my horse goes lame while riding too, for him it just means he is going to slow and he needs more energy, this is just my horse but it might be something to consider. but again this is my horse.

I’m sure you know it this already but ride with a crop under your thumbs to help with turning your hands. Loved watching these lessons and I agree, ride with the best trainer you have access to! Why wouldn’t you?? I ride with an FEI level dressage trainer and we do a very similar exercise to the one you’re doing with Percy. It forces you to use your outside aids properly but is SO hard! You’re right, much harder than it looks!
