindel I can go on honestly. These characters and so many others deserve to be fleshed out in terms of story and character arcs.

Like in MK Shaolin Monks when him and his Tarkatan army attack the Shaolin temple, he defeated Sonya and kidnapped her to Outworld. And in MK Rebirth(if anyone remembers that) he beat and killed Cage . I don't know if that counts but the fight at least was cool.

How did Jade go from calling Baraka a dog and stepping on him, to giving the victory to Shao Kahn and almost getting herself and Kotal Kahn killed over some Tarkatan blood.

Couple of things to note: 1. Baraka wasn't in Deadly Alliance, all of that footage is from Deception; 2. he actually does appear in MK9 after Jade's chapter, he is in throne room after Shao Kahn's death and he suggests that Mileena should be new Kahn. He disappears completely after that scene, though; 3. Baraka actually takes a "W" in MK: Rebirth (which was sort of prototype for Legacy series) in which he kills Johnny Cage. But he is also a human serial killer with knives attached to his arms there, so I don't know if this one should even count.

Funny enough, Netherrealm actually listened to UnderDawg, Baraka finally got a chapter in MK1 and isn't just a punching bag, he's a good guy with a nice backstory

In the first MK movie, all of the masked goons on Shang Tsung's island are Baraka mutants but you never see their face (Source: Christopher Lambert GamePro Interview where he refers to them as "Barakas"). Their bladed gauntlets are actually the smaller shard blades coming out of their arms.

Poor guy gets the short end of the Tarkatan skewer. SPOILERS FOR MK1. Luckily, he finally got a decent break in the newest game, even though he's suffering a ghoulish disease this time. He actually helps in an important way and his whole deal is that he's trying to help his people survive. And if you so choose, he finally gets to be the literal "chosen one" that puts Shang Tsung in his place. Yeah, he's one of the potentially final playable characters in story mode!

Boy oh boy 🤣 when me and my brother were younger, we made a joke about baraka. the joke was that after every tournament all the cast from the game would get together and have a barbecue. They would all bring different foods, but baraka would bring broccoli, and no one wanted to eat Baraka's broccoli everyone we’re just walked past and he’s just standing there looking around hoping someone will just take one. And then that random Tarkatan from Deception "Baraka is our leader!!!" would be a kiss ass and act like he wanted some but baraka wouldn’t let him 🤣🤣🤣 this just unlocked a core memory

Not video related but am I the only one who thinks NetherRealm should stop creating villains with op abilities and make them lose in very dumb ways...Eg:Noob,cetrion and Geras
