If there are any new players that have played a bit and don’t know what to play, I recommend playing as Ajam as it doesn’t have a hard start and is very fun IMO. You can easily beat Timurids early on and have a lot of freedom on you hands. You can from Timurids, Persia, Mughals and even Rûm(that is if you culture shift of course which isn’t that hard). This nation can teach you about the importance of overextension, taking on a bigger target, AE, trade and absolutism.

Maybe Munich--->Bavaria, which is very easy to form in like 10 years, because you can integrate your PUs, then you have a very strong mission tree and you became also an elector iirc. Maybe lubeck/hamburg could be interesting thanks to the republic government, lubeck I guess it's easier because you are not surrounded by free cities. Saxony is not bad, or thuringia or another nation in Central Germany so you can form the nation of franconia(in the mission tree you can pu France). Honorable mention to dithmarschen, but maybe it's not super easy, it still a OPM. I did a successful run with it and I definitely not a super pro player, more a medium player, so you can give a shot :)

A dutch playthrough can be really fun, Italy of the north (or italy the low countries of the south ;).) taking on the full might of the habsburgs, french, spanish and british to create a rade monopoly in the east, really daring but satisfying

They are really fun to play as. Idea wise they dominate everyone in the area. You'll quickly own that trade node, become leader in trading coffee and incense, have all the gold you want. Be sure to ally Bahmanis asap to keep Mamluks from ruining your campaign early.

Hi I'm a new player. I got the game and all DLC back in May and put in over 500 hours. What nation's (formable and non formable) have the easiest focus trees to complete without any generic branches? I've only been able to do Japan. Portugal seems easy if I can conquer every province in Iberia or get lucky and PU Castile and have the Iberian Wedding. I'd do a Castile one if I could avoid forming Spain and get the missions that Spain adds to the Castile tree but I want to use a mod that creates Iberia without forming Spain first and that doesn't exist. I did play as Scotland once and conquered the British Isles. I thought forming Britain would add the Britain only missions to the Scottish only missions but it gave me the English tree. I have also used two OP mods, a console command Irish playthrough, and a Brandenburg one right when Emperor came out to get experience.

Navarra and vijay are probably the most interesting. Vjay can be played in almost any way, and Navarra gets PU on the spanish and french, plus you can form many nations for more PU or expand wherever you want after 1560’s. As vijay you can do pretty much whatever as they are the Ottoman of India. Wanna colonize? Form Caliphate? Blob and take asia? Play tall? Become Christian? Own Siberia before Russia? Form mughals or india? Then vijay is for you.

As rassids, I always check to see if the pretender rebels have a better ruler. Just let them siege your other province (not your capital) and they will instantly enforce demands.

Remember to delete your capital fort first. Since it's the first thing you check when you start a game.. you can "start scum" for a better ruler. It's a shame AI Rassids can't comprehend this and stay in rebel hell for decades till some sunni attacks them.

@@ominousflames14 I've tried many a failed rassids game and sometimes I delete the fort, sometimes not. If you don't get allies the ai will usually declare on you. Having a lvl 3 mountain for at that point can be helpful when you're trying to seige down yemen + allies

I find in most games Mahra will be friendly towards you at the start, so you need to quickly ally him before he becomes neutral. Having 1 ally will usually keep AI off you for a time being before you can ally someone like Bahmanis, which you need over 100 relations to make him turn friendly.

Imo Oman is the most interesting. Hormuz is an underrated trade node which can steer trade from all of south asia and the horn of africa. Oman also has the uniquely powerful +33% trade steering modifier. The highest of any nation in the game by a significant margin. On top of some of the best naval ideas and a merchant Oman is also an Ibadi feudal theocracy with -10 AE and 10% goods produced. With religious ideas and their varied expansion options they basically will never struggle with AE. They also get +2 tolerance of heathens so tolerance is also viable

I like playing as Korea. Korean ideas aren't so good. But you are a natural powerhouse and you start with amazing ruler. You can dominate Manchuria before 1500 and defeat Ming if you are lucky when they do the reform. Defeating Japan isn't also as hard if you time it properly.

Suprised Dithmarschen its not on the list. Even when having less than stellar ideas, their mission tree is absolutely broken and memery. Also its not an "easy" nation, i always end up going for the colonizer game.

True. Dithmarschen into prussia is absurdly overpowered. You get 20% goods produced modifier, +5 adm efficiency and permanent claims over russia from only dithmarschen missions.

Instead of starting with butua, start as kilwa. Get butua as vassal. Feed them 90% provinces. Attack them. Release them. Play as them. And have feudalism in the beginning

Mzab (feudal monarchy + ibadi religion = claims on everyone around you + you can form Tunis very fast and run in Africa to get a giant amount of manpower without worrying about the coalition) Only drawback is Castilla nearby.

Before watching this; I'll put a country I hope is here. Provence. Aside from Genoa; no other nation starts in a situation like Provence. You can join the HRE; be France's pal; go after all sorts of strange PU's, kill Brittiany and go colonial, go for Italy... Provence even has a unique idea; +2 Diploatic Relations. No other country gets this. So Provence also automatically becomes one of the best nations for a diplomacy game; with alliances, games of thrones and subjects. And it's not an easy start either. Austria usually dislikes you because you start allied to France. France will drag you into wars and take one of your cores via event, and shares your dynasty so you can get PU'ed. You're sandwiched between France and the HRE, the Pope often rivals and excommunicates you [and has a core of yours...].
