Now one of the most iconic lines in watchmaking is the OMEGA Speedmaster. Yeah I know coming right out of the box here with the bold takes, but given its popularity, the line has become overwhelming to navigate with its many limited editions that seem to be coming out on a monthly basis. Today we look through a lot of the fluff and focus on one of my personal favorites both in looks and wearability, with the OMEGA CK2998, perhaps one of the best and most wearable Speedmasters on the market.

I have a first omega in space. Fantastic case size for a smaller wrist. My wrist is about the same size as yours. And actually, I've had my wife (who is short and slim) try it on, and it doesn't look too big on her. So, I'd say to anyone worried about case size, don't. If you're male (and you probably are if you're watching a watch KZfaq channel), it'll fit and wear well, even if you're smaller wristed.

I’ve owned an Omega speedmaster professional for maybe 5 years, it is my most “luxurious” watch I have in my collection... I’m still in the honeymoon phase even after all this time.

The blue 2998 should have had a perforated strap, like this has. It’s a really cool feature, and very racing-esque, which the original Speedmaster was designed for.

I was very fortunate to get one during the release and its still one of my favorite Omega watches. I wear it a lot more than my ultraman and the size is perfect, personally speaking. Great review, it won't hit the heights of the snoopy 45th but it will be a classic...

Exactly, so what if the price doesn't go bonkers? It's the beauty of the watch u have and the love u have for that piece that counts. Otherwise if one were only to keep thinking about the resale, then he should never have bought a watch in the first place. Watches are toys for grown men. That's it. 😁

Am I the only 1 that appreciate those limited edition by omega? It makes me feel like my speedy is more personal or special to myself. Even if there’s others out there, they are different only watch or speedy fan can tell. We are all astronauts but inside our suit, we are different :)

I truly enjoy your videos. I have always loved watches but for me their aesthetic value is more important than brand name. The beauty of the design is a very subjective thing. You did a fantastic job, describing this Omega. I am a fan of your channel and Omegas. One day I will decide to get one. Congratulations on the Orient dealership.

here i am in late 2023, only 3 years later. this watch is recently discontinued and no longer found even close to a retail price of $5,850. I don't see a used model for less than $7,700-$8,500, and the best examples of this model are in the $9500 - $10,000 range.

Great video, and beautiful shots as always 👍 If this is wearable, so is the 60th anniversary trilogy speedmaster with almost identical dimensions. It is still available at a similar price point, with a flat link bracelet included. I really like this ck2998, but prefer the blue panda with the lumed bezel. Unfortunately this pulsation bezel just isn't actually practical at 30 beats. Omega used to produce a bezel for 15 pulsations which makes a lot more sense for someone wanting to actually measure heart rate within a reasonable amount of time.

I think the blue is my preference to this as well. Just looks to be trading a bit higher than these. Also very valid point on 30 pulsation scale, I still would probably end up using a pulsation scale more than a tachymeter. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

I'm in the minority of the minority here, it's the fully blacked-out dark side of the moon for me. Unconventional, stealthy watch that no one is going to notice unless they already know what they're looking at.

The Omega catalog is so frigging confusing, even after going to the boutique where they showed my pretty much the whole Seamaster and Speedmaster lineup, never mind getting into discontinued "limited" models. And all those limited editions and trying to keep track of them all is so damn frustrating.

Because just figuring out what I’m trying keep track of is maddening. When I see something, or somebody mentions something, I have have clue what it is. Is this that thing I read about yesterday, or is it something different? What little detail does this one have that that one doesn’t, and do I care? Is this something else I should pay attention to?

@@MrSaadmubarak it doesn’t really bother me. I have the omega I like. But for me a watch is supposed to have a soul, an identity. And with omega most watches nowadays are a cash grab trying too hard to be special. It’s one of not the biggest issue people complain about omega . Too many limited and special editions.

I got the FOIS cause I couldn't justify the price hike for what was essentially a color change. Such a great watch. Goes with anything, and fits way better than its on-paper thickness would suggest. Closer to my 5 digit Sub than my 6 digit GMT Master

Not many chronograph have pulsometer. However, tachymeter can also used as a pulsometer, by simply divide the reading by 2.

Great video. My favourite Speedmaster is a reverse panda - the 3511.50, a model from the 90s released only in Japan. Sits at a case size of 39mm, which is perfect - I think - for wrists around 7 inches. Sporty and yet subtle, while remaining true to the tradition of the Speedmasters.

The new Snoopy is hot. Omega put the colors on it i like the most, blue/silver/white. The No time to die Seamaster is different than the Speedmaster Snoopy, but also a great watch. Looking at the movements, for the money a co-axial is an opportunity that rocks. Solid, accurate, less friction, metas certified, are benchmarks.

I have the one in rose gold. It is not my most complicated or expensive watch. It is the best looking though. I particularly like the 39mm size of the "First Omega in Space".

If I was new to hobby and wanted a speedy pro would just go for the standard speedmaster pro (not automatic) rather than limited editions, as cheaper and more of them around.. it’s a timeless classic, and I found that speedmasters are only ever noticed by people that own them already..

Love the dished sub dials but there's something not quite right with the overall appearance - the trouble is I can't pinpoint what it is. A beautifully crafted piece however. An Omega will be in the collection one day. Usual high standard review.

I really like how this watch has a racing style to it. Particularly since the Speedmaster was originally a racing watch. That being said, the substitution of the pulsation scale for the tachymeter scale is really weird to me. Everything about this watch says racing, so why take away a legitimate racing feature, for one that is pretty limited in utility to those in the medical profession?

There’s another version of this came out in 2016 that had the tachymetre bezel for your liking. Strategic marketing to please everyone I guess. Plus it’s limited as only 2998 pieces made so there should be enough medical professionals market for it

Great review! I think they're cool but, imo, tachymeter and 30 pulsation watches aren't very practical at all (15 pulsations way more so). The Speedmaster has one of the more interesting dials for a sport watch, although I'd personally appreciate that more if there were no bezel. And, how many limited edition Speedmasters are there at this point? Lol.

The Oris Clemente Pointer is sweet. They do a good job at themed pieces imo. I absolutely adore the Art Blakey (jazz drummer) edition. The dial is a snare head, and the caseback is a dimpled brass cymbal. Wonderful execution.
