The Most POLITICALLY INCORRECT Story Ever Told

Equal to the Tao Te Ching is the most politically incorrect book in the world, known as the Zhuangzi, attributed to the great Taoist sage Zhuangzi. One of the chapters in the Zhuangzi text is the story of Robber Zhi and Confucius. This passage tests our spiritual maturity and understanding of Taoism, essentially revealing any biased moral motivations we may still be holding onto. The chapter itself is one of the least understood and known because of its peculiar nature. But the problem is in how one should understand this chapter. Many took this story for fact, and others couldn't understand it because of their own sense of morality, all missing the beauty of its teachings. This short film exposes the parodic nature of the story, which is designed to test your embodiment of the Tao. Zhuangzi wants to breakdown all of your unnatural conditioning and thrust you back into the real world beyond socialization. The words of Zhuangzi are expertly translated by the great Sinologist and writer Burton Watson and narrated by myself.

The Robber Zhi story is the greatest illustration of wu wei in the world. Zhuangzi was a genius.

Is this a lesson of Wu Wei? Confucius knew of the reputation of Robber Zhi. Yet he felt that he could tame him. That might be interpreted as conceit. On the other hand, is it wrong for a man to try to make the world a better safer place for all? If one is fully in the Tao, the perspective of wanting change or to control others wouldn't exist. This story shows that Confucius wasn't abiding in Tao. Wouldn't the existence of this story show that Zhuangzi had ego and perhaps delighted in showing how Confucius was wrong? That doesn't seem like something somebody abiding in Tao would do. Is this a paradox or proof that neither of these famous Chinese men were abiding in Tao? There is no Wu Wei in this story.

The story is about wu wei. How did you not understand that? Robber Zhi teaches Confucius not to interfere with the world, which is the essence of wu wei. In typical Zhuangzi and Taoist fashion the story is profound but also supposed to be humorous. It is not meant to be taken too seriously in the analytical sense, which again is a Taoist approach. You are over thinking it and maybe approaching this story with a modern western competitive spirit. I'm still at odds why most "spiritual" people in the modern day are so competitive. Spirituality is not a competition. I'm still at odds as to how you don't understand that this story is about wu wei? Maybe you don't understand wu wei? You are definitely overanalyzing the story when you listen to it. This is why Zhuangzi is for those who are advanced on the path. Zhuangzi told stories that reflected the time he lived, and yes he lived under the tyranny of Confucian ideology. Also Taoists don't have the western view of ego and something else, which you are trying to hold him to. Taoists look at the whole being and don't split it up into two things. Taoism is about deprogramming yourself from the conditioning you have had so you can harmonize with the Tao. That is what Robber Zhi is trying to teach Confucius in this story, let go of trying to control others and allow the world to be. Also you seem to think that Zhuangzi would care of your projections of him, he is Taoist hence he is real and doesn't care what you think of him. He doesn't censor himself but instead only speaks the truth in alignment with what is natural, the Tao. You might want to approach Taoism different to how you've been trained. It is natural and your inability to understand the story is because you are listening to it from the perspective of a person who has been socially trained. That is something for you to overcome. I hope you stop being in competition with everyone spiritually and really try and understand your spiritual nature.

After all these years of Jason teaching Taoism people still don't get wuwei. It really amazes me. You took a really beautiful story and dedication to Burton Watson and did what many people do these days, you took a dump on it. People these days seem to have no intuition or sense of art, Again it amazes me.

@@harrygreen3277 Yet you couldn't resist ensuring that I was told that I was wrong. The same goes for @spiritworld6655 . Your interpretation of Wu Wei is so much better than mine. Since clearly I'm inferior, it is understandable for me to make comments.

@@spiritworld6655 All these years? I found Jason's videos within the last year. I have not watched all of them. Yet I understand Wu Wei. As time goes on it is easier for me to implement it. Maybe I'm following in the footsteps of Zhuangzi. Since you understand Wu Wei, why are you making this comment after all of these years of listening to Jason's videos?

Well, therein lies a question. Is reacting to a comment wuwei, or is it just ego defending a point of view?
