The most interesting thing about the resolution to Annabelle's story is that you learn that she isn't possessed or mind-controlled: she's just a horrible person. She murdered her family, her citizens, anyone in the way of her perceived nobility, and uses the memory of Clive and especially Joshua as both justification and a source of pity, even after being the direct cause of their suffering and supposed death. Then the consequences of her actions finally catch up to her and she has nowhere to run, no plots to fall back on, no one to blame except herself. When she is directly confronted by Joshua, the one person she can't lie or justify to and who seems ready to give her a chance, she has a mental breakdown and avoids taking responsibility for her actions in the most selfish way possible.

The entire Dion/Twinside subplot all the way to the Bahamut fight, and its aftermath, is peak Final Fantasy. Phenomenal

The most hype thing about the Bahamut fight was discovering that Bahamut is, in fact, nearly as powerful as Donald Duck.

Anabella: "How is it that YOU survived and Joshua is dead!?" Clive: "The fuck are you talking about? Do you not see or hear the giant Phoenix outside the window fighting Bahamut RIGHT NOW!?!?" Anabella: *dial-up noises*

The cutscene with Dion killing his father is easily the best in the game in my opinion. The voice acting is incredible.

This fight is just unbelievable on so many levels. Even a big budget movie would struggle to be this epic. The fact that they did this in a video game at this level of quality and detail is insane

I love how Clive's voice kinda reverts back to his younger days when it comes to Joshua's safety. Even though he knows his little bro is a big boy now, he's still his little bro. And ofc he can't forget the trauma of having lost him once before. Such great voice acting, really nailing Clive's mentality as a big brother. And their reunion after the fight hit so hard. Wow.

The Zettaflare moment is the coolest shit Ive seen in the game so far

That fucking irony with Anabella was absolute gold. She thought Joshua was dead? Here’s the Phoenix right in front of her. She thought Clive never awakened? Here, for the first time, Clive transforms into Ifrit without any effort whatsoever. Damn. She must’ve been 👁️👄👁️

When I was playing this part I was thinking to myself "I hope the game isn't trying to make us feel sorry for this woman. I'm literally ROOTING for her demise." The only disappointing thing about her dying is that WE didn't get to do it 💯

This has to be the single best boss fight I've personally ever experienced in 30 years of playing videogames. The variety of the phases, the cutscenes, the music going higher and higher... This game is amazing.

I have never been left with my mouth open like an idiot during a boss fight, I couldn't help but chuckle when it ended. Videogamey AF, I love it. This will go as one of the best moments in the franchise for sure.

The whole 'Fire in the Sky' sequence gave me huge FF9 vibes. Being on rooftops, getting the scope of the city, reminded me so much of the Bahamut vs Alexander cutscene. Love this game

The Sequence with Bahamut was a love letter to FF14, not necessarily FF7. Look up the Binding Coils and Ultimate Bahamut fights. Everything from being shielded by the Phoenix, the phoenix using Rebirth on you, the Phoenix staggering Bahamut, and then the final sequence with the beam to Bahamut being pierced was shot for shot what happened in the "Flames of Truth" trailer.

This entire section as well as the lead up to it was spectacular. They definitely did not cut back on the budget they used in this fight. The nod to Flames of Truth at the end was such an amazing tribute for those who did the Coils of Bahamut questline in FFXIV.

They did Bahamut justice as the poster of Final Fantasy franchise! Any newcomer to the series will know who the most iconic character across Final Fantasy is with this fight! Dion is also a great character and worthy of being the dominant of Bahamut! This was a spectacle to say the least and all that did not even kill, but only subdued Bahamut! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The flame shield of clive protecting Joshua and jill is so well damn done. I had even more goosebumps after the beatiful VA work

Woolie and Pat have said that ff16 is a gateway drug to getting into ff14 and the bahamut fight encapsulates that completely. The last push against the Zetaflare is actually a reference to a cinematic from ff14s first raid and the ARR trailer. Though that could have very well have taken inspiration from Advent Children

The FF1 theme they used there (2:01:45), brought tears to my eyes. I played that game 33 years ago.

Baldur’s gate has some really good Voice-Actor-Ass Voice Acting all round but I’m deeply impressed with all the FF16 performances. As acting and as characters, they’re so consistent and cohesive with the world, just beautiful work. FF7R’s goofball side quest dialogue feels like a distant memory here

For myself, fighting against Bahamut was the second boss where I literally sat there and teared up over how spectacular it was, especially when Clive and Joshua joined together. The visuals, the music, the variety of phases was quite the experience to behold. That’s some DBZ shit and I loved every minute of it!

Bahamut is straight up DBZ with brother Kamehameha, Fusion, fighting Beerus in space and finishing Bahamut with a Dragon Fist just like how Louisoix defeated Bahamut in ARR It is also the classic Japanese rivalry colours of red and white, with Ifrit + Phoenix looking like the melee based Justice Gundam and his backpack, while Bahamut looks like Freedom Gundam with his laser and DRAGOON(bits) spam along with the same particle and light effects of Strike Freedom's Wings of Light.

At 2:34:15 where he said its a reference to Advent Children. This part here as actually a reference to Final Fantasy 14 where an old man (forgot the name) pierced Bahamut after using Terraflare

You know what's really sad about Anabella? She called Dion's biological mom a whore who would sell her son for gil, but instead of being the loving mother he never really had, she chose to be even more ruthless and conniving. Dion deserved so much better because all his life, he's been at the mercy of people who take advantage of his kindness.

I can't stop to watch that fight. The music, all the phases, the drama with the mother, that's the best part of the game. I also agree that the removing of the blur is a game changer. It looks a lot better without the blur.

Dion is so amazing and well written, but my heart aches for him because he really had a tragic life. But he had Terence that loved and supported him through it all: I cannot imagine if he hadn’t had him😢

Never would've expected a whole SPACE BATTLE between Ifrit Risen and Super Bahamut (idk if that's the official name or not, just felt right with the gold). And the MUSIC. Holy fuck.

This and Titan Lost are feats of gaming. Some of the most cool boss fights in history.

Ifrit Risen VS Bahamut probably my favorite boss and my favorite track in the game. I want to hear those violins at the game. 100/10 Peak gameplay there.

I think what Ultama did was do an experiment on the bahamut guy to test out what the "Consciousness" is. This whole session wasamazing. Love to seeing kaiju battles like this, cant wait for the next vid

Dion really is an all around tragic character, even at the end they give us a slight speck of hope that maybe dion would come back with the tomes side quest and be able to truly grieve, and yet he dies instead, not to mention him accidentally killing his father which he loves very much as is obvious with how he acts

I'm really not sure what Max wants from the sidequest dialogue. The scene with Otto at the end of the star ruby quest is one of the best in the game. Even the most mundane quests almost always have SOME sort of twist or interesting detail. The bandit quest at the beginning of this part, for instance. They're way more tightly crafted than most MMO chores. Besides, FFVIIR had you chasing cats.

Everything about this part of the game was glorious. The Bahamut fight was the best moment in the game and finally getting to watch Anabella unravel was the cherry on top. All the FF14 references were a bonus.

I love how Bahamut coked up on mothercrystals is just barely around the power of Donald Duck.

This is both a reference to advent children and a reference to the secret ending of the opening for final fantasy xiv that was left unexplained unless you do the mortal coil raids. In the opening, your character rep gets teleported out right before bahamut was going to burn that world so you dont know what happens unless you see whats left of bahumat in those raids. You find out the old man who saved your ass, louisoux, instead of dying goes super saiyan as a final sacrifice, powers through bahumats tetraflare to dragon punch him through the gut. And its the same glowing animation where he hit him as with this ifrit fight

the whole bahamut fight was fucking spectacular and the music took it to a-whole-nother level. the soundtrack gave me emotions, and I clapped! I clapped when my cold dead heart felt the flicker of flame and I clapped again when I fired off a Level 4 Megaflare for the first time! I, uh, I won’t tell you what happened the first time I casted Gigaflare though.
