KZfaq: • The best camping spot ...
We used the Chogoria gate which is about a 4hr drive from Nairobi. We drove ourselves there but there is an option of getting a driver to pick you up.
The trip costs KES 10,000 (USD 100) per person per day. We took a total of three days to go to Lake Ellis, Lake Michaelson and back. The total cost was KES 30,000 (USD 300)per person for 3 days. It was overall such a beautiful experience.
Definitely recommend!

I tried watching as i read the comments but eventually stopped. The viewwwws..... wooow! Impressed with how the guides arranged the whole climb. Muchai did a great job on the drone shots...as usual.🙂 I could feel the cold all the way here....🥶. This video should be nominated for an award.💛💛

Did this route last year in August in a day. It was more of a run. Started at Chogoria gate at 7am to lenana peak then exited at Sirimon by 9pm. It drizzled for a while, the cold was insane but we (I was with 3 other ladies) had to keep moving. Need I add we were reported at KWS HQ 😀 we found some official waiting for us. Thing is people (mostly men and foreigners) do day hikes (more of a run) to the peak from Sirimon and back same route. Chogoria day hike was a new thing and especially an attempt from ladies. The KWS guy at Chogoria was horrified when we told him we will be exiting from Sirimon that evening. His reaction was priceless 🤭😊. Anyway, glad that we made them believe it's doable.

I got to hike the mountain through this gate Sept last year. We did it as group of like 80people but only got to L. Ellis & Mugi Hill. I wished more Kenyans could appreciate this gem a little more by visiting it frequently. You can't imagine my relief when I saw this video.
