Maps being ‘balanced’ doesn’t make them good or bad, it simply adds more complexity to the game, there shouldn’t be this obsession with maps being completely 50/50 t/ct, Cobblestone was awesome to watch at the pro level back in 2016-18 not despite it’s balance but because of it

Im really scared of nuke getting removed from cs tbh cuz its the only map that makes cs2 fun to me rn

the imbalance of nuke doesn't always show itself in high level play but it has a huge effect in low to mid rank games, the type of games that have players that don't know about nuke's inherent imbalance and/or play the game with no broad strategy with a 'one round at a time' mindset. I could tell early on that nuke had a substantial imbalance so I used that to my advantage all the way back when csgo came out right up until the present day. I would always tell my teammates not to get discouraged on T side nuke, and when we are on CT side I would pressure my teammates to use the map to our advantage to win as many rounds as possible. knowing about the imbalance automatically created an advantage because we could manage our expectations as T and stay disciplined to string together rounds as CT.

In nuke it just feels weird that you can’t get on the yellow bridge atop of a site. It’s clearly meant for people to go onto and crossover if it was real life

AFAIK as of recent, due to MR12 and subsequent hit to CT's economy balance on Nuke evened out a little bit

This obsession with balanced maps for competitive play is why today's CS is such a bore today. Sure balanced maps for competitive play aren't bad but they aren't everything. Firstly there is a huge amount of fun and challenge in playing as CT in casual games of cs_assault on 1.6; then they nerfed that map by giving the CTs 17 new entrances in CSGO to 'balance it' - they 'balanced' an absolute classic ffs. Secondly, competitive games on maps like de_aztec were a challenge when playing as T and a real test of both individual ability and tactics - now the maps all have the same layout. Even Nuke has been nerfed since the original.

if somebody wants 50/50 balance just play mirage for the rest of your life, maps should be different, both pros and cons makes the character of the map, i would love to see more crazy, unbalanced but fun maps in regular competitive, removing aztec, assault and others was one of the worst updates in history, valve is forgetting that this game was never competitive only, it was and should be based on casual aspect too

I hated it at first but i love Nuke now! People just don't bother to actually learn it. If you take time to fully learn it and get good at it it's a great and extremely fun map to play.

there is only one way to fix that unchanged -unbalance maps- give the stronger / pro player to less winning side, for instance : Mark have 85% KDA -Jonathan have 65% KDA throw mark to the T side, professionals always find a way to kill their enemies. on other side if Jonathan have a decent aim and a fucking brain in his skull he will camping on important locations. that sentences will not fix everything properly but makes games more playable in other aspects. cheers.

I think the CS2 smoke changes make Nuke much more viable for t-side. The extended bloom allows mid smoke setups that fully cover entry to secret. Pro matches on Nuke are always way more interesting than any other map because teams need to think so much more on t-side

Real competitive CS is a game of BO3s. What matters is that in total the map pool is balanced not an individual map. More Ct sided maps favor different kinds of teams to T sided maps. Ideally you have 1-2 maps that are T sided and 1-2 that are CT sided, Then few fairly neutral ones. Also you have to remember both teams get to play on CT side, so it's not like one team just automatically wins the map by starting on one side.

Nuke is not unbalanced anymore CT/T wr%: Big events, 2024 (96 maps) (HLTV): 50.5%/49.5% Over 5k premier* (3,933,191 rounds) (Leetify): 51.5%/48.5% although these numbers slightly imply a slight ct advantage its far from being "unbalanced" (mirage has worse T wr from same sources) only really overpass and anubis are unbalanced (~5% or more imbalance) *even in super low ranks it doesn't seem to change much (~+1%)

Who gives a shit about balance? I think balance of maps is a trojan horse concept in competitive cs to begin with. Teams switches sides, so the same way they were heavily disadvantaged on first half, they now have big chance to make comeback on second. And it puts more weight to any won rounds, rather than what otherwise would be a bland 50-50 in a perfectly balanced map.

It's by far my favorite map of CSGO/CS2 .

The removal of the window in hut, toxic in B and the railings connecting silo to heaven is a huge downgrade in my opinion. The map was waaaaaaaaaaay more fun with those!

Anubis is clearly more unbalanced than Nuke. t side win rate was like 55% or something ridiculous. Both of these are still my favorite maps though

nuke is easily the map for having the most fun. all of the different angles, all the tricks & wallbangs along the map. i’ve never not had fun while playing nuke (unless there’s a cheater) because of all the endless possibilities you can throw into the mix. i’ve had my craziest shots on nuke also with insane wallbangs, collaterals, & overall insane shots. i really hope it doesn’t get removed from the map pool anytime soon.

i knew about CS but never played it, only started playing with CS2 release because of my friends not wanting to play any game..competitively speaking in my opinion ancient is the best overall map, then anubis, nuke is a meme map, vertigo is ok but became broken (full CT advantage) with the last changes, overpass is 3rd best map, dust is the newbie map, inferno 2nd newbie map.

I think CS is better when maps are CT sided. To a reasonable degree. In CSGO I liked playing on maps like Nuke or Train where you should win the CT half, lets say 10-5. It made losing rounds as CT impactful, because every round you didnt win meant having to win a harder round on the T side. It gave the CTs a good economy to buy expensive guns, run double AWP setups or maybe pull out an autosniper or even a machine gun if you wanted to lock down an angle for half a minute spraying 150 bullets at it. And it made the T side much more exciting to play. You really had to try to outstrategize the CT team instead of just playing a default, then throwing the meta utility into a bombsite and taking a 50-50 fight with the CTs. You would often be strapped for cash and playing with tec9s, mac10s, galils, a scout, and picking up the good guns from the CTs that you killed. Nowadays with every map being balanced for 6-6 in MR12, I cant remember the last time I did an eco round as a T. I just build up money through the half even if we do lose a couple rounds and because the bombsites are so easy to walk into I dont have to do much to get an easy kill on a CT player with a bad gun, you can get into short range and spam them down with a mac10 or a pistol so easily. Of course this does mean you have less downtime but it just makes the strategy aspect less important. The game seems more and more like call of duty with an economy system instead of counter strike.

Nuke isnt even that ct sided all you need is to know how to use util and then its fairly balanced. Nuke heavily rewards smart team play and is the most fun map to both play and watch in tournaments. Best map IMO.

What I don't get about "waah waaaah it's CT-sided!!!!" people is that... there is a team switch at the halfway point. If one team gets stomped purely because they're on T side, they can simply just prove themselves in the second half. And it works the other way around too, if a team can only win rounds because they're on CT side and not because of their own skill, then they will eat shit on T side. It doesn't matter what side wins more on a map, because teams play both sides during a game.

ngl, Nuke is the best map right now. The unpredictability is what make it fun and dynamic to watch and play in pro scene. But for casual is fine at best since its core design is for team play not one-on-one fight too much like other pub-style map.
