I know you are going over fourth, tenth, and thirteenth doctor in other videos so I would say you all did a good job on hitting all the powerful commanders. The war doctor I think could be pretty powerful if built right

The War Doctor is by far the most powerful of all the commanders in the set. Pair him with Clara for black, and utilize cascade and any number of impulse draw cards to see him doming people for lots of damage. Cascade is especially funny, since the way the mechanic works is that it exiles each card individually, meaning if you cascade enough cards, the War Doctor might just be able to one shot a player right off the bat. Add Clara into the mix to double up the triggers, and you'll be nuking people left and right.

The War Doctor and the 12th Doctor are ones I think you've missed. People have talked about the War Doctor already but demonstrate is very powerful, and under-explored.

It's not though, at least in my experience. Unless you've got G in identity, getting your commander on the board by turn 3 is really important to execute a game plan. It's going to be different from group to group, I think. Obviously you can be at a very casual table with big battlecruiser commanders and that is a lot of fun. But even my decks, which I would say are at most 7s, really really want the commander out by turn 3.

yeah... I am going to go through my wrexial deck and revamp it with about 15 rocks and find some dark ritual black market type effects so I can make the deck playable at most tables even if it won't win... just want cthulhu

Didn’t Gavin misplay WD’s triggered ability though? Since the card says “one or more cards” and “put a time counter” for the exile clause, it should just get a time counter per triggering instance. If it was supposed to get X time counters where X is the number of cards exiled, shouldn’t the text read “Put that many counters on this card”?

@@MarineS0n2 It has to do with how "exile until" works. You aren't exiling multiple cards at once like with Farewell which says "exile all" or an effect that gives a specified number, like Grasp of Fate. Instead, you're exiling cards one at a time sequentially because there's an in between "check" step for the effect of cards like Ryan Sinclair to see if they meet whatever the "until" criteria is. Each exiled card triggers War Doctor's first effect.

Really fun thing about "the master, multiplied" is if you run him in grixis, with jon irenicus, you can gift goaded copies of the master that cannot be sacrificed to your opponents. Which gets even sillier.

Silly, yes. Helpful, not in the least. The goad only applies to the initial token you gifted, not any generated by myriad. All their myriad copies will keep the "cannot be sacrificed" but though. Not the best consolation prize for making them smack you over and over again.

Not the Christian Satan. By the episode's explanation, the Beast came first and inspired the stories of Satan-like figures in nearly every culture in the universe. In other words, just like Humans look Time Lord since the Time Lords came first, so too does Satan look like the Beast.

Some great things to do with River Song: Junktroller/Reito Lantern type effects to recycle cards easily, since you'll be drawing those cards immediately. Scry effects to look at cards you'd not be drawing anyway, then put things you do want to draw to the bottom. Future Sight/Reality Chip type effects to essentially have an additional card in hand, since you aren't drawing from the top that card will be there for a while. Brainstorm/Scroll Rack effects to tuck cards from your hand you don't want on top where you won't re-draw them. Impulsive draw effects getting you cards from the top that you wouldn't have drawn otherwise. Teferi's Puzzle Box is actually quite good with River, _because_ your hand stays the same but your opponents' don't. This way, you get to keep your crafted hand while your opponents always have ever changing hands that they can't plan ahead with.

The Master, Formed Anew is aristocrat combo city. It it exiles a persist and an undying creature with him then you just get infinite death triggers. Also, Gitaxian Puppeteer and Cavalier of Night just combo by themselves with him because their death triggers reanimate themselves. I think he is very slept on.

Super excited to build around The Rani. I think she works great with cards that have Bargain, to use those Clues and Enchantments in different ways. Plus Lich-Knights’ Conquest is a way to get rid of all the Mark of the Rani tokens if you get down to 1v1

Spoilers on River Song is absolutely an amazing ability btw, you guys missed Hive Mind:/ Also something like a Locust God with Teferi’s Puzzle Box or Warp World is a win condition. The only problem I have with her is deciding whether to run the Infinite Turns nonsense or if that’s too strong…

I think you can do the River Song + Timestream Navigator combo without haste, so long as you activate it on your upkeep. Granted it has to survive one round at the table first, but upkeep before drawing, you activate her, put her on the bottom, then draw her for turn and replay her. On your next turn you do the same thing. You'll be locked out of card draws for those extra turns, but it could theoretically still work for you if you've got stuff set up already.

I’m so glad you went over The Master Multiplied because I had no idea his potential, but once you talked about it, I got just so excited! Rakdos is one of my favorite color combinations, but I have never made a Rakdos deck, so glad I have a super cool and unique one to try out. I also made a deck of Tenth Doctor and Rose with The Face of Boe in the 99. He’s a great character and Commander, so I can see myself easily just tweaking my deck a bit to try him out sometime.

One finisher I think would be good with rani and helps with one of goad’s biggest weakness which is 1v1 scenarios is brudiclad because if I remember, aura’s that you attach to opponent’s creature are still controlled by you so what you can do is turn all of the auras and clues into either the myr token brud makes or a better token and use it to attack the last opponent.

I'm not sure if you mentioned it but The Rani puts the mark auras on "another target creature", so you can stack those +2/+2's on your own creatures instead of opponents. (Like when your are down to 2 players.)

Breach the Multiverse and Shadow of the Enemy from March of the Machine and LOTR respectively are very good in a beast, deathless prince deck as well for big plays late in the game, maybe in the 2nd or 3rd cast of him if you cant get him to stick around for some reason

Face of Boe could make good use of a Bomberman combo as a wincon, subbing Lotus Bloom for LED and adding a Jeskai Ascendancy. Doesn't cost a lot of deck slots and all the pieces have some good utility

In regard to Ashad, the Lone Cyberman: It's important to note that, if you happen to have a token doubler (Annointed Procession, Doubling Season, etc), this effect does not interact. In previous cards that make copies of spells on the stack that resolve as tokens, you are not actually creating any tokens. I've seen several people play previous cards with this copy effect incorrectly. Edit: They point this out near the end while talking about the 6th Doctor.

Ashad is going straight into OG Mishra for me. The trick with Mishra is to do stuff like Nether Void, where every cast spell is countered but you can reanimate the countered artifacts you cast. Ashad is another avenue for that.

In regards to Jimmy's comment on Missy: It is true that turning a Morph creature face-up is a special action that does not use the stack. The triggered ability when it's turned face-up does go on the stack. This is the first opportunity for priority to pass and players to take actions.

With missy, and the infinite reveals and does triggers, once the creature becomes a Cyberman it doesn't stop when it's turned face up so it'll be an artifact when you sacrifice it and won't trigger missy. Right?

I feel like everyone underplays how silly Jaxis the troublemaker is for the Master multiplied. it always gets brought up as just another clone enabler but it's better than that. She gives them the Blitz text, meaning the tokens spawned off her have it too. so if somehow someone mounts a comeback against your army (board wipe, enough good blockers ect) you've just drawn a card for each myriad spawned from her one clone potentially keeping you in the game

I just don't see The Face of Boe doing much. The idea of those strong spells banned everywhere sounds nice, but you actually have to do a lot of work to get them out with casting your 4 drop, wait a turn, than you can do it. I just think it's better to suspend the cards like normal than have 9/10/Amy removing time counters

It's a little slow, but I kind of adore Mishra's Self-Replicator in Ashad. Stacking your on-cast triggers to pay 1, make a copy of the Self-Replicator and immediately sac it to the Casualty 2? Tasty.

I'd be interested in hearing opinions on Reito Sentinel and River from anyone who brews. I'm not really an izzet player, but I'm thinking about all the recursion the Sentinel could provide her. The fact that you just have to pay 3 to set up your draw means you are almost always going to get your cards back when you want them. Get enough mana and you never lose. But maybe Sentinel isn't as good as I think?

Creatureless riversong with proteus staff if funny. Don't even run the navigator, that way you are safe letting her tuck into your deck, then just stacking your full deck.

Im sure you guys have already seen a comment like mine a million times, but you can do a polymorph/chaos strategy with river song. Using cards like chaos warp, it makes an opponent shuffle

I didn't know about passionate archeologist that seems insane for 10/Rose. The primary reason being you have 2 commanders for double the damage. Use with Clara instead and suddenly it's 3 triggers

When you try to untap a creature with stun counter on it, it doesn't untap, just remove a counter instead.

Umm, I get that the legend rule doesn't apply to tokens...but what about the original non-token version? Wouldn't they see another legend that shares it's name and legend rule itself?

See i would agree with you but i prefer to use 5 with peri brown to get access to convoke for my historic cards and then untap at the end of turn to maintain a wall of defensive creatures. Also cost wise i think that the 1 mana gained from susan is seriously outclassed by having an easy convoke plus untap to effectively provide an extra card without mana any mana cost once you have a large enough board

i really love the beast as an idea for a deck.... but i am already brewing a durin's bane deck and have a scorpion god deck... i don't want to have 3 rakdos decks...... but i'm probably going to... i am just going to "that grixis player" at my lgs soon between my decks
