As a person that has to pedal to get to the trail - I really look forward to this category. My enduro bikes are a chore compared to xc bikes.

I know right! Tallboy would be a good comparison, not ridden the latest one yet, the geo is more conservative for a start

I've got the open mould variant of this bike from China. Rear triangle is somewhat different, but like you said loving this bikes geo. Real fast going up and even faster going down!

Great review David, was wondering how tall you are in relation to the size large?

Hey thanks! I'm 5'11". I fitted a shorter stem but other than that I found the sizing spot on. It does take a bit of getting used to especially if you're coming from a short bike, but it's a revelation once you get riding

How does it climb in relation to a traditional xc race geometry? is the longer/slacker geometry problematic for steep climbs? Thanks

Thankfully the seat tube angle is steep enough to ensure that it does climb well. The only place I found it a little tricky is very steep and very tight hairpin turns. Those aside it was blistering quick on the climbs. Another benefit of the geometry is it's very stable on bumpy climbs and the position really lets you stretch out and get the power down

david arthur - quick question, how does it compare to a bmc Fourstroke 01 (I read your review on pb) Cannot decide between the 2, I have a pole 130 trail which I love, and I want a slack/steep tube xc bike for faster ride days. Hoping you can help please. I will ride a lot of rooty and loose single track with this. Thx

Is it a full stiff lockout or more like a 'traction mode'' lockout?

Yes it’s a full lockout on this bike. I’d rather have a firm compression option

You're wrong... Carbonda fm 936 has the same front triangle only reartriangle and rockerarm slightly different. See also chinertown.com/index.php/topic,2079.60.html Im loving the china version😀
