Correction: The Earthquake that caused the nuclear disaster in Japan was of magnitude 9.0 on the Richter scale. We used a 'Fukushima' earthquake value by mistake.

God, this makes me so depressed. We are just destroying our planet. Between garbage, radioactive material, and fossil fuel burning its gonna be a miracle if our planet survives another 100 years.
@exergon
@exergon 6 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is, our planet earth is actually in top condition, it will survive no matter what we do, climate changes, pollution etc are nothing compared to what our planet had gone through a long time ago. What most people actually mean is we are destroying humanity, ourselves, we make the conditions where we live in worse for us to survive.
@WigginMillerGames
@WigginMillerGames 6 жыл бұрын
The Exergon that’s what I mean. Of course the planet will survive until a meteor hits it or the sun implodes or a rogue black hole, but we are making it inhospitable where we’re gonna have another climate extinction event.

The inherent nature of a nuclear explosion produces lots of radiation at the moment of the explosion but because of this, the radiation does not last very long. It dissipates surprisingly fast

Because it's not a major thread due to the way Japan handled it. They quickly evacuated people and cleared the land around it. As well as that, the reactor itself didn't leak much. The inside of it's containment vessel would easily kill people, but the land/atmosphere around it was affected much less than in instances like Chernobyl.

This channel is awesome but this video lacks some science to back it up. If you are making a list of most radioactive places at least you should use a measurement scale and units like the Sievert, the rad or the Curie to compare them. Also you are not considering the isotope of the elements you mentioned, cause they may have a different kind of radiation or a different activity (decays per sec). And there's also the half life of the radioactive element (or waste in this case) since it's not the same a ton of uranium 10 years old to a ton of the same uranium of a thousand years.

That huge amount of water he said Sellafield outputs has gone through loads of cleaning and filtering to remove almost all the radioactivity. Seawater has some (very low) radioactivity in it anyway, in fact, we could actually harvest uranium from the ocean.

I am dating a guy who is from the 3rd placed "the polygon", Kazakhstan area. He is handsome, healthy, smart and amazing. He is in his early 20s and totally financially independent owns a small business and a new car. He is pro in mma and jiu-jitsu also been in army forces for 2 years. I've got a very close friend who is from Minsk which is close to Chernobyl in Belarus 2nd place. She is hot read head extremely hardworking, works 2 jobs, has 2 European degrees, speaks 3 languages fluently and has the highest GPA and also totally independent. It makes me thinking that 3rd generation of people that undergone radiation might have developed immune system, and benefiting from "good" mutations. Or healthy DNA and genes fight back so it improves overall qualities.

Chernobyl should have been first due to it having the elephants foot ,a mix of uranium, steel and other materials.It's radiation level is really high being exposed to it can lead to death within minutes or days depending how long the exposure to it.Even with proper gear.The elephants foot may be an object but it's still in a hugely radioactive place.

My friend lives in Fukushima, but in places that isn’t close to the plant, it is absolutely safe to live in. In some places previously restricted to enter, people are actually allowed to move back because it has been considered safe after six years. In fact, in most regions of Fukushima, the radiation is actually far lower than the average of Denver. And it has been confirmed that there is little risk for internal radiation in the permitted places in Fukushima. Even more, you can walk just outside of the plant without any protective suit and have no health concerns. It’s just that you may not want to stay there for an entire year. So just because it was the most recent nuclear disaster, I disagree that it is the longest lasting nuclear danger in the world. Clearly, more nuclear substance was released in Hiroshima, and even more in the nuclear experiments during 1950-1990. Quite a lot of fallout from the experiments did reach major cities during that time, and as you know, humans are still alive.

Back in 2011 in Nebraska there’s a town called Omaha and we have a nuclear power plant set up on our Missouri River and it was flooded and very bad things happened thousands lost homes up and down the river and the power plant had to be shut down and now is permanently shut down because it’s to risky to run because even right now Nebraska is getting record flooding and is hurting a lot of the state

Correction: The most radioactive place in the world is Pripyat Hospital Basement. The highest sievert count is estimated to be 500 millisieverts to 1.5 sieverts
@AdamSmith-gs2dv
@AdamSmith-gs2dv 5 жыл бұрын
That's interesting because your average smoker is exposed to 160000 millisieverts in a year. Yes that's right by smoking you are exposing yourself to more radiation than by standing in that basement. Yet another reason to quit...
