I always felt the most powerful scene in that movie, was when George realized he wants to go back to his life, with Mary and the kids even though his life is in financial ruin and he may go to prison - and he’s on the bridge, with the police looking for him and he begins to pray. First he keeps saying “Help Me Clarance,” but he’s still stuck in the world where he was never born… the. Finally at the depths of his despair, he calls out softly “Help Me GOD”, and suddenly the snow begins to fall just as it was before he got his glimpse. Powerful, because until he submitted to God, and called out to him, he was not returned to where he was loved.

I've never seen this movie. But I can confirm that if we ask God to help us when we are in danger and that plead comes from our heart it is never ignored. The help will come in matter of minutes or even seconds in most surprising form. If another person is involved in that help later that person will not be able to explain why she/ he did what did and helped. Not understanding what is doing, first thoughts having of not wanting to get involved suddenly they do opposite to what their brain told them. So even so extreme is the help

My older brother…this was his favorite movie. He took himself from this world 22 years ago. Every time I see a glimpse of that movie I die a little bit inside. It hurts to think that movie was like a pep talk, telling him he had a purpose. Still breaks my heart but I want the message to resonate to those who need it. I hurt every day for him. It will never fully heal the hole he left in my life. If I could go back in time I would tell him one last time how much he mattered to his little sister. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Please. 🙏

One of the reasons I love and respect "It's a Wonderful Life" so much is that it wasn't sugar-coated, the darkness George went through. The close-up of his face at the cemetery during his Dark Night of the Soul was profoundly unsettling. Very effective. Not a completely light film. Thank God for co-creating it with the wonderful talent that contributed to this beautiful work of art.

My late father trained in B-24s with Stewart stateside and spoke with him daily before they were assigned to their respective combat unit and went overseas. Stewart served in England with the 8th Air Force while my dad served in Italy with the 15th Air Force. His group flew a total of 210 missions and suffered high casualties. My dad's group received 2 Presidential Unit Citatioms and he himself received 2 Purple Hearts and an Air Medal. He was a real WW2 hero. His group was escorted regularly by the Tuskegee Airmen. Like Stewart, my dad suffered from PTSD for the rest of his life. During a conversation with my mother after my dad passed, she told me my father was never the same after he returned home. "The Greatest Generation" indeed. Needless to say I am very proud of my dad's heroic and selfless contribution and sacrifice winning the war. I miss and love you very much Dad.

Zuzu Bailey was acted by a 6 year old Karolyn Grimes and we knew her when she was an adult. She lived in a suburb of Kansas City, she was married and the had several children. My daughter played flute at Church accompanying the choir. It was a lovely Catholic Church and Karolyn sang in the choir. My daughter also played at her youngest son’s funeral at Church because he committed suicide. That was hard because my daughter was a high school student and to attend a funeral for a high schoolboy was very hard. My family always watched this every Christmas and we loved Jimmy Stewart and we never missed a movie that he was in.

His portrayal of Jesus in The Passion, kind of helped change my life. I'm still a sinner. I believed in God for most of my life, but when I saw what Jesus did for ME, played out in a realistic way, it still brings me to tears when I see it. Thinking about the fact that he could've said "forget this, let these humans burn in Hell" and came down off the cross and ruled the world forever with an iron fist. He had the ability to do it. However, he allowed himself to know what it was to be human and understood that it would take his own blood to wash away the sins of all mankind. So he endured more than anyone could think of. I've heard some atheists say "that's not what he would've actually went through". No, he did. They caned him, flogged him, whipped him, put a crown of thorns on him then make him carry the cross he would be nailed to when he got there. There aren't many ways of dying that would be worse. And he did it all for every individual person that existed or will ever exist again. Even if you didn't believe in him a Christ (though you should), you have to at least admit that no one else would go through that for humanity. They might get through part of it. Not all of it. If he wasn't Jesus, he would've died before being crucified. The fact that he was God in the flesh is the only reason he survived as long as he did.

That movie always seemed to be on when I went to my grandmothers house as a child, so I never watched it until about the last 10 years ago . I am a Christian and didn’t realize how spiritual and wholesome that movie was. It’s starts out with prayers going up! I never miss it now and I turned my daughter and grandson on to it. We love it!❤

@@helen7635 Actually, there's this small town we were considering moving to, so I joined their page on social media to get a feel....these people ask for things they need, share a lost pet or found pet, they help identify snake species, the library asks for help to buy chairs for the patrons - and they all come through for each other. They sell their eggs at a decent cost, they offer to help others when they need it. The one that legitimately surprised me was when people asked for a ride to work and others all replied, often many offers for a ride to the store or work. We don't see that in the suburbs. I don't know if it's the town or the fact that the townspeople are actively asking and listening but it IS OUT THERE...we just have to look for it. ♥️

It bombed. It flopped so bad it ended the career of the director and the studio that made it was forced to close. It only became popular because the company that owned the rights failed to renew it's copyright so it became public domain. This meant that TV station could show it as much as they wanted without paying royalties. So it got played ALOT during the holiday season.

They just don't make em like Jimmy Stewart anymore. It's obvious to the people that lived through his acting career that he was a great actor, but most have no idea the accomplishments that man achieved. I often reference him because of the things he seen in his life and still kept it together, he didn't ever show the pain that he lived with. Flying bombing missions over Europe during World War 2 was about as dangerous as it got, and those brave men should always be remembered for their contributions. Jimmy Stewart would go on to the Air Force after it became an independent branch after the war. He would also become the highest ranking actor to ever serve in the military, retiring after 27 years of service as a Brigadier General. Jimmy Stewart was a genuinely great man, a great soldier and one of the finest actors that ever lived. The world misses you Jimmy

I struggle everyday to forgive myself still fory mistake and for almost leaving but I also combat that by endeavouring to spend the rest of my life ensuring I make my angel and our two daughters happy and that this time I'll be who I should of been before I was giving this chance.

And that’s the thing. Our lives are all made to fit together. We are in each others lives for a reason, and everybody really depends on everyone else. When somebody checks out of life, whether it’s through Substance abuse or taking his/her own life, s/he refuses to hold up her end. It leaves absolutely everybody around that person in a terrible, terrible bind. even with the grief aside. And that’s profound. I think that the new, cultural norm, where kid gets to be a kid with no responsibilities, and Lil real life learning, but sits in front of the game console all day long, is the underminer of that. for those whose parents are present in their lives, who do things with their kids, teach them skills, and expect them to do a few chores, those good parents teach their children that there is something that they can do to make a difference in the life of the entire family unit, and everyone in it. The kid who helps chop and stack firewood, is willing to help provide for the warmth of the family, and shows empathy for the person who would usually do that, which is usually the father. He builds solid relationships that way. The kid who knows enough to show up and pitch in to help make a meal, tries to shoulder a little bit of the burden, and reduce the time required for the whole family to eat well. That kid learns to look after himself later, but also shows empathy for the person who does the cooking, who is usually the mother. It’s about caring enough to give the people who do The vast majority of the work, the opportunity to have a little more leisure time which could be spent with the kids or taking a mental health break. properly done, children who are well raised, see how each person is important to the function of the family unit and makes a contribution. There’s a big movement to undermine the integrity of the family these days. Part of that involves lying in the guise of compassion about who people are, and what’s the focus on getting as much attention as possible for one person, however, dishonestly. It lies to people about how important each person is. it lies to children about whether or not they are in the bodies that are fashionable. It lies about the importance of life beyond our own. It lies about the importance of life in the embryonic stages. Lies about the existence of a heavenly father, and a plan of salvation, with love that is unselfish and forward-thinking, that builds, and acquires and applies knowledge, and looks after the neighbor. Thank you for taking the time to put this forward. It’s important that we all think about it.

He was Sandys uncle and there are amazing old pictures in their home of him. The coolest part though is that in the old days he would visit Strasburg and walk around without his hat on at the time he was balding and no one would recognize him except once when he went into the news stand and the little old lady feinted when he paid for something.
