Description
Since its original release in 2001, the 991 has been synonymous with superlative quality. As the first 99X model of the 21st century, the original 991 set the standard for modern running design. The MADE in UK 991v2 represents a new pinnacle, with an evolved take on this genuine icon. A streamlined take on a classic pigskin suede, mesh, and synthetic upper offers a sleeker overall profile, while retaining a familiar look. The most notable technological change is the addition of full-length FuelCell cushioning. This update mirrors the upper’s evolved yet familiar approach by pairing the updated construction with classic ABZORB SBS pods and ENCAP features.
Product Details
The updated design elements are not novelty for its own sake. Each tweak is carefully considered and intended to elevate both the visual and on-foot experience. The subtle change in shape to the upper’s paneling is intended to better showcase the premium pigskin suede, while the teal ABZORB SBS utilized is sourced from an archival 998 colorway. Just try to actually wear the 990v6 or 991v2 and compare to those 2002r🤦🏻‍♂️ huge difference . Made in uk and USA can feel the shoes are hugging the feet. That’s the biggest difference I found imo

It's also crazy how people believe that shoes made in England are of any better quality than shoes made anywhere else in the world. A society that believes victimhood is the most valuable currency, is a society that makes crap products for expensive prices. I guarantee you that if you could purchase a $250 Chinese shoe, you better. Damn well believe that it will be worth every penny. Well, at least a shoe that is considered a flagship product, and especially one that is specifically meant to showcase the best quality which Chinese manufacturing has to offer.

I'm not sure if you're aware of the channel known as rose anvil, but I think it's right up your alley if you like quality boots as much as you like sneakers. I think this GR V2 is almost aesthetically flawless. The only thing I don’t like is the font style of the V2 in the back. They might eventually go on sale at some boutiques if the production goes up

I don’t like how the spots that you use to have clear plastic abzorb are now matte. Cheapens the look a bit but prob more environmentally sustainable to use less plastic.

The 991v1 actually got me into New Balance. When I heard about the v2 with slight aesthetic adjustments but a tech update, I was stoked! Time to wait for these to become a bit more affordable. NB’s Flimby, U.K. factory needs to work on those glue stains, too.

@@anjalirawat5378 They’re comfortable and supportive. Having mesh instead of rip stop material would lend to more breathability. They aren’t like an Ultraboost or something squishy and soft out of the box. Give them time to break in. I recommend them!

@@anjalirawat5378 the 991 runs TTS. I worn mine a bit looser when first breaking them in. Half a size up probably isn’t too bad since the toe box isn’t especially tall or wide compared to models like the 993.

Hello, is the soles of New Balance FRESH FOAM X HIERRO V7 GTX is really hard? Just got mine last week and yes it is Vibram Megagrip. Can you explain it? Also, the Fresh Foam X has a very different feel than Fresh Foam and other midsoles in the market. At first, I thought it was a counterfeit. But as I researched, and went to a legitimate physical store, I confirmed that the Fresh Foam X really has a different feel upon touch.

Hows the sizing? 991 are the only 99x i dont have. Also, do you TTS your v6 or go down .5? I have both and going down fir better length wise, but the arch of my foot was tight in there so i have to wear my TTS just a bit long. Anyways, cheers and great vid.

I want to say True to size. Don't take me as the last word on this since I listened to reviewers say that you should size down for almost all MIUSA. My 993's fit true to size (I'm an 11.5). I tried on a pair of 991v1s that were my true to size and fit well.

These will be better. The 990v5 has really fallen out of favor with most NB fans. You’ll see the 990v3, 990v4, 990v6, and 991v1, and maybe 991v2/992/993 listed as better than the 990v5. Aesthetics are a different story though. I prefer the look of the 991v1 and 991v2 compared to the 990v3, v4, v5, and v6. I prefer the 990v2 and 998 aesthetic. Gotta love those ‘90s runners.

I think the plastic/rubber strip behind the mesh that's behind the N is funny looking. Probably why the v3s and v4s are some of my favorite shoes. Haven't worn my 993's yet (early Christmas present to self) so we'll see if that takes the crown.

Maybe because I have been a fan of the 991s for so long now, the V2 just seems.....off. Maybe it's the paneling, or the details on the midsoles, or the tongues....or a combination of all the changes; I know I am looking at a pair of 991, but conversely there's something not right about them that just don't sit well with me aesthetically. Hopefully they will continue to release the V1s.

@@anjalirawat5378 They are nowhere near as comfortable as the other MiUSA models, or the 2002s and 1906s. The cushioning in the 991 are quiet firm, so you get a lot of support and ground feel. Also they have a snug toes area until you wear them in. For me I prefer firmer cushioning then most, so I actually enjoy wearing 991 all day.

This shoes look cheaply assembled. Glue is everywhere. Recently I started wearing expensive pair of NB1500 made in England which I bought in 2013 and had in my collection. They look fantastic with all the "premium" leather and suede but the midsole has become just a piece of hard plastic instead of foam. Seriously. It is extremely uncomfortable to walk in them and I think it might brake in the middle of forefoot any second.

Even the original 991’s tech is from 2001. These feature 2020s tech with Fuel Cell foam on top of other tried and true NB tech.

Flag code violations, like wearing the American flag on your athletic shoes, or even on your under armor t-shirts for that matter, our disrespectful to the flag, and a slap in the face to anyone who recognizes what freedom is, and therefore know that freedom isn't a flag. I recognize that America is synonymous with freedom, but I also recognize that being synonymous with freedom is what makes us confuse our government with fighting for freedom, rather than recognizing that our government is the greatest enemy of our freedom. You can love freedom or you can love the government, but you sure as hell cannot love both. You cannot defend freedom that you do not value, and you cannot value freedom until you understand what freedom is, and only when you understand what it is, do you recognize that freedom is the solution, and that without freedom, our lives are of no value. This is precisely the reason why our founding fathers were so willing to sacrifice not only their millions of dollars in wealth, but they're very lives for freedom. Because as I said, a life without freedom is of no value.
