When visiting Hiroshima, it is a MUST to visit the incredible island of Miyajima, known as the 'Island Where God Lives'. From the cute deer who are waiting to welcome you as soon as your arrive, to the delicious traditional restaurants and shops on Omote Sando Street, to the jaw dropping views you get from the top of Mt Misen, there is something for everyone on this beautiful island. Ideally I would recommend staying overnight at a local Ryokan, but a day trip is also a great way to visit, just make sure you leave quite early in the morning if you plan on climbing up and down the mountain. Hope you enjoy the video! xx

If you are looking for a suggestion of where to stay in Miyajima overnight, here is THE BEST option (pricey but INCREDIBLE Japanese Ryokan) called Kinsuikan: booking.tp.st/5tpoOSKf and here is a good central budget option called Kikunoya: booking.tp.st/MHdinA1X *these are affiliate links, but it does not cost you as the consumer any extra :)

You should do something about the nonsense title even though you don't know about Japan. Popular islands in Japan are Yoron Island, Miyako Island, Okinawa, and Ishigaki Island, which are famous for their beautiful seas and many resort hotels.

Hi Alina, the good news is, that I did the Miyajima daytrip as highly recommended. By JR an boat, where the boat also was covered by the JR pass. Unfortunately I had not a too good view of the Tori gate in the water, because in 2019 it was covered in a scaffolding for renovation. I wrote to my friends, Cristo was here to do it. Cristo was an artist, who covered important buildings for artwork 🙂 I also missed the trip with the cablecar to the top of the mountain. But in the buddhist temple I have been in the cave with the 88 buddha statues, which also was quite impressive. I like how relaxed Katarina and You did this trip. Best regards, Ralf

In Japanese religion, there are said to be 8 million gods with "Amaterasu Omikami" (the sun) at the top. Each of these deities protects Japan in a division of labor, with each having different responsibilities. Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island is home to three goddesses.Princess Ichikishima, Princess Tagitsuhime, and Princess Tashin. They are sometimes called "Michinusi no muchi". they are regarded as the supreme deity of "road, way, and method, " and presides over the safety of voyage and travel. Princess Ichikishima is also called the goddess of music because of her biwa, a Japanese lute.

Great video from Miyajima, i walked up to the gate when water tide was out, stuck a coin on one of the pillars along with the many others already there.Busy packing for my 3week trip to mexico on Wednesday, watching your mexico city video your Canadian accent in the background is very calming as i rush around the house getting stuff that i will probably never need!! You pack your small osprey bag very light. While my 80litre osprey Sojourn is stuffed, good job it has wheels!!

Well, Alina visits Miyajima Island for a day trip. This place I had heard about but never had time for during my trips to the area. I was also told to stay overnight to get the best experience. It is definitely an interesting and scenic place to visit, and as always Alina showcases it very well. The second poisonous snake warning has moved up to running shoes from sandals. Yes, more snake proof footwear like boots, not a thing for GoGo girl Alina but small careful steps. Nice video.

Looks like some of the better places to go in Japan. I am not a super big city person, except for the museums. You should do a Southern Appilachian Mountains trip in the Eastern USA. Appilachian Parkway and/or Blue Ridge Parkway. From Virgina to Ashland, NC & visit the Biltmore Mansion. While not the same it is somewhat similar scenery.

Oysters are far better swallowed whole without biting. Let the digestive juices slowly unveil the taste. These ones were rather big for that though. Your friend Katarina seemed to enjoy it especially given this was her first tasting of oysters. You on the other hand seem to just dislike them. What a fantastic island. Lots to do - absolutely love the panoramic island views from the mountain that shrine. Seems you need more than a day to take it all in - especially with the hikes. What a lifestyle - Lucky You.
