I remember in the late 80's and early 90's the Koega Development was a hot topic in the Eastern Cape, there were big Ads everywhere, it was surposed to be the injection the Koega Area needed, a new "deeper water port" and Aluminum smelters and associated industries to compliment the development. Today people think it was the new government who did all of that, but it was done by the previous government, it was one of the 100 year plans which all First worlds do to ensure a better tomorrow, today. I grew up in the area and unless you were and Engineer or Politician back then, I probably know more about this project than your average Joe, Engineering was in my blood, so to speak, only if we were richer, LOL! The only reason why the ANC could not scrap all the thousands of projects the previous government planned and money set aside for was the fact that, like all First World counties these projects was set in stone via the Law and Proclaimed in the Government Gazette (Do they still print those?) Basically, the New Government had no choice in completing these "Proclamations" because there were hefty fines build into the failure of projects. It is also why so many roads were looked after by Contractors for a number of years until the Contracts ran out and the ANC found it more beneficial to rob the State Coffers than providing infrastructure to the very people they are suppose to serve. The money ran out half way through the reign of Tabo Mbeki, after the money ran out and Tabo was gone, the plundering started in real earnest. It is not hard to get South African back on track, "Just give it back to the people who made the country a world force," Now I hear "Racist, Racist" complete nonsense, If you want to make a Company very rich and successful, or build an Army, Provide Clean Hospitals, Good Policemen and women, better roads, Towns, Electricity, Water, then who the F&^%$$ cares if he/she/it, is Black, While, Brown, hell even Purple. Nobody should care!! If I stand next to any South African in a war, I don't care about the color of your skin, because, we fight together and we die together because at that point in my life I only have one friend, they guy standing next to me!
