Urahara made a device which had some Hollowfication type ability for a small period which could give the stolen bankai back. By then the gap was closing and all Ichigo did was weaken him so Urahara's seal would activate. Concise enough for me. Yamamoto could have done the same but Yama always gets the short end of the stick.

Even after Ywhach’s first war on the Soul Society left the Quincies decimated, they refused to end their practice of destroying hollows. I'm positive it has to do with Hell, since Hell was separate from the other realms to begin with.

Looks like someone didn't read CFYOW... Ichibei didnt want death. He did none of it. The 5 noble familes did it. Reio was killing so many hollows that he was threatening the world as it was, exactly like the manga/anime explains about quincies when they kill hollows. The 5 noble familes wanted to split the world and use Reio as the lynchpin, which he willingly agreed to do, that would keep the 3 worlds separate. But the five noble familes ended up betraying Reio and mutilated his body thinking one day Reio might not want to be imprisoned anymore and cause the world to fall apart. Ichibei didnt want death and he certainly didnt take away anyone's immortality.

Actually No... Shunsui was disgusted by that idea of using Ichigo like that. You can see Shunsui worrying in the anime cour 2 episode 1 itself. If you read the novel, you will know the conversation between ichibei and Shunsui after TYBW. Ichibei literally made a sadistic joke that making ichigo into a speechless vegetable would be boring while Shunsui was fuming in anger and disgust, he literally stopped using honorifics while talking to ichibei, which is clearly stated. Shunsui knew it but was definitely not ok with it.

Ichibei: My my, how can you speak so disparingly of our dignified founders? The relationship between Ichibei and the Nobles are one of the things fans have been excited to be explored further in the next Bleach arc.
