Out of all the myths I find mothman unique, people saw something way out of the ordinary, I'm a little envious of people who've seen something like a ghost or a ufo, I'm an old man and I've never seen anything. Plus I like the movie, mothman prophecies. It's not a hit movie but it's quirky.

wait a minute... a thought occurred to me. who were they digging the grave for? could there be a connection to the person that was buried there? since that was the first time he was spotted.

Three years before Point Pleasant the same entity terrorised a small village in Cornwall England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The locals called it Owl man.

The policeman one was clickbait. He didn't see it when he was a trained policeman. He saw it as a child. "What color was its eyes?" "Yellow! Kinda yellow. Red." Well, was it red or yellow?

one thing i wonder is if there ever was an accident in that old tnt factory and if mothman was spotted then?

If the military was involved, then there seems to open up the possibility that there may have been an accident of some sort - and the Mothman may have been just a large bird...but some kind of waste may have affected the bird to give it that strange appearance. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of chemical-involved mini-accident that may have occurred. If there were UFOs and Men In Black also taking place... who knows? I know that some people have believed that the Mothman was there when the bridge collapsed, but it does not mean that the Mothman caused the bridge to collapse. Perhaps the Mothman was trying to warn people that the bridge was going to collapse... hmm?

For the Point Pleasant mothman, I lean more towards the hypothesis of a European Eagle Owl which escaped from a care center or from exotic animal trafficking. The European eagle owl corresponds to the classic description of the mothman (red/orange eyes and a large wingspan which could make it appear larger at night) and as it is not a raptor native to America, locals might have had difficulty identifying it at the time, especially at night. In addition, an owl from a center or traffic is more accustomed to contact with humans, and is therefore less shy and more curious when approaching inhabited areas.
