The moment they introduced time travel the stakes have never been lower

The two things I hate the most about the MK story is Sindel's lore-breaking changes and Dvorah's killstreak. I get that NRS wanted both to look powerful, but when you betray what fans know and love in the process (Sindel was a good person, and there's no way Dvorah could take on the far more experienced Scorpion), then it becomes a problem.

I've always hated the choreography of the Sindel killing the MK9 kombatants scene. These guys all pretty much have SUPERNATURAL ABILITIES and they were running up to Sindel doing basic 1-2 punches and she was killing some of them off simple strikes.

Sindel killing the Earthrealm heroes is probably the biggest WTF moment in MK history and she was hated for years after until MK11 ruined her character arc.

I'll always hate bad guy Sindel, just because I grew up with Sindel being this complex character who lost her husband, her kingdom & nearly her daughter. Ends up basically trading herself to be Shao Kahn's wife so Kitana doesnt get killed. Having to be a bystander, right at his side, to this man who is trying to conquer realms to keep her daughter safe.

Literally every single problem with NRS story modes could be solved if they just let you play as the villains as well as the heroes. As it stands the only times the villains are effective in *any* of their story modes is in cutscenes, and almost never against the character you're playing in the moment.

D'Vorah killing Scorpion still haunts me to this day...

The Sindel one is the most painful to watch as it's clearly the scene that made them retcon her into being Evil from the beginning! They really could have spaced out the deaths so that some of the villains could have actually had some wins, and so Sindel's power wouldn't have been so OTT. :O

Sindel’s retcon in MK11 is my most hated thing about the franchise!

During the Kung Lao scene my reaction was “Thanks for killing my main for no reason, now I have to fight the hardest character with someone else.” But a couple chapters later I was introduced to Kabal who became my other main because of how much I liked his character and gameplay… only for him to be killed off during the Sindel part.

Personally, for me the worse moments were the kombat kids defeating very strong OG MKX characters. Especially when Cassie defeated Corrupted Shinnok with no problem by herself just because of her Cage powers even tho she is still not as a skilled fighter as the ogs

The two things that I hate most about the newer games actually coincide with each other: 1. The Sindel retcon. 2. The fact that Jerrod's killer was retconned twice. First Shao Khan did it. Then D'Vorrah did it. Now Sindel did it. Who's next? Kitana?

I never like Sindel being evil, the writers made her evil because of her outfit.

Let's see here, umm .Hated the fighting or the fighting animations in the cutsceness .Hated how Kung Lao got taken out .Hated how Shang Tsung got taken out .Hated how Sindel took out everyone with little effort .And I hated how Liu Kang went from following Raiden to outright hating him and wanting him dead...and then got taken out

I think from mk9 onwards Sindel was listed as very powerful. Even Kronika needed to involve Cetrion in it to stop Sindel cuz if she and Shang plus the others got together they could take em down. Revenant Sindel though is far weaker as are the other revenants.

As a short reminder about Sindel in MK 9 (this may have been forgotten about). Before she is sent off, Shao Khan kills Shang and then feeds her his, as well as every soul Shang has. So part of the reason Sindel was dummy op, was that she got a buff of all of Shangs and his Souls power, which made her that strong and why Nightwolf had to Harakiri himself to beat Sindel. She was also murdered by Quan Chi I think in the original timeline, so while competent she wasn't the "Elder God beating" character she was retconned into being for MK 11.

Shao Kahn should have done his Shoulder Charge on Kung Lao. You know the one... Would have been too fast to really react to even if a spectator saw it coming.

Most hated MK moments by me: - Dark Raiden being Thanos'd out of existence early in MK11 after all the build up. Plus wouldn't it have been more interesting to see the past characters having to interact with this new, callous Raiden instead of essentially the same Raiden we've had since MK9? - Revenant Liu Kang and Kitana being henchmen again after MKX's implication that they'd be the main antagonists for the next game. - The Jade x Kotal romance retcon. I wouldn't have minded if they started a romance DURING the story or if it was acknowledged to be a secret romance even (though I'm personally not a fan of the pairing in general), but how it's presented as though it's common knowledge and has always been a thing attached to both characters just feels so very off. - Rebooting the timeline AGAIN at the end of MK11. After going though all that trouble to introduce new characters in MKX like the Kombat Kidz and a new status quo with the Revenants...you're just gonna start over from the beginning AGAIN anyway? Was ANYONE actually asking for another reboot so soon? Why was this needed? - Honestly the premise of MK11 to begin with is very flawed. If you're really going to do that kind of plot, why not have it be a crossover between the Classic MK1-Armageddon era versions of the characters and the Reboot timeline like most people seemed to assume it would be from the trailers? It would be a good opportunity to show the differences between the old timeline and new timeline characters and lore. Instead we got what we're told is the past versions of the reboot timeline characters, but with haphazard retcons that either don't amount to anything or just flat out ruin the writing that was there. Speaking of which... - The Sindel retcon. Just all of it, it's bad. Hmm, these are all from MK11's story. Interesting.

Smoke was my main in MK9 and when he died I was really mad cause I feel like he (and the rest of them) should have been able to put up more of a fight. I’m still kind of salty about it. (Plus they never made him playable again despite the fact that a lot of people actually seem to want him to come back.)

Original Sindel was always my favorite character. I’m ok with her slaughtering everyone but let her regain her memories as a hero and rectify the deaths by offering her own life. That would have rocked.

That Sindel scene is probably one of the most controversial scenes in video game history..I was 12 when I first watched it and even then I was STUNNED by what happened...Looking back at it all these years later it still hits in a strange way..I really wish we saw Bi-Han's true power..ALthough Lao's death I have not too much to say on....I'm hoping that the next timeline offers better because I love Mortal kombat..However they've really really really missed many wonderful opportunities in MK9/X/11..Set up or brought back interesting conflicts and ideas but the execution was flawed,sometimes nonsensical,often times retconned for no good reason! MK has amazing unique characters and an extremely intriguing world and plot..If it was all meshed well the story could be so impactful and rank up higher in video game history story and lore-wise..I wouldn't mind seeing more of these videos,please do MKX and 11 too!

In retrospect, the Sindel slaughter scene could’ve been explained better by just adding a little more context. The entire group just fought cyber ninjas, even Smoke got his ass kicked pretty hard by Sector, and they looked okay so if they were shown tired after the ambush then it makes sense for Sindel to wipe them off.I honestly thought that only Smoke, Jax, and Jade died because everyone else was just tossed or kicked away. I guess Nightwolf fought the least during the ambush so it kinda makes sense he can stand back up after getting knocked down. This is still a good video though

Deception put the neatly tied bow around the package when it came to conveying the world building lore of MK, and introducing new content to it and solidifying it as now once-kanon. Hell, Konquest Mode kept previously established details in the lore more konsistent with Easter Eggs and cameos scattered about that line up with kharacter endings and lore bits, as Konquest took place over the Midway timeline up to Deception's intro.

Here's one of the most hateful moments in Mortal Kombat: Onaga and Taven are not being the survivors in Armageddon and as we all know as Onaga grabbed Shao Kahn, flying away from the Pyramid and possibly killed him because he's a lot stronger than he is, and the scenario would've been so sound if Taven got the opportunity to kill his brother and then fight out Blaze and then have Onaga fly back just to see how much stronger he has gotten and maybe get the jump on the Dragon King or something considering that Mortal Kombat revolves around dragons in many different ways.

Honestly, the writing in Mortal Kombat games is not great. I think the story was a little more cohesive when Tobias worked on it.

Strange that in all of the hundreds of fights to the death in MK Jax was the only one to receive a permanent injury. Every single other fight ended with both fighters alive and just fine or one dead and the other just fine.

I'm new here so I've kinda been binging your channel since it's all pretty cool, but I notices you do a LOT of MKX and even more MK11 content, but not quite so much MK9 (which is my personal favorite). Then you said you played MK9 as a "kid" and it all clicked. I had totally forgotten MK9 is "old" now so people who played it as kids are older and making content about it now as young adults. Because I was a junior college when that came out and I STILL play it today. Lol. Its funny that MK steered the story mode in fighters in the right direction but screwed up themselves. If we are just talking about just MK9 worst parts you covered one which is sindel one shotting everyone. I think another thing I hated was Shao Kahns brain dead moments such as telling Kitana the whole mileena thing. You just cant take him serious.

Having reciently played Mega Man X again, I can say that the one thing they really should do in fighting games like this, is if your character is meant to lose the battle, then make the battle unwinnable and allow the story to continue when you lose. Considering plenty of fighting games read your inputs to increase difficulty, it wouldn't even be that hard to code.

Hopefully in mk12 we get 2 stories where we play as the bad guys and good guys but you only get to pick 1

I think one of the main problems of NR is the fact that they don't know how to handle power in their games from a story point of view. Sindel is a great example of this in 9 as well as Kronika in 11, especially at the end of Aftermath.

Okay, a few problems 1. Bi-Han is not that strong. Fujin saying that he ran away can actually be seen in the game, and he didn't defeat Shinnok either; just froze him and ran to a portal (canonically) 2. Considering the heroes had just finished fighting a plethora of lin kuei, including sektor (who wopped smoke somehow) and cyrax, it isn't hard to believe that Sindel would beat all of them (and she pretty much beat Nightwolf until he used a suicide move) 3. Liu Kang started to have doubts of Raiden ever since he was told he couldn't defeat Shao Khan after his chapter. A great thing about this game is the facial features and voice actors being supurb and it shows with Liu Kang's developement.

I have a theory about the whole Sindel situation in MK 11. I think Kronika had created a timeline in the past where Sindel was evil to use her in the Titan’s plans should she ever need her. Kronika pulled this alternate timeline Sindel and switched her with the real one during the fighting while she was in the coffin. Kronika then told Shao Kahn that this new Sindel is evil and will be completely devoted to him. The reason I believe this is the case is in both timelines where Sindel was resurrected in Earthrealm, Shao Kahn had Shang Tsung (and later Quan Chi as well) to place a mind control spell on Sindel to make her completely loyal to him which makes no sense for him to do this if she was already evil.

4:13 the scene could be fixed if it showed that Kung Lao was exhausted before he started showboating. After the showboat, Shao Khan says something along the lines of "Did you really think that that would end me!?" That makes the audience realize that Shao Khan was either holding back or that he was exhausted very little. Then he kills Kung Lao slowly (about 15 seconds) as Kung Lao tries to assist. As Raiden tries (as opposed to not trying) to interfere, Shang Tsung stops him (either through magic or by saying that that is illegal in the Outworld tournament). Lao dies and that enrages Liu Kang because he couldn't do anything. Then Liu challenges Khan to Mortal Kombat. Bam! Scene is (mostly) fixed

My most hated moment is Takeda and Jacqui surviving against Liu Kang and Kung Lao in MKX I know they are revenants and have plot armor but GOTDAMMIT that's the Mortal Kombat Champion and the man who defeated the Deadly Alliance...there is no wayyy in the hell (besides the amulet and hourglass) they should've even been able to keep up with them. Let alone stall them long enough for cassie to save the world

The helicopter pilot was never shot down by Shang Tsung, Bi han was never killed by scorpion, that one generic goon survived being tossed into the dead pool, Shao Khan only crippled that one monk that fought kitana, and Motaro survived Raiden’s assault, and Shang Tsung’s soul was never captured and redistributed to Sindel.

About Liu kang loosing faith in Raiden, there is a scene in middle of story where Kitana is captured and Kung lao and Liu kang insist on saving her but Raiden disagrees. It is there were Liu kang starts to question if Raiden thinks straight or not, although his reaction is based on emotion and logically they should go back to tournament, i think that sets up the conflict between Liu and Raiden.

The thing with Sindel is she had literally just been empowered by Shang Tsung’s souls and life force. This scene perfectly showed that. However, her instantly dying right after is very questionable. But regardless, Netherrealm really want Sindel to be hated 😂 not only did they do this in MK9 but her character reboot for MK11 sheesh give her a break
