As the other lady said In N Out is the most iconic. We moved out of state and that is the only one I hear about. Edit; Just asked my Mom and she has never heard of it and she had spent her whole life up to 55 yrs. Old, born and raised Californian. So if she has never heard of it, it is NOT iconic. She also says it's In N Out.

Also California is really too big and populated to pin down to one restaurant in LA. The biggest population center is the bay area which is like 375 miles from LA. In n out is at least spread across the state and much more ubiquitous.

someone from oahu I also feel the same but to be frank there's quite a few iconic restuarants for example >waiohole poi factory > zippys (iconic because the plantation days) > romys or kahuku shrimp truck > and then probably some really good shave ice :V > oh and tanaka saimin or some type of saimin resturant >and so many more but my point is that theres alot of iconic resturants withing each state lowkey though wish they did something else

As I'm a Thai and not many foreign (especially Asian) restaurants made the list, I'm super surprised and proud to see Lotus of Siam 5:58 being included among other legendary places. Would love to eat there one day to see if their food tastes like what I have here in Thailand.

In truth, Missouri should have been represented on this list by Lambert's Cafe. Great menu full of comfort/American cuisine, generous portions and table-side served sides like fried okra and tomatoes & macaroni, and they are the "Home of the Throw'd Roll"; a tradition that dates back to Lambert's early years, when the rolls were so popular, they couldn't serve them out of the kitchen fast enough. So, the servers started throwing them to the patrons at their tables, even ones all the way across the dining room!

But the video title isn't "best". It's "iconic". Iconic isn't necessarily the best -- it's what most people associate with the state. The restaurants listed might be really good & worth a trip (gods know I've bookmarked this vid for if we ever make it to these places), but "iconic"? Not when so many commenters are going "who?"

For Georgia it should be the Varsity, It is my favorite restaurant, I live in Massachusetts and I would go to Georgia just to eat there. I never get shirts from restaurants but because I enjoyed it so much I got one. I ordered 3 orders of fries for myself. I could eat there everyday if I wouldn’t get fat.

Charcoal Pit! I ate there many times when I was a kid. Would always order the grilled cheese with one milkshake to share amongst my family. Looking forward to going back there in the future.

I think it’s cool that you covered a US territory like Puerto Rico. It would be really interesting to cover the other US territories in the videos as well. For instance, a lot of people are not familiar with Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the US Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.

I'm from Maryland and I've never heard of Faidley's. The more iconic Maryland restaurant I would've gone with would be the Greene Turtle, or if it has to be a one-off type of restaurant then maybe G&M

I agree with the choice for Louisiana, 100%, but it's not your just average chicory coffee, it's called café au lait. Which is half coffee and half milk. Absolutely beautiful ❤️.

As a Washingtonian, I say Pike’s Place in general is iconic. But they really overlook the Eastern side of the state like it doesn’t exist (where I live). We have some iconic eats on the East, too!!! Pizza Pipeline from Spokane is one of them!

One of the few advantages to living in Alabama is always being first on the list 😂 Excellent choice in Dreamlands. For 7 glorious years I lived a block away from Dreamlands and it was honestly the happiest time of my life lol

Life long Illinoisan here as well. I can assure you, Gene and Jude's is the greatest hot dog in the world. It's just outside the city limits of Chicago. If you live outside of Chicagoland, I can see why you've never heard of it.

I went to this restaurant called simply southern in Montgomery Alabama i loved it it was sooo gooood it was the best soul food i ever had the line was so long it wrapped through the restaurant and they had a live gospel band on Sunday

As a Pennsylvanian, I’m alway disappointed when I watch these kinds videos. It’s always a Philly cheesesteak. PA has some great food that’s not in Philadelphia.

Same with Maine. It's not all lobster or seafood. We have awesome food. And our iconic places are some old old places that generations had gone to. And even tho the menus changed they still have a few of the original dishes and recipes. Like their loaded Maine breakfast. Our grandparents made this for us growing up and so did everyone else but the best place to go for it is Becky's diner if your grandparents don't wanna cook or u don't know how to lol. It's filling. Stick to your ribs kind of food to get u thru a winter day. Hopefully this food insider will get some new facts

@@em_birch you make baseless assumptions. This video shows mostly those types of dishes. Simple observation. I know what American cousine consists of, believe me. I like cooking international dishes and have gone through some documentaries, recipes, history of different states etc. It's mostly a joke at how everything "American" always rings of those types of food. Overly fatty, sugary etc. It's also my mom's observation from her time there but that's beside the point. It's almost a running joke between us here that when you see something just overly... Greasy, sweet etc it's the "american" version. No offense in that. Just like saying when someone is tall they're Dutch or a very elegant thing is French.

I’m in Austin right now. Yes, RIGHT! Franklin‘s barbecue is iconic. Salt Licks barbecue is dry, unless if you go right when it opens. Franklin‘s barbecue is more famous, and for good reason. Brisket is 🤴 King in Texas 🤠

the Secret to Cincinatti Chili is cocoa powder and cinnamon, my best friend was an ohio native and she would make it regularly. it's an Ohio thing, on spaghetti with hot dogs, onions and cheese, LOTS of cheese.

Go to Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City on Brooklyn Avenue for the BBQ and the sauce. (You can order the sauce online.) Both are outstanding. But also, go for the experience. Founders Charley and Arthur Bryant always referred to it as a "grease house." At Noon, there will usually be a line on the sidewalk. In the line and inside you will see bankers, construction workers, lawyers, police and firemen, doctors, nurses, hourly laborers, politician and any other type of occupation. You go through the line order and get your food, then find an empty table and or empty chair. Lots of napkins are a must.

There is definitely debate about whether a bakery qualifies as a restaurant and no disrespect meant to the bakeries on the list, but by including them you do injustice to the actual restaurants on the list. Cafe Du Monde is most definitely iconic and THE PLACE for beignets, but what about all the fantastic places to get actual food like gumbo or a po’boy?

Leon's in Milwaukee is alright! I have had it 2 times, both times it was a buger, with delicious creamy ice cream/custard! Not sure that it deserves best of Wisconsin ... but the ice cream/custard is forsure a Wisconsin tradition!

I lived my first 9 years in Alaska and then grew up in Iowa. I have never heard of Club Paris or the Iowa one whose name I don't even remember now. For Alaska I would probably have said the Pagoda in North Pole it was featured on the Food Network. And for Iowa probably Zombie Burger. This video is a total tourist trap!

Yup. Fong’s has two restaurants I think-one in Cedar Rapids now, but I’ve only lived here for about five years. Zombie Burger is spectacular but sadly seems to be dying out. Surprised they hadn’t said Maid Rite.

Grew up in NW Ohio. Dad brought home Skyline at least a couple times a year and everyone knows it. I'd also put Tony Packo's as pretty iconic for Ohio. Never heard of the place they mentioned.
