I still drive it. I did 260K KM. Covered the seat with leather. Installed ARB Bull Bar at front. Changed the rim to Raguna. The engine still, gearbox still good because I never cold drive. I would spend 10-12 minutes to get the temperature up before driving.

Nice to see the passion and respect you have in your vehicle, i’m sure it’ll serve you well. Now unleash that mighty beast “the Iron Emu “ to its natural habitat…the vic high country!!!

90 series is still best value 4wd around indeed. And it's quite easy to find one which hasn't been bashed offroad (try looking for 80 series or GQ!) 8:50 the duplicolor paint code for the wheels/cap is Satellite Silver
@OTWD
@OTWD 6 ай бұрын
Such great value I reckon!! You reminded me of an 80 series I saw on carsales a few years back (mid COVID). 100,000km on the clock, a few basic mods -and they wanted 80k for it😮 Thanks for sharing that paint code. I've decided at the moment I can't be bothered refurbishing it - given the places I am going to take the car its probably not worth worrying about... (I took the best 4 caps between my old prado and this one). Maybe one day I'll repaint. Cheers mate

Love my 90 here in NZ. It’s an SR5. Doesn’t have traction control and I’ve never thought it needed it haha such a stable car

Looks like you've managed to grab a 90 in amazing condition! Guessing you'll be keeping the brake booster off the dingo as a spare 😂 Looking forward to seeing what you do with the 'new' Prado!
@OTWD
@OTWD 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching mate! Absolutely..I kept the original busted brake booster from the grey dingo, and reinstalled in the Iron emu to sell as a complete wreck. So I have the one I bought at a wrecker which was in the grey dingo only a few months - as a good spare ....I've seen a few people online looking for one, and been tempted to sell the spare ...😬 But I think I'll hang onto it. It's more or less the only spare I kept from the Grey Dingo. Cheers - looking forward to showing you some more videos 😀

Totally agree that simpler is better for going offroad. Maybe those side steps need to come off. They may not last long.
@OTWD
@OTWD 6 ай бұрын
Yep. Regardless of how complex the ABS brake booster computer is in this vehicle - it will surely be more easily fixable in the bush than the system in the new Prado 250. Cheers Michael!

That’s a great rig. Classy and time tested. Do you reckon lack of rear AC vents in this trim would be an issue for third row guests during full summers?
@OTWD
@OTWD 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching😬 It was a great find hey! I've never had third row passengers so my opinion isn't that valuable, sorry. I think the air con does a good job with our 2 kids in the middle row, but that's all I can say. I've been active on many forums and facebook groups, and no one seems to mention that as a problem (if that helps). Cheers!

Hi Henry, Thanks for watching mate, appreciate the encouragement. I'm average - 5 something. The seat goes back a long way, and I have heaps of head room. The ceiling is quite a bit higher than the head rest. Suggest asking this question in the facebook group - Toyota Prado 90 series | mighty 90s - good bunch of folks there willing to help.

Make sure you check the service history to see when the injectors were last changed, in my view these are the time bombs in this engine. Universal joints are easy and cheap to replace. Check engine and gearbox mounts, it seemed to vibrate quite a lot on startup, and the on-off throttle clunk could come from bad mounts plus the universals.
@OTWD
@OTWD 5 ай бұрын
Thanks heaps. This was before it had been gone over properly. It was either the universal or power steering rack bushes causing the clunk (both replaced at same time). Engine and Gearbox mounts were OK. After my service everything felt much more tight. Cheers!

Hi Jamie, apologies mate took a bit of a break and just got to your comment. I've got 2 x kids seats in now, not prepared to take them out Sorry. Are you on the Might 90 Series Prado facebook page? Suggest ask any questions you have there, people usually happy to help. I recall they sit a little proud of the floor. Why not take them out if you aren't going to use them? Makes heaps more area if just two people in the car.

I think the 2002 came with a 1KD engine instead of the 1KZ. Confirm if your frame is KDJ95 or KZJ95. If its a KDJ95 frame then you have 1KDFTV engine which is a 3.0D4D.
@OTWD
@OTWD 4 ай бұрын
Can confirm it's 1KZ-TE. May be the Australian version is different.
