Incredibly applicable and relevant illustration and instruction! This video eliminates so many bad mistakes made during the most critical moment in the golf swing - the downswing. You aced it!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for creating and sharing this great training video. I can't wait to try it. I know it will work because it makes such logical sense 🙂🏆⛳

Thank you! Matches exactly where my swing notes have evolved to --> feeling of the upper body doing nothing on downswing! It just gets whipped around by the lower body rotation. I've also built in the pause at the top into my backswing.

Yeah been working on separation of hip and shoulders in the down swing. It’s transforming my swing, very happy. As an extra bonus I’m getting more distance without out trying to hit the ball harder. Definitely recommend working on this, it takes a while to get it but once you feel the swing hit the slot pure magic.

I have been working on this and see improvement in my ball striking. I’m playing much better and dropped several strokes per round ….. but ever since I have begun to have pain in my trail forearm.

Just went out and practiced this and wow what a difference it makes. First 2or 3 not so great and then got the hang of turning the shoulders first and club follow started hitting 6 iron with ease. Thanks for this video. Now I must take this move to the course and see how many strokes it takes off. Thanks for this lesson just what I needed to put the other together with my swing. I’ll still go out and practice this before I go play ….! God bless already subbed you.

Great drill, I saw a similar thing on another channel about leaving your left arm passive, I tried your way and it seems this works better for me, I can't hold my left arm up with my right palm, but the resistance band and the feeling like the arms are staying up or even going back, just before the rotation, are working for me, great stuff, Subscribed. Tip, if you don't have a resistance band, use a bungee cord from your bike rack, I put a club handle through mine to simulate the grip whilst using the bungee, I also put the bungee cord high so it holds my arms up, like the stacking method, it made my weight shift better that way, I know, my body is odd, but if it helps me, it may just help someone else.

I have a problem of spinning out and leaving the club face wide open - how do you prevent this and still accomplish this move? Thanks and I’m glad I found your channel.

I'm working on this together with the feeling of "falling" slightly on the way down hopefully to cure my early extension

The hands will naturally drop (but not vertically down) when doing this 👍🏼

Noticed whenever I tried this before, I have to move my eyes away from the ball before contact. You do it here as well. Is this normal? Feel like I would miss the ball 😂

Would you comment on Cameron Young and his swing, please? He has a big pause at the top and yet he is one of the longest hitters.

In your rehearsals, your arms and hands move out towards the ball but in your real swing, they move down vertically. Whenever I try this, my results are like your rehearsals and I come severely over the top. The shaft shallows but my hands and arms are so far out it's impossible to get the path inside

Make sure you have enough depth and your lower body and mid torso are starting the downswing first. It takes time to get the move down

came here to say the exact same thing. your arms move straight down during an actual swing. not even close to what is demonstrated during the drill.

Dunno, gotta try that. Everything I was taught about the downswing though is arms MUST lower first. Otherwise you got what Jim McLean classifies as a death move and you cannot recover. Like I said, we’ll see.

Sounds like you’ve been taught some very 90’s aesthetical golf instruction. The hands certainly shouldn’t lower first. They will lower but go down and out, which will happen naturally via good sequencing.

I’ve experimented with this feel recently. Feels very counter intuitive if like me your used to powering the swing with the arms and stalling the rotation. It looked fantastic on camera, tour like visually but I hit a number of shanks with this swing. JC do you know why that might be the case?

Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia disagree with you.
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf 2 жыл бұрын
Justin rose doesn’t drop the hands in his actual swing, he implements that exaggerated feel in his pre shot routine to combat his hand path travelling overly out in transition (I have a video on this). Sergio matches up the move of the hands vertically dropping with staying overly flexed in the downswing with very little extension. More of the question is do you reckon an amateur golfer could make that move work without hitting hundreds of balls each day. Outliers due to exceptional talent and ability aren’t a reason to justify doing a timing based move for all

@@jchowngolf thanks for your reply, Jonathan. I guess my main issue would be that it is literally illogical. If one “keeps their hands up” literally then their hands will pass by the front of their face. The reality is that the upper arms raise the hands on the back swing. They must drop roughly the same amount on the downswing. We are not hitting a baseball at waist high. Athletic Motion Golf have some good videos debunking the theory. Cheers.
