It's likely just cause it's being run by a micro controller, and it's on battery. Considering it doesn't have a dedicated power switch sometimes micro controllers get locked up in the BOD when the voltage drops too low and you have to manually reset them either with a power cycle (impossible in this case as it's powered by a battery) or using a reset pin to trigger a reset on the micro controller. So it's actually a very useful thing (though they could have also just put a power switch on it.)

You can use your volume down button as a camera shutter button. This is pointless other than the MagSafe part. The volume down even works for burst shots if you hold it down. Not many people know about this which isn’t surprising I only learned about it by accident. A lot of Apple features work that way, you just eventually do certain things and go wow that does that type thing lol.

It makes the camera more stable and really helps with the new lighter phones if you're taking night shots and you're not super stable. Plus it's bluetooth so you can use it as a remote trigger too.

YEAH we used to have shutter buttons on phones, or at least android did .. you could feel the multi-stage depressions for pictures just like a REAL camera... now we get to use touch screen or a volume button.. I designed and made one of these as soon as MagSafe was announced with the iPhone 12, well before the shift cam existed or any other version. I looked around to see if anybody had made one yet, but I didn’t find anything, so I was going to try to get a patent and start producing them, but I never really got around to it. You snooze you lose I guess, maybe next time.

I've got one (and the tripod and ring light attachment) the other attachments are only good on MagSafe phones earlier than the 14 as if you use multiple then the wide angle lens in the newer phones can see them. So you can use any 1 attachment but multiple causes an issue.

Been using it for years, works fine if you take a lot of photos. Can also double as a charger if you use wireless charging, and as a stand.

@@GeoffDeGeoff Maybe I'm just minimalist but I take a lot of photo and video (I travel most of the year) and I don't need to carry this, I have a thin magsafe anker power bank that has integrated stand too, and I just click the screen to take pictures/video lol

@@WeiFinder fair enough, but this will double as a wireless power bank if needed (wireless charging is something I hate as it's too lossy which means this one is better for me as I can turn that off) so I always have a cable and a battery too and I'm pretty minimalist I can do a week away with my tech and changes of clothes in a single rucksack. Clearly not as minimalist as you though :)
